About the property

Four Bedroom Home Set On Three Acres Of Gardens And On The Tobergal River

The Home.

Cullin House is idyllically situated between the majestic lakes of Lough Conn and Lough Cullin in Northeast County Mayo. Here you can enjoy some of the most stunning views in Ireland. Undisturbed by housing schemes, industrialisation and intensive farming the area exudes peace and tranquillity. At Cullin House, experience a beautiful natural setting of approximately 3 acres of landscaped gardens, a patio that has views to the lake and a lawn that rolls down to the Tobergal River. The property wrapped in natural hand picked stone is blended with all the comfort, style and luxury that you would expect from a four star accommodation. This four-bedroom property located with commanding views over Lough Cullin and the surrounding country side, has a spacious modern open plan living, dining and kitchen area with an impressive and welcoming turf burning stone fireplace.

Accommodation.

This four-bedroom property has a spacious and modern open plan living, dining and kitchen area with an impressive and welcoming turf burning stone fireplace. Cullin House sleeps eight to ten people. There are two double bedrooms with en-suites, two twin bedrooms, one with two single beds, one with bunk beds and a cot to facilitate infants and a mezzanine with a pull out bed sofa. The family bathroom includes a luxurious freestanding bath and power shower. All linen and towels are provided. The kitchen is fully equipped with all modern conveniences including dish washer, washing machine, dryer, microwave, fridge/freezer, electric cooker, iron, ironing board, crockery and cutlery. In the summer, the barbeque can be fired up. For entertainment on rainy days Cullin House has Satellite TV with cinema surround sound, DVD player and a deck of cards!

The Location.

Foxford meaning 'mouth of the cataract' or 'rushing water' is an old, well-established County Mayo town. It is situated at the river Moy and nestled between the Ox and Nephin mountains. It is home to the famous Foxford Woolen Mills and has much to entertain its visitors with a visitor centre, outdoor activities, fishing and walking. Visitors have found that walking the Foxford Way (an 86km trail approved by Bórd Fáilte) is an excellent way to take in the beautiful scenery of bog lands, boreens, lakeshores, mountains and riverbanks. The River Moy is known for its salmon fishing, (producing several thousand salmon to the rod annualy) and the nearby Lough Conn and Lough Cullin (in Pontoon) are famous for its brown trout. Pontoon is an ideal location for exploring the rest of Mayo and is a one-hour drive away from Galway and Sligo city. Cullin House is located in Pontoon and the nearest town is Foxford.

About Andrew McHale

I'm originally from Birmingham, England but migrated to the United States in 1997

Andrew McHale purchased this house in 2005

Why Andrew McHale chose Ireland

I purchased this land back in 1995 and built a dream vacation property for my family and me to use whenever they need to use the home.

I used to spend all my summer holidays here and always have very fond memories of our time here.

What makes this house unique

It's an amazing part of the country. Time seems to have stood still in this part of the world. It's tranquil and the pace of life is slow. Beautiful people, beautiful landscape and scenery. It really is an escape from the face paced lives we all seem to lead.

Great vacation in county Mayo

  • 5 of 5

The house is beautiful and perfect for a group of six and more

A magnificent view of the lake and the hills in the background

All rooms have enough space and the kitchen was a dream.

We had a lot of fun and enjoyed the time in the County Mayo

The time was perfect here!!!

Clean and well-maintained house with everything what is needed for a wonderful vacation.

The evenings by the fireplace were very comfortable and we enjoyed it very much.

Unfortunately, there was something we missed, a bbq, (was listed in the description) but on the other hand, the weather was more April than May.

The evenings in Healy,s Bar (4km by car) were funny and the bar food, Guinness and Cider were very tasteful.

We have visited many church ruins in the area.

Likewise, the Ceide Fields, Moyne and Rosserk Abbey are recommended.
