Guestbook comments from the owner

We had a wonderful time at your cottage. The kids loved seeing the bunnies play in the morning and the loons on the dock in the early evening. Thanks so much for providing board games for the kids on rainy days.

You have a beautiful, spacious cottage and we would love to return next year

Family reunion

  • 5 of 5

My niece recently wed at a venue on Lake Simcoe. We are 7 total in my immediate family and i was looking for an affordable place to stay while in the area. The cottage looks deceivingly small from the outside. But don't be fooled. The layout is quite spacious and all 7 of us fit quite comfortably especially around the nice big kitchen table. As the parents, we welcomed the ensuite bathroom off the master bedroom and the sliding doors leading to the deck. There were linens and pillows galore and even though the bedrooms are on the same floor as the rest of the cottage, they are tucked far enough away, so that little ones sleeping first, do not hear the noise coming from the living room and kitchen. By far what we enjoyed the most, though was the outside patio and deck. Great view of the lake and totally private. I do agree with what another review mentioned, though...it is not swimmer friendly as the water off the dock was reedy. But as we went in the month of September, this was not an issue for us. The only complaint I have was that the dishwasher did not really clean the dishes very well (i think because of the hard water in the area) so i ended up handwashing everything, which was a bit of a drag seeing as there were 7 of us! All in all though, the cottage was lovely and the owners were very patient and flexible with my ever changing plans and questions!

Owner's Response: I'm so sorry that you didn't read the cottage notes. 1/2 cup of vinegar(found under the sink) results in completely sparkling dishes. An easy fix.

Spacious cottage for family

  • 4 of 5

Overall our stay at the cottage was pretty good. The cottage is very large and has lots of bedrooms and space to move around. The area of lake simcoe is very nice. Water is not too deep and as a result relatively warm.

The cottage was relatively clean. You could tell its a rental cottage because while the main area of the cottage were clean, around the edges were not the cleanest (cottagers doing a quick clean before leaving) and having a 1.5 year old he finds every dirty corner.

The only two drawbacks of the week were if you come up to do swimming with little guys it can be a little expensive. The waterfront at the cottage is typical waterfront. Fairly shallow with lots of lake weeds under the water . As a result if you want to swim with children you need to go to one of the public beaches which charge upwards of 30$ per day to park. Which is a lot of money if your kids want to go to the beach everyday. This has nothing to do with the cottage but I thought it might be worth noting for someone who is planning that type of week for the kids.

Only other negative is I believe the cottage has some septic issues. Whenever we would take shower for about 30-40 minutes after there would be a very strong sewage smell on the back deck. Also the backyard where the weeping bed would be located held a lot of water after the rain making the backyard unusable for most of the week. The area has had a lot of rain this year which is most likely contributing to the issue. However I think the septic system on the cottage needs son TLC.

As I mentioned above overall it was a good week with only a couple negatives.

The Brown family

  • 5 of 5

As a above the cottage was lovely amenities. We had trouble finding a dust pan and fly swatter, but that was the only worries. My sister tried fishing off the dock, but was not successful, The same with a boat with amotor that did not lift as it is quite shallow at the docks. No swimming off the dock either. We thoroughly enjoyed our fires and the view is spectacular. We would rent this again.

Lovely, well-appointed cottage...

  • 4 of 5

We had a mixed-age family group stay at the cottage, which is extremely comfortable and well-appointed. The ranges in our family stay were from 18 months through to grandparents in their late 70s, and the 8 of us had more than enough room - for eating, for relaxing and for sleeping. The cottage is deceptively large, and well layed out. The grounds were great for the kids to play games on the back lawn, and the only drawback was that the lake wasn't necessarily conducive to swimming on the cottage property (shallow and very weedy), but the two boys (9) enjoyed catching many small panfish right from the dock. That said, there is a fabulous beach just a few minutes away at Sibbald Point park, and we spent time there each day, before coming back to BBQ and relax. The appliances (oven, fridge, BBQ, TV) were all first-rate - much higher quality than one would expect in a cottage - which made our stay even more comfortable. We were in contact with the owners one day when a storm knocked the cable out, and they were very gracious and quick to respond. I would definitely recommend this cottage for families who want a comfortable lakeside home base for their summer vacation.

We would like to come back

  • 5 of 5

We are a group of 6 senior golfers/fishermen who had the opportunity to rent this property for 4 nights in June.We found the cottage to be well appointed and equipped with all of the amenities for a group of this size. The dock facilities were excellent for 2 boats and in and out access was a definite plus.We would definitely rent this property again. The cottage was spotless and tasteful furnishings and decor were much

appreciated.
