Yellow cottage with stunning views on Pleasant Beach, in South Thomaston, Maine

Bedrooms 3
Property type cottage
Minimum Stay 3 - 7 nights

About the property

3 small bedrooms, 1 full bath , new kitchen and bathroom. Friendly dog friendly

Adorable classic Maine cottage sleeps four. A brand new adjacent bungalow accommodates an additional two/three people for an extra charge of $250.00(a great place for the kids to sleep and hang out!).

The cottage has a newly renovated kitchen and bathroom. The kitchen features all-new appliances with modern amenities. There is no kitchen table, however. We have a fully outfitted bathroom with new fixtures. Upstairs, there is a double bedroom and a single bedroom. You walk through the double room in order to get to the single room. There is one single downstairs. All bedrooms are small. The living room has comfy furniture with a lovely gas fireplace for those rare chilly summer mornings. Wi-fi is included.

The screened-in porch, which overlooks the Gulf of Maine, features a family-sized table for dining on soft summer evenings. Attached is a small deck with a grill for you to enjoy. Two kayaks are available too. During the day, luxuriate on the warm rocks a few steps away or take the short path down to Pleasant Beach for swimming, snorkeling, crab-hunting, fishing, and sun-worshipping.

The cottage boasts a stunning view of the bay. Watch lobstermen ply their trade as children climb the rocks along this secluded coastline. No crowds here. Friendly dog friendly!

Nearby seafood shacks and restaurants in the area are well known, or if you're nice to the local fisherman, you might have fresh lobster brought directly to your front door.

Located 12minutes from Rockland, 10 minutes from Owls Head, 25 minutes from Camden Hills State Park and near many mid-coast attractions.

We also welcome a well-behaved dog for a small fee, but this is a cat-free, no-smoking property.

I am happy to answer any questions about our wonderful Maine cottage.

Where the forest meets the sea

  • 5 of 5

Our stay was one of the best trips we have shared in all our travels. The cottage is located close to so many attractions do not even know where to start. We ate the most incredible sea food ever, the town of Rockland was a gem. You will not find a better view anywhere. Hope your stay will be as amazing as ours was.

Best place ever

  • 5 of 5

We loved the cottage at first sight. We spent almost 2 weeks there and really felt at home. Laura has everything you would need there and the gas stove was nice on the cool evenings. Meals on the porch overlooking the water was especially a treat. We loved the library and the history of people that summered there. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a quiet homey getaway. Our dog Willie made some great friends. The 2 chocolate labs came down every morning to walk with us.

Will be back.

We loved this place. Looks exactly like the photos. Laura,, the owner, was very nice to deal with. Cottage was clean, comfy, and very private on a pretty little cove. Highly recommend !

This is a comfy, well-provisioned cottage on a ledge overlooking the bay. There are whimsical touches, scattered plantings & fairy houses. What a treat to see the sun come up over the nearby island! Laura was accessible to answer questions and to insure a comfortable stay..

An Amazing Setting!

  • 4 of 5

The two weeks my husband, dog and I spent at the yellow cottage went by much too quickly! The setting is quintessentially Maine -- right on the water, with a great view of the open sea and rocky shored spruce covered islands! There is even a nice small beach right around the corner! We loved being able to sit on the screened in porch (in our experience, a rare luxury for Maine rentals) any time of day or night, having our morning coffee or evening cocktails, and watching the tides, the lobster boats and the shore birds. The location is perfect for a quick trip into Rockland, to Spruce Head Island to our favorite lobster shack, McLoon's, or to anything else in the mid-coast area. The house is over 100 years old and therefore a bit ...quirky. It is small -- we ended up using one of the bedrooms for our closet. The narrow steep stairway can be tricky to negotiate, especially if you have to use the bathroom in the middle of the night. (But there are plenty of handy nightlights throughout the house.) The house could use a bit of sprucing up, but it is clean and functional. The gas stove proved great for heating up the house on cool mornings and evenings. The kitchen is very well stocked with everything you would need, even with spices and other staples. There are a lot of warnings about minimizing water use, but for two of us we had no issues. The owner Laura was very accommodating and helpful throughout the process, even welcoming us with a bottle of wine on our arrival!

Really enjoyed this coastal cottage

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed here in early July 2017 and couldn't have been happier with it. The screen porch was fantastic and we enjoyed sitting out on it as it has a great view of the water and the cove the house sits in. The kayaks were an awesome perk and we took advantage of them. There are several neat islands close by to kayak around and one of them (Ash Island) has been turned into a preserve that you can get out and walk around on. The kitchen had everything we needed and the bed we slept on upstairs was comfortable. The house is in a great location and only 15 minutes or so away from Rockland. Since we got back from Maine we have been telling all of our friends and family they should visit and if any of them do I would absolutely recommend they stay at this cottage.

About Laura Trippe

My dear cousin Stewart left this lovely cottage to me. It has been in our family for a very long time. My family and I are fortunate enough to stay at the cottage often, since we live not too far away in Yarmouth, Maine. I think you will love the traditional and cozy atmosphere of the cottage, and the views are stunning.

What makes this cottage unique

There is also a fun new sleeping bungalow that has 3 beds and a front porch. It is a great place for the kids to hang out, to use as an artist studio, or to simply have some quiet time! There is no bathroom, but there is a small fridge, coffeemaker and microwave. . It is available for rent for an extra $250.00 weekly. Even if you don't want your kids/friends to stay there, it is a great space with super views too.
