We had a wonderful weekend at the cabin, but this review is for the big cabin, not the boathouse which is what we had reserved initially. The owner, Patricia, was great to talk to on the phone! She informed me that there was a water issue with the boathouse cabin that we had reserved so she was moving us into the larger cabin on their property. Lucky us! There were five of us getting together for an after Christmas get-away and this cabin was perfect! Super cute and clean and yet still felt very "cabin-y"! There were four bedroom and two bathrooms and plenty of tables all around for eating, playing games, etc. We spent the whole weekend in the cabin as it was a freezing cold weekend, so we didn't partake in outdoor activities at all. We did have a great time indoors (as we always do) and ate great food, had good cocktails, played games, laughed lots, and did some adult coloring too! Again, Patricia was very kind and helpful with any needs we had, which weren't many because everything was perfect! We are already planning another getaway next winter in this same lovely cabin!!
We enjoyed our stay @ The Boathouse. Very comfortable just as we desired. Even though we stayed during the off season we found plenty to do. Our only disappointment is that the dining options in the Brainerd area a quite limited. We highly reccomend The Boathouse if you are looking for that true cabin on the lake experience you won't be disapointed.
Nice secluded spot for a fall getaway for my husband and I. Close to town but feels like the woods. Electric burners and convection microwave with direction card provided a different experience. Thanks for the filtered water provided. Someone complained of sewer smell but must have not been used to lake water smell. Probably could be fixed with a filter system. Serenaded by a pair of loons in the evening was lovely. Thanks for the hospitality.
Beautiful house right on the lake but we are sorry we did not know there was no A/C. You need to fix the sewer gas smell.
The cabin and the location are both beautiful and peaceful. I never met the owner, but she was always available by text or call. I have one complaint and that is the lack of air conditioning. Most of the days we were there the weather was cool, but any raise in temp and it is not comfortable. Otherwise, the cabin is gorgeous and views are amazing. There is everything you need..even a grill. I would definitely recommend staying here.
We enjoyed ourselves very much during our trip to the Brainerd area. There is much to do in Brainerd and the surrounding areas. The property itself was clean and the view of the lake gorgeous. The bed was very comfortable. I do not think this would be a comfortable stay for two couples as essentially you would share a bathroom and sleep in the same bedroom. For a couple with children that would be fine. Also there is no oven or stove so you need to be mindful of that when doing meal planning. There is a small grill and two chairs on the deck area and that is all that fits there, so once again you might not want to plan a trip with another couple. Aside from that, drug store / grocery store / and several restaurants are very close and convenient. We did not take the canoe out because we wanted to do some fishing so we ended up at Gull lake. All in all, a nice property, as advertised, and a good value.
