Don and Janice Shreve live in Easton, MD. Don is a licensed contractor, and Janice works from home for a music clearance company. Our son, Dylan loves the Tilghman house, and we enjoy staying there at times to fish, crab and enjoy the beautiful views.
Janice Shreve purchased this house in 1993
The property has been in the family for several generations. Previously, there was a modular home on the property, and as a child, Don's family spent their summers at that home when he was growing up. Don's parents had the current home built when they retired in 1993. Don and Janice recently bought out his sister's share of the home because we want to keep the home in the Shreve family and one day retire there ourselves, and eventually pass it on to our son, Dylan.
There are kayaks and crab traps for rent on site, and the home has a horseshoe pit, dart board and ping pong table for family fun.
And exploring the surrounding area. Such a lovely house and so well equipped! We saw many gorgeous sunrises and sunsets, and enjoyed looking out for wildlife. Plus our frequent visitor, Clyde, whose waggy tail and enthusiasm made us all smile.
Our family vacation has relocated. To Tilghman Island. On Harris Creek. At Choptank Cottage. I can only echo what others have said. The views are spectacular. There is a dock where we could tie up our 28' Chris Craft, fish, crab and watch the sea life.
This home has everything you might need including cooking utensils, crab pots, a picnic table, firepit and so on. Even the next door neighbor and her big love of a dog are very special. The owners are very helpful and the house very welll kempt.
The location is wonderful, right on the creek. Marker 5, the Red Store, Knapps Narrows, The Lady Patty, Harrison's and on and on.
The one problem is leaving. Looking forward to the next time. Wow.
The Choptank Cottage is incredible. The property is accessible, but secluded. The neighbors are very nice. We enjoyed a beautiful Thanksgiving vacation sitting by the Bay enjoying the amenities offered by the home. The owners are incredibly easy to work with and everything is provided. The rooms are impeccable and clean. We cooked a full Thanksgiving dinner with no issues. Even board games are provided. Use the fire pit, it's awesome and you can sit and enjoy a fire while looking over the Bay enjoying a full moon. I cannot speak highly enough about the property and our family is already looking to rent again. The price is great and the house is amazing. Thank you to the owners for allowing us into their home and for an amazing time.
A wonderful relaxing home with beautiful water views. The owners were accommodating and very responsive to our pre-trip questions. The property has everything you may need and is private but not secluded. St. Michael's is a short drive away with plenty of restaurants and shops there are also several restaurants closer by. We completely enjoyed our stay and plan to return. We highly recommend Choptank cottage.
After having stayed at another location on Tilghman Island a few years ago, we expected quiet and beautiful views. This house tops our list of fantastic homes to spend time in - where do I begin? Gorgeous sunsets, fabulous weather, lots of wildlife sightings (including eagles, herons, horseshoe crabs, nettles), visits from neighbors' two friendly black labs, quiet and friendly neighborhood. Best of all, this well taken care of home has everything from flyswatters to nightlites. Beautiful new kitchen appliances and countertops, comfortable beds, roomy and spacious layout - great owners to deal with. We are already planning a revisit! Truly hated to leave this heaven on earth spot!
We just finished our stay at this beautiful house! The house was absolutely wonderful. It is well cared for and extremely clean. It was so peaceful and the view of the bay was great. It was quiet and the people were very friendly. We made a fire every night and saint michaels is only 20 minutes away. We definitely want to book again.
As I'm getting older, I've found that the water calls to me; making this house and setting ideal. I really enjoyed our stay on Tilghman Island. The house was well kept and comfortable and the island and its folk were friendly. We got several visits from "Clyde" which were enjoyable, especially for the little kids. I enjoyed riding my bicycle everyday, exploring the island in it's entirety. St. Michaels was surprisingly dog friendly, with watering stations along Main Street; something I enjoyed seeing. Janice was a pleasure to deal with and certainly cares for the house. Anyone wishing for a little serenity would enjoy staying at this home.
