High quality apartment chalet, with elevator lift and indoor parking. Sleep in the master bedroom to the never ending sound of an alpine creek 'les torrent'. Have a warm fire while looking at the alpine peaks. All modern amenities available. Children can walk through the town to the nice park to ride the zipline or to the cinema. A short walk to the coop and other shopping, as well numerous hiking and bike paths. The ski lift is only 200 meters away, train station and car rental is 7 minute walk away. The village of Gstaad is a 15 minute car ride away.
We are from Canada, and have business in Canada/US/Poland. Together the two families have six great kids. We love to ski, fish, hike, and indulge in the best wine and cheese in the world when in Chateau d'Oex. We visited Gstaad for years, but kept coming to visit CDX because of the local swiss culture, the families, and all the life.
Michelle purchased this apartment in 2011
We have traveled to this area for many years. It is still a true swiss community, not taken over as a resort mecca. It is a comfortable place for families and has all the amenities and outdoor opportunities as Gstaad. Unprecedented chances to hike and fly fish browns in glacial streams, ski, swim, bike or simply hang out with the gorgeous views and fresh air. If you want, you can be to Gstaad and locale by car or train in minutes. We have put a new wood floor and furniture- very light and airy, yet tied to the local culture- enjoy the massive outdoor decks or open all the windows and enjoy the inside-outside! Great air for medical recovery, steps from the train station, underground parking, high speed internet, never hear sounds except for birds and les torrent stream- Unique!!!
The Stream, village, mountains, classical music festivals virtually year 'round in Gstaad/Saanen/Rougemont/Chateau d'oex, hiking, biking, great tennis tournaments, MONTREAUX JAZZ!!!!!, local food and wind, L'etivaz, skiing, fly fishing- you will be the only one on this pristine stream, local people, flowers, birding, cows, goats, horses, just too much culture to mention- Come up and Slow Down!
We recently spent Christmas and New Year here and upon walking into the Chalet - I was completely taken aback. It was beautiful. Extremely well situated in Chateau D'Oex, very well maintained and spotlessly clean. It also contained everything you could wish for to make it a home from home experience. Amanda the lady who looks after the running of the Chalet had decorated it beautifully for Christmas, and is a very kind and helpful person, always at the end of a phone and very accommodating, answering any questions or offering advice and local knowledge. The owners were extremely helpful in answering questions before our holiday and again couldn't have been more accommodating. As a family we would highly recommend this lovely place to stay and would rate it as the best so far we have stayed in during our ten years of visiting Chateaux D'Oex.
Amazing village with so much to do- but if you decide to see more, a short train ride will link you to Gstaad in 10 minutes.Although Gstaad is famous as a ski resort, there are 3 world class summer events; Swiss Open tennis tournament, FIVB beachball tournament and the Menuhin classical music festival. The two sporting venues host world class players in their respective sports and Menuhin festival host classical music artists from around the world. The city of Montreaux is only 1 hour by train and host's the famous Montreaux Jazz festival. There is also wonderful hiking and biking trails linking Chateau D'Oex with Rougemont, Saanen and Gstaad. The area is best known for it's skiing from Chateau D'Oex to Gstaad and every year in the winter Chateau D'Oex hosts a famous hot air ballon festival.
