About the property

3 Bedrooms, 2 Bathrooms, Sleeps 6

Have you ever wanted to have the quiet and solitude of being in the rolling countryside away from the stress of the city but still have all the comforts of a modern, luxurious house with a porch and rocking chairs to sit on while you watch the world go by? This 3 bedroom, 2 bath house on a working farm has all of this while being only 1 hour's drive from downtown Kansas City (45 minutes drive from World's of Fun, Oceans of Fun, and MCI airport), 20 minutes drive from St. Joseph Missouri and Missouri Western State University, 15 minutes drive from Atchison Kansas and Benedictine College, 15 minutes from Snow Creek Skiing, and 40 minutes drive from Fort Leavenworth Kansas. The house has 1 large bedroom with ensuite bathroom and two other large bedrooms with a shared bath, wood-burning fireplace, large front porch, large open plan kitchen, dining room, and all of the modern conveniences that you'd expect from a house that is less than 15 years old. If it's peace and quiet that you're after then this place is what you're looking for. It's a half-mile from the state highway on the top of a big hill so you have a panaramic degree view in all directions. The house is ideal for watching sunrises and sunsets but if you want to keep current on everything happening in the rest of the world then you can connect to the Wi-Fi. Bed linen, pillows, and towels are provided for all 3 bedrooms.

Wonderful time in MO!

  • 5 of 5

It was a great location from Snow Creek skiing area, Weston State Park and KC. The house is very spacious and fully furnished. We had a great time and enjoyed the sunrise, sunset and the stars. Thanks for a relaxing place to have family time.

Owner's Response: It's always good to hear that one of our guests thoroughly enjoyed their stay in our home and the attractions in the immediate area like the Snow Creek skiing area. There are so many unique things to see and do, or you can choose to just sit on the front porch and do nothing but listen to the sounds of the countryside while you watch the sun rise, and watch the sun set while having a modern, comfortable house to share with your family and guests.

Peaceful, spacious, private retreat with great views and comfortable furnishings near Kansas City

  • 5 of 5

This house is on a hill on a wonderful ranch and much larger inside than pics show. Stunning view and invitation. By host to hike on property. Very nice appliances and fully furnished kitchen. Great master bedroom with sunken tub. We had a fire in the fireplace each day. Jany is a lovely hostess and made sure we had everything we needed while still respecting our privacy. Come and stay and be rejuvenated. I even made a full Christmas dinner here.

Owner's Response: We really enjoyed our time with this delightful family and we're very pleased that they enjoyed their stay. My sister is an excellent host and it's good to know that our guest appreciated her efforts to make them comfortable.

What a wonderful surprise! Roomy, clean, and up to date!

  • 5 of 5

Pictures are worth a million words but lack measurements. We could not tell how spacious this house was in the pictures. This is our third VRBO property and it was by far our best. This house is located on 1,400 acres. But still only 25 minutes into Saint Joseph. The view is stunning at sunset.

All the bedrooms are large. The master has a king bed with a bathroom. Two sink vanity, shower and corner tub. One of the other two bedrooms has two twin beds with a large open area between them. The last bedroom has a queen bed.

The kitchen is large! The kitchen is between the living room and the dining room. This arrangement is great for a big group. We had 14 here for a meal and the space was perfect. Washer and dryer are off the kitchen in the mud room.

Best bang for the buck!

Owner's Response: What this guest says is very true, it's difficult to capture in a photograph how spacious the house really is and tp show how each room is quite large so you get a warm feeling of space, comfort, and relaxation. We're so glad that this guest had a wonderful stay in our property and she feels that it was an excellent value for money.

Everything you could want or need!

  • 5 of 5

I rented this house for all my bridesmaids to stay in over the weekend of my wedding and as Bridal Headquarters the day of the wedding. While these east- and west-coast girls were a little intimidated by the gravel roads, they loved it's Midwestern charm and homey feel. They thoroughly enjoyed their stay, particularly since all the everyday amenities were provided! It was the perfect place to give the gals a taste o' Missouri in a comfortable, spotless, and spacious home!

Owner's Response: It so good to hear that this guest was able to utilize the central location of the house for gathering her friends during her wedding and enjoy the tranquility and comfort of the dwelling in the Missouri countryside. Making sure that our guests have a relaxing stay is our objective.

If you want to see the most beautiful sunsets and sunrises, then stay here.

Owner's Response: It's great to hear from a guest that the house is a fantastic place to watch sunrises and sunsets from the south-facing porch because that's one of the most wonderful features of the house and its location on the top of a hill in the quiet Missouri rural countryside.

Country Delight

  • 5 of 5

Ten things I really liked about this VRBO property.

1. It was so clean.

2. I loved the country setting. It sits on a high ridge with great views in all directions.

3. The front porch. It is hard to beat a front porch, especially one with views like this one.

4. The owners allow you to bring the two rocking chairs from the living room to sit on on the front porch each evening. What a treat that was.

5. The home is very spacious. There were only three of us , but you could have six or severn people and not feel crowded.

6. This home is much better supplied than most places I have stayed in through VRBO. Lot of cooking utensils, towels, condiments, blankets (none are really needed in MO in the summer}, etc.

7. Very helpful and friendly owners. Janey who lives close by made sure everything we needed was there and was very helpful in guiding us to the places we needed to get to during our stay.

8. The wonderful breezes that the front porch captures. There was a fresh breeze blowing every day that we were there and it was so refreshing.

9. The Missouri sunrises and sunsets. You get to see both from this home and they are long lasting and delightful.

10. The country setting. We rented this home so we could spend a couple of days with our granddaughter who works in Kansas City. We were looking for a place for her to "get away", and we found it here. We spent two days in great conversation talking about memories and the future and, in the process, made more great memories.

For these and lots more reasons, we loved our stay here. I would recommend it for anyone looking for a peaceful, beautiful escape from the hectic pace that defines so much of modern living.

Owner's Response: I must admit that this guest very eloquently summed up all of the reasons that we feel that our house is an ideal place to forget your worries, sit on the front porch in a rocking chair and let the world go by while you're staying in a in a comfortable, well-appointed, modern house in the Missouri countryside. We share the very same sentiments and look forward to welcoming new guests.
