Location, location, location! Centrally located North Park offers easy access to the most popular attractions San Diego has to offer. Great year-round weather and no bugs are a plus too! (We're both originally from southern states) Since moving to San Diego in 1983 we have resided in Point Loma, Ocean Beach, Pacific Beach and Downtown San Diego but North Park is by far our favorite place to live.
Our home is on a quiet, 1-block long section of Spruce. North Park is a centrally located San Diego neighborhood and an easy drive to Sea World, Coronado, Petco Park, Qualcomm Stadium, the downtown bayfront and dozens of other attractions.
We stayed in the cottage for 3 nights and it was amazing! The location is great! Close to parks and walking distance to great restaurants. My husband and I stayed with our two year old and newborn. There was plenty of room and very comfortable. We can't say enough good things about our stay. The owners were extremely helpful and made sure we had everything we needed. We can't wait to go back!!
We loved the Spruce cottage! Spacious yet cozy, lovely bath products, comfortable bed, jetted tub, and spotless. Nestled in the owners' lovely garden, yet walkable to so many fun parks, restaurants, trails, sights. We would love to go back!
Great property - includes a comfy bed, spacious bath w/jetted tub, complete kitchen and living area, and a private and serene patio area that's perfect for morning coffee or wine before dinner! You have no choice but to relax and enjoy the beautiful weather in this quiet neighborhood.
This property is just minutes from Balboa Park and easy access to downtown or main highways north to the wine country and beaches. We loved how easy it was to get anywhere, and the neighborhood restaurants and bars gave us a true taste of the local cuisine! I found a basket full of information about the area and a notebook full of menus from local restaurants - so helpful!
But it was the small things that we noticed and appreciated most - umbrellas for the occasional rain shower, lots of books about everything and anything, games, movies, glasses for every kind of libation - even trays of heart-shaped ice cubes in the freezer!
A TV in the bedroom and living area offering Dish Network, Netflix and local channels was great and our internet signal was good.
In summary, we truly enjoyed this property and the owners were always available to answer questions and help if needed. We appreciate their attention to detail - what a great experience!
We stayed 5 nights in this very peaceful neighborhood. Very clean, bright and cheery cottage with nice decor. Lighting in the cottage was great. The closet/extra room is really nice to keep all your stuff spread out. Plenty of hot water for the jetted tub. The outdoor patio area is very small and somewhat 'closed in' feeling, otherwise it would have been 5 stars (but large patio areas are hard to find in San Diego). This wasn't a problem for us, but want to mention it for people who might like to spend a lot of time on the patio relaxing. There was always a parking spot for us right in front of the house. Mike and Sharon were friendly and helpful. We would stay there again for sure!
Very comfortable. Excellent location: close to restaurants, Balboa Park, bus to downtown, golf courses and groceries. Pleasant outdoor space with barbecue. Kitchen supplies are great for cooking meals.
We spent two very fun weeks in this cozy cottage in North Park. So close to everything we needed, Balboa Park, Little Italy and walking distance to shops and restaurants in North Park, a very lively area. Although the weather could have been better it didn't stop us from exploring and taking advantage of their private little patio for a afternoon cocktail. The kitchen was well equipped and the bbq was great have right out the front door. The bed could have been a little firmer, perhaps an egg crate instead of a soft foamy. Other wise everything was fantastic, I took full advantage of the jetted tub on those cool rainy days.
Thanks Mike for your great tips and a new brush for the BBQ,
All the Best, Lynn and Rick Bagnall
Our cottage is walking distance from Balboa park and the world famous San Diego Zoo.

*PLEASE NOTE THAT VRBO / HOMEAWAY CHARGES ALL RENTERS A VARIABLE "SERVICE FEE" WHICH WILL BE INCLUDED WHEN YOU REQUEST A QUOTE.
Here is VRBO / Homeaway's explaination of the service fee...
The service fee is paid by the traveler when booking through the HomeAway websites. This fee covers the cost of providing 24/7 customer support, enhanced site and mobile features for both owner and travelers, plus expanded marketing efforts to generate more exposure to global audiences. Additionally, when a traveler books and pays through HomeAway, they are eligible for the Book with Confidence Guarantee.
Paying the fee
Travelers pay the service fee by credit card when paying through the secure HomeAway checkout process. The service fee is only charged to the card once the booking has been accepted by the property owner or manager. The service fee is, on average, approximately 6% of the rental amount, excluding refundable deposit or taxes. This fee is lower than other travel websites that charge a similar fee.
Refunding the fee
The owner does not have the ability to discount or waive the service fee amount. The only time the service fee can be refunded is when an owner uses the Cancellation Refund feature from their dashboard and the cancellation is requested within the terms of the owner/manager's cancellation policy. However, if the reservation is not canceled and all payments fully refunded to the traveler, the service fee will not be refunded.
