Explore pristine Florida beaches in the St. Petersburg area, home to Madeira Beach and Treasure Island. Pick from houses, condos and cottages, and get ready to enjoy sugar white sand and warm breezes. Vacations in the St. Petersburg area offer abundant outdoor recreation – on and off the water – a lively arts scene, and award-winning restaurants.

Madeira Beach, located west of St. Petersburg is home to John's Pass Village and Boardwalk, a fun attraction for all ages. John's Pass, or the Pass to locals, offers top dining and nightlife options, family-friendly attractions, shopping and water sports. While walking the 1,100-foot boardwalk, see alligators at The Alligator Attraction and dolphins playing in the Gulf's waters. Walk into dozens of unique shops that sell everything from beachwear to shells to find the perfect souvenir or gift.

Madeira Beach's restaurants welcome family and friends to try the fresh local flavor. Many top-rated restaurants at the Pass feature entertainment, specials and events as well. The Seafood Festival at John's Pass – held annually in October – hosts more than 100,000 guests to celebrate food, music, and arts and crafts.

Water lovers can parasail, rent jet skis or deep-sea fish to complete their beach vacation. John's Pass is also a popular fishing destination and brings in more grouper than any other place in Florida. Visitors can also relax while birdwatching, boating and canoeing, all within easy access of their vacation rental.

Treasure Island – adjacent to St. Petersburg – is another favorite beach town in Florida. Swim, snorkel, fish, parasail and shell at this hot spot, which was named from an early hotel owner who buried and discovered treasure chests on the beach.

Known as a secret spot for sunsets, Treasure Island's 3 miles of beaches serve as the perfect place to watch the sun set over the Gulf of Mexico with someone special. Treasure Island also offers guests fun-filled attractions and things to do, paired with restaurants serving everything from breakfast to fresh seafood dinners.

Other popular attractions in the St. Petersburg area include the award-winning Salvador Dali Museum and Fort De Soto Park, the largest park within the Pinellas County Park System, measuring more than 1,100 acres.

Great Stay

  • 5 of 5

Rented Sunset Reef 224 for July and it was great! Large unit with four bedrooms, three full baths, and two half baths. Plenty of room for large families or even two families. The unit was well-equipped and in great condition. Furniture and decor is not top-end, but perfect for the beach. Complex is quiet with a great pool area and wonderful people. Beach is steps away and generally quiet, with the exception of a large crowd on July 4 - but the town's fireworks were no more than 100 yards from the unit. Only challenge was the spiral staircase that runs the entire four floors, but an elevator is available for luggage transport and to accommodate special needs. Several good restaurants in walking distance, along with a 7-Eleven for convenience items.

Would definitely recommend to large groups or anyone looking for a large unit with great views in a quiet community. We'll be back!

Above and Beyond

First off, I'd like to touch on the impeccable customer attention. Charles and Liz were very good communicators—an invaluable trait in rental property owners. They were very careful to listen to our needs and provide the most relevant and helpful information in a timely manner. In other words, if we had a question, they had an answer/solution within a short period of time.

Next, the property. To call it jaw-dropping or luxurious would be a disservice to the space. This penthouse is so nice that I struggled to go outside, even considering that the beach is at its foot. The four-floor condo gave everyone enough space that they felt comfortable and had their own privacy. That is not to say that we were relegated to our own little sanctuaries, however. The space is very conducive to group living. We spent most of our time in and around the kitchen (yes, we love food too), and on the balconies overlooking the gulf.

Its location to the beach—literally RIGHT out the door—made beach-going convenient and effortless. We came and went as we pleased, not having to pack everything up in case someone needed to go back. The beach (and surrounding community for that matter) are nice and quiet. This is very suited for families and mature vacationers who aren't looking to relive Spring Breaks from yesteryear. This place is worlds classier than that.

I couldn't recommend this place more highly to anyone who is interested. If you're on the fence, book it and thank me (and Charles and Liz) later. :)

Home Away from Home

Gorgeous views of the ocean & beach from any window of the condo. We were able to view gorgeous sunsets every evening & enjoyed our coffee in the morning on the balconies . The condo was decorated with Contemporary decorations which were very nice. Great having the washer & dryer available. Garage available for parking 1 car with additional 2 parking spaces for guests. For the whole month of February the pool area had shade the majority of the day. However the week our grandchildren stayed by us they had a ball in the pool anyways. Two refrigerators, one on main floor & one in the mud room area. The extra refrigerator was great to store water, beer & soda. We needed extra blankets, towels & assistance with the operation of the elevator. The management gave us an immediate response when we called. Condo was supplied with household items including starter cleaning supplies , hand soap & kleenex.

We did enjoy our stay at Sunset Reef, however we would suggest for management to supply more beach chairs, as only 2 were available . We would also suggest a chaise reclining lounge for upper deck. They supplied only two wooden rocking chairs. Condo was very clean except for a small area on the carpet in master bedroom closet. Lastly, we were going to use the grill but it was very dirty . They need to clean the grill.
