Large cottage on crystal clear, Kemptback Lake

Bedrooms 4
Property type cottage
Minimum Stay 2 nights

About the property

Kemptback Cottage is located in East Kemptville, Nova Scotia, Canada, on beautiful Kemptback Lake, also known as Crawley Lake. It is a beautiful, clear, rocky bottom lake, known for excellent bass fishing. Our cottage has a gorgeous sandy waterfront beach, protected by a small cove. We love spending time here, but unfortunately life gets busy, and we don't get the opportunity to spend as much time here, as we'd like . So we've decided to share this beautiful spot with others, and rent our cottage out for a few weeks out of the year.

It is located about a 40 minute drive from the town of Yarmouth, NS, on a private road. It is very quiet and serene, with only a few other cottages in the immediate vicinity. There is limited cell phone reception, no internet, and no landline, which only adds to the peaceful

environment. You can watch the gorgeous sunset from the deck.

The cottage has four bedrooms, (twin bed; double bed; two twin beds; twin bunk beds) as well as a large loft with an additional sleeping area, which includes three twins beds and a double size futon. There is a three piece bathroom, (shower only), laundry room with stackable washer/dryer, a kitchen/dining area with a propane stove, electric fridge/freezer, and microwave, and a living room with satellite television and dvd player. Out on the large deck, there is a barbeque and outdoor table and chairs, with steps down to a path leading to the waterfront. In the walkout basement, there is a canoe as well as various floaty toys and buckets and shovels included in the rental. The driveway extends down to the lake, for easy boat launching. Inside, there is an assortment of books, toys for younger children and a few games. Pots and pans, as well as cutlery and dishes are in the cupboards, and sheets on the beds. There are towels available too. All you need to bring is your toothbrush!

Beautiful remote Cottage for relaxing

  • 3 of 5

The cottage is in good condition, at least the shower, kitchen devices, TV is working and it is fully equipped with dishes and all stuff that is needed in a household. The cleanliness has room for improvement and the basement needs definitely some cleaning. Also the grill is old and rusty and should be exchange with a new one. The worst and concerning topic was the lack of cell phone service, landline and Internet. There is no phone nothing so I wouldn't recommend this cottage for elder people or Internet junkies. I really missed to have the opportunity to call my wife once a day or an ambulance in an emergency case without having to drive 15 minutes to get a proper cell service. All in all its worth a stay and enjoy the beautiful nature Canadas and relax without any traffic and other noise....

This was a great ,enjoyable, serene place to unwind....Beautiful lakefront, spacious, clean A-frame

  • 5 of 5

Had everything a family /group of 12 could want: never ran out of water or wood!! black flies were a problem, but thankfully the TV receiver filled in the time gaps for the kiddies and adults!! We will definitely refer anyone to book there, and we have already had several family members interested... Very enjoyable 9 day stay......

Cozy with all you need

  • 5 of 5

The cabin is cozy with ample space, everything was very clean and we had all the amenities we needed. The lake is crystal clear and it was great to have a canoe available to explore it. The video games and board games came in handy for a late night activity. 10 of us stayed and had a great experience. We will definitely come back, Tamara was very quick to respond to any of our questions and the location is very private and a perfect headquarter to explore the south of the province, we drove in via the south shore and returned through the valley.

Perfect Spot to get away!

  • 5 of 5

This place was great. we had our friends and family over for a BBQ. The shoreline is nice and sandy. The amazing lake view with the sunset was so nice. The many bed were great for our guest to stay a night with us.the kids loved the game systems. The men like the boat, they went for a fish and explored a bit. We spent our wedding night here as well, At night it got chilly, so we lit a small fire in the fireplace and it was so cozy and romantic. There were cozy blankets to snuggle in. Wonderful added treat was a coffee tray with chocolate and fresh flowers. Overall, an amazing weekend, only downfall is that we wished we could have spent more time here!

Wonderful lake, comfortable house with some issues.

  • 3 of 5

Wonderful lake and comfortable house. I am not sure the deck is safe (support poles are off their footings), and was not impressed with dealing with mice maimed in a trap. There are issues with water pressure. The hostess was attentive and helpful. The 4-night minimum stay was not great.

Lovely spot to get away from it all!

  • 4 of 5

Myself and eleven of my friends had a lovely time at this cabin over August long weekend. The cabin was well-stocked, spotless and comfortable. The lake was very warm, if a bit rocky. Bring water shoes! It's very isolated and peaceful.

Tamara was very communicative and accommodating. We felt very welcome even though I never met her in person.

Tip: If travelling from Halifax, I recommend going through the valley instead of down the south shore. The road from Shelburne to the cabin is in really rough shape, with potholes and frost heaves. A higher car or one not laden with people and gear would have been okay, but it was a little harrowing for us! The valley way isn't much longer (or maybe even not longer at all if you take your time dodging potholes) and the roads are in much better shape.
