Tucked away down a tree-lined country lane, on a five acre property, this stunning oceanfront house sits on the water’s edge in a hollow where the rumrunners once hid their liquid treasure. The house, which has been run as a successful Bed & Breakfast for several years, is perfect for a family retreat, a honeymoon or a romantic getaway. It is equally well suited for 2-3 couples to share an executive home while exploring Canada’s Ocean Playground. Come back from a day of travel to the sounds of the water lapping on the shore and the therapeutic ocean views.
Originally a cottage built in the early 1940’s, the owners have carefully redesigned the house to hold three large, yet private bedrooms, each with a luxurious ensuite bathroom and plenty of shared living space.
The centerpiece of the main floor is the original stone fireplace, which is central to the living room. Vaulted ceilings and large windows are the backdrop to serene ocean views. The fully equipped kitchen is a delight and the antique dining table (when fully extended) seats ten. Next to the dining room is a circular sunroom, with comfortable seating, where you can enjoy panoramic views of the water from a quiet nook.
The main floor bedroom is just off the living room with a queen sized bed. This spacious, elegant room is decorated with antiques and original works of art. A walk-in closet and ensuite bathroom (with a large walk-in shower) complete this comfortable room. This bedroom is completely wheel-chair accessible.
There is an additional bathroom on this floor as well as a large laundry room, with a washer and dryer.
Upstairs are two further bedrooms separated by a spacious living area. Each of these bedrooms has a queen sized bed and an ensuite bathroom. One bathroom has a large corner jet tub and walk-in shower, while the other has a claw-foot soaker tub and a walk-in shower. Both have electric fireplaces, a TV and DVD player, and a pillowed window seat; the perfect place to take some quiet time with your book.
Outside, the large covered deck is the perfect place to relax, watch the ocean, and enjoy a glass of wine from one of Nova Scotia’s many award-winning wineries. Take a coffee down to the wharf on a quiet morning. You will find so many different places to enjoy on this one-of-a-kind property. Be it the covered deck, the wharf, the boathouse - you decide!
Spent 6 nights at this beautiful, big, clean, and very private home. It was in a perfect location, close to everything. I was unaware that there was a loft and we were able to accommodate 8 people. Would go back in a minute. Don't think that the boat house should be advertised as there wasn't a mattress on the bed and the fridge was dirty and moldy. Also, the upstairs Jacuzzi doesn't work.
