Thank you for letting us use your beautiful home.
Overall good experience, but a few issues needed addressed.
To sum it all up, Brett is a super nice guy and very communicative. Pretty easy to get ahold of. The house was spacious and matched the online description pretty well. But there were three down falls.
One, couldn’t watch any DVD movies that we had brought due to the Xbox having a passcode on it that Brett didn’t even know how to crack, and there was no other DVD player. Not a deal breaker by any means, just a bummer because there were some family classics we looked forward to watching at night during our stay. Two, the bathrooms had dead bugs on the floor and hair on the counter and floors upon our arrival to the home which made us question the quality of cleaning that had been done to prepare the home for our stay. Lastly and by far our biggest issue was the horrendous smell of sewer that filled the whole back half of the house where the pool table, bunk-bed room, 3rd bathroom and hot tub are located. We thought we had the problem solved by covering a hole in the floor in the hot tub room but the odor continued to fill the area which I believe was coming from the drain in the shower, or hole in the floor of the hot tube room. It was BAD!! We just decided to close the door and not even use that third bathroom, but eventually the back half of the house smelled very bad. Not the worst thing in the world, but when you have that many people staying in one place and you loose a bathroom, not very convenient when riding the local sand dunes every day. There was also random visitors or maintenance people for the grounds that seemed to come daily. So we had a lot of unannounced visits and people getting into the garage which we were not forewarned about. Other RV guests would also walk right through the backyard. Kept us a bit on guard as we were not forewarned about it. Wanted to rate the house higher as Brett was so nice and easy to deal with, But the sewer smell overruled the rating as it did the whole back half of the house. Overall a good home, but the experience fell fairly short of matching the price of the rental.
When we opened the front door the entire house had a musty smell noticed by my entire party. The large picnic table had sandwich crumbs left by someone, and the fan in the large living room does not work. Also, the wood burning stove in the same room does not work. The lodge is advertised as a private lake, however it is shared with a RV park and we had complete strangers walking through the yard during our stay. At one point someone pulled a truck up, with trailer caught fish directly behind the patio door, placed the fish about 30 in a tank and drove off. I attempted to contact the owner to no avail. Would I stay in the lodge again yes, but these items would have to be fixed and an accurate explanation of “private” explained. Thank you!
Steven I am so sorry about this experience. We installed a new septic tank here just before your stay. We noticed it after you had checked out and then the family after you mentioned the same thing. We have had the company back out and they have now installed new venting for the bathroom in the hot tub room. Sorry we mislead you with the private lake. It is private in that we own it but we do also own the RV Park and allow the guests to fish. It is a 33 acre lake and we think is it still not busy. We do need to address people walking and coming back by the home. We plan to install a fence that will keep the RV'ers away from the house and give you some more privacy.
If you decide to come back please let me know and I will make sure to offer you 20% off the rental price for your troubles. Thanks for staying with us.

The trash cans are not clean. The floors were sticky, in general kind of run down. Needs cosmetic maintenance. Over all, plenty of room, convenient, well equipped. Would like to have the sauna repaired and the hot tub cleaned and use of at least one garage.
Thank you for your feed back. We will address each of those and hope to show you the improvements if you can come again. Thanks
We had a great time
We truly enjoyed our time at Wakeside and are hoping to return again with an even larger family group next year.
Thanks for choosing to stay with us. We would love to have you back again next year.
