Ambush Hill Ranch is unique, beautiful and remote. The quiet at times can be unsettling. The unspoiled nature of the ranch is left to Mother Nature who cannot be bested. If you desire, peace, solitude and natural beauty unblemished by human desire, Ambush Hill is for you.
Ambush ranch was a very relaxing. We enjoyed the stay very much. Beautiful view from the front porch right along the river. The house was very cozy and had everything we needed. Enjoyed swimming, fishing and hiking on the property.
Great getaway from the city. Total seclusion from civilization. Mrs. Klein was very nice and welcoming to her home. Beautiful clear water swimming hole and creek. Make sure you pack everything you need, it's a 30 minute drive to the nearest store. Plan on making this an annual vacation .
This place is a little slice of paradise! My friends and I stayed in the stone lodge for three nights. We loved the tranquility and seculusion this ranch offered. Sonjia was very accommodating. The water was crystal clear and easy to access. But most of all the stars!!! We spent hours gazing at the stars and even the Milky Way. Can't wait for our next trip back to visit Ambush Hill Ranch!
Words cannot express the true beauty of this hidden gem. The ranch is tucked away neatly between little mountains with a creek that has water so clear you are sure to want to jump in for a swim or to grab your fishing pole. The array of wildlife that call this place home can be easily seen from walking along one of the many trails, sitting in a blind by a feeder, or even from the front porch. There are plenty of photography opportunities so be sure to take a camera! All of the cabins on this property are kept very clean and up to date. We were pleased to find some additional amenities that we did not expect such as a crockpot and large stock pot outside to have a crawfish boil. They are fully furnished and decorated in such a unique, rustic way. The warm welcome we received from Ms. Sonja Klein (the property owner) was so inviting that it instantly makes you feel right at home. If you are looking to escape from the hustle and bustle of our everyday lives and re-connect with nature, Ambush Hill Ranch is the perfect place. Great for families, romantic get-aways, or even a girls trip. I cannot wait to visit this amazing place again!
Words cannot describe what a gem of a place this is. The entire property surprises you with mother nature's wonders from all corners. Ms. Sonja Klein has got a true piece of heaven deep in the heart of Texas. Her lodges are cozy and modern, and you can feel her loved sprinkled throughout. Everything was very clean, her hospitality made me feel right at home, and the scenery cannot be described with words. If you're looking for a place to disconnect and re center yourself, this is the place to go. All the lodges are gorgeous inside and out, and there is so much to do. Sight seeing, swimming, watching the animals from the blind, home cooking. Perfect for a getaway alone or with your loved ones.
Ambush Hill is remote, scenic, private and very quiet. The nearest village of 80 is 16 miles and the next town 20 miles from the ranch, the town of Camp Wood, Texas. There is a convenience store, a family dollar store and some restaurants serving Mexican food and excellent barbecue. Beer and wine are available in the town but a liquor store is in Uvalde 60 miles away. Also in Uvalde is a large
grocery store and Walmart as well as restaurants, a hospital and
other services. This ranch is only 20 miles from Camp Wood where kayaks, floats and other water recreational toys are available to use on the Nueces River, larger than the Frio and much less crowded.
