This beautiful apartment is located in the center of the East Village of New York City. The building is situated on a quiet, mainly residential street. It is small and quiet with five floors, two apartments per floor. Ours is a fifth floor walk up, facing south with views to an exquisite community garden. The living room is spacious, tastefully furnished with an open, small kitchen, stainless steel counters and floor to ceiling shelves with cabinets. Pots, pans, cutlery and crockery are of good quality. The passage leads to an even quieter well sized bedroom with two large windows facing trees and the back yard. It is equipped with an extremely comfortable queen bed, a dresser with plenty of drawers and a very large closet.
To the west of Avenue B, one block away is the famous Tomkins Square Park, known for its beauty and year round activities which include musical concerts, performances and open air movies in the summer. There are numerous cinema houses showing both art films and the more commercial block busters. The East Village is also known for its restaurants, bars and small stores. Towards the east, one block away is the FDR Park, facing the East River and ideal for walking south to the Chelsea piers and further south to the Wall Street area. It is designed for jogging, cycling and also has tennis courts. To the south, a comfortable 20 minute walk are Little Italy, Chinatown and to the west not much further, the West Village and the fashionable shopping district known as Soho. Subways and buses are plentiful and more taxis ply the streets at all times of the day and night than any other neighborhood in the city.
To put it simply, the combination of a beautiful apartment and a spectacular location offers an incredible experience for visitors to this exciting city.
I stayed in this lovely apartment for 7 months when I was working at the UN headquarters. The apartment is very spacious, bright and fitted with all the necessities for a comfortable and enjoyable stay. The listing description is accurate and the property was clean and well-maintained when I got handed the keys. The owner is very kind and extremely helpful when you have a query. Before I moved in, I was given a detailed description of where to find all the important necessities in the vicinity, as well as recommendations on what the neighbourhood has to offer. Alphabet City in East Village is a very calm and green neighbourhood and, having had the time to discover a lot of Manhattan during my stay, I would highly recommend this apartment and the area in which it is located. The walk to work every morning along the East River or along Avenue 1 was a very pleasant way to start my day. There is a running track and a big park only 10 minutes away! If I move back to the Big Apple, this is where I hope to stay again!
I stayed in Noosha and Gregory's apartment for three months over spring 2016.
Noosha was easily contactable in the lead up to my stay, answering any questions promptly. It was arranged for Regina to meet me on arrival, and the check in process was very smooth.
The apartment has everything you would need for a short or long stay in New York. The apartment is clean, bright and airy, and has both heating and cooling so you would be comfortable all year around. There's music, books, wifi and netflix provided if you need a quiet day relaxing at the apartment, and the fully equipped kitchen allows a break from the fantastic New York eating if you fancy a home cooked meal. Loads of closet space and drawers were made available. There was also plenty of linen and towels so no need to bring that along.
The local area is terrific, with plenty of bars, restaurants and cafes around, including a great little wine bar directly across the road. There is a real "village" feel in this part of New York, and I quickly felt a part of the neighborhood, rather than a tourist. I loved the local parks and community gardens scattered all over the East Village.
I found the photos and listing to be very accurate. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this apartment to anyone looking for somewhere to stay in New York (noting the stairs - which were great at keeping the holiday weight at bay!). I will definitely re-book when I return to NYC if it hasn't been snapped up already.
Thanks Noosha, Gregory and Regina.
The apartment was good sized, well appointed and very quiet for NYC.
The neighborhood was charming with many food options nearby.
The landlord was very pleaseant and responsive to any needs.
The only issue for some would be the 4 flight walk up to the 5th floor.
The apartment was lovely: a true home away from home. Noosha, the owner, couldn't have been nicer or more accommodating. We are so glad that she shared her home!
I stayed with my sister in this beautiful and comfortable apartment for a long weekend. It has a front view from the living room and a rear view to a quiet back yard from the bedroom. Simply furnished and very well equipped, no detail missing, even good books to read!! You will not mind the five floor walkup since it is located in a very nice neighborhood. There are many convenient stores and nice restaurants nearby. It far surpasses value-cost NY standards. I truly recommend this apartment.
The East Village is renowned for the variety of restaurants and bars. There are restaurants from all over the world and are popular for the reasonable prices and good food. Tompkins Park which is a block away from the apartment is beautiful just to walk through but also is a popular venue for live music and dance. On 4th Street is the well known theater called La Mama and on Lafayette Street the Public Theater. There are various cinema houses all around the area.
