Fantastic 3 BDRM Apt With Amazing NYC & Water views Just 10 min from midtown NYC

Overview

About the property

Our quiet, spacious apartment has amazing NYC & Hudson River views! The photo of the views was taken from inside the apt. It is a beautiful, large 3 bedroom: separate living room, dining room and kitchen.

The space is unique because you have incredible NYC, water and sky views in a large apartment that also has a backyard and is quiet but is still very close to all of the excitement of NYC. Just 10 mins from Midtown Manhattan.

Guests also have access to a front out door porch with big NYC views, a backyard and free washer and dryer in the basement. There is also free Internet wifi and free cable TV in the apartment.

We let our guests just enjoy themselves but if they need anything a property manager is right on the premises to assist.

I love this neighborhood because it is very safe and you have incredible views of one the greatest cities on earth. All the beauty without the hustle and bustle - a great retreat to wind down after touring the City. You have outdoor space both with the amazing views and a relaxing atmosphere. Our Boulevard is great for romantic strolls in the evening after a day of adventure in NYC (which is just minutes away). There are several great restaurants in the area and a major grocery store within walking distance.

Easy transportation - NJ Transit Bus at the corner which goes directly to Port Authority or community bus that uses the same route. These buses run all hours of the night and day. If you prefer to go across the Hudson, the ferry is only a short walk away - and a beautiful 7 minute ride to NYC. Taxis are always a another option. There are several in West NY and NY Yellow Cabs come to West NY frequently.

Great Mexican restaurant down the road - Charritos, and Benitos italian restaurant up the road. Grocery shopping close by.

Great views, good sized rooms.

  • 3 of 5

The amazing views do not compensate for the drawbacks. Inadequate cleaning was especially noticeable in the only bathroom where the shower curtain was moldy despite a month-old review mentioning it. Fresh mouse droppings appeared on the kitchen counters each morning. A sign warned against the use of a hair dryer in the bathroom, but we also learned one can't use an iron in the kitchen while the microwave is in use. We waited over an hour for power to return as the circuit breaker box is not accessible. Room furnishings were minimal - most rooms have only a ceiling light fixture, no table lamps. Two bedrooms lacked dressers, mirrors and any furniture other than a bed an nightstand. The apartment sleeps six however the coffee maker only makes two cups at a time. Both the exterior and interior stairs are very steep and especially challenging when carrying luggage.

On the plus side, this property has good sized rooms, plenty of hot water, towels and the beds are very comfortable. With a little more attention, it could be a decent place to stay.

Great view and neighborhood... but could use better cleaning

  • 3 of 5

Safe neighborhood close to several good restaurants & transportation. The beds need new mattresses and shower curtain had mold all over it.. the improvements are superficial and if corrected it would be a great rental.

View is spectacular, bus to NYC is easy to catch!

  • 4 of 5

This older, uniquely styled home was a great place to stay. Our family of five adults had plenty of space to sleep, eat, and relax on the 2nd floor. There were plenty of window a/c units so the rooms stayed cool even on a very hot day. The kitchen had a new, clean fridge and plenty of dishware if a family wanted to buy their own food/cook there to save money on meals. The dining table area was very roomy.

The view (of the NYC skyline) was definitely spectacular as mentioned in the description! You can enjoy it from inside by looking out the huge front windows, by sitting on the front porch of the home, or by strolling on the sidewalk across the street from the house. It felt like a very safe area as we hung out as a family and took lots of photos for quite awhile after enjoying the day in New York City. .

The only downside of our trip was that we couldn't find a parking space in the residential area near the house (we arrived around 10pm) so we had to park a few blocks away. Next time, we will have a better understanding of the different types of passes needed based on the streets/areas where we park in order to avoid being ticketed (new adventures often provide new learning experiences).

Overall, our family agreed that this home provided us with a great way to enjoy our first trip to the New Jersey/New York area. The owner was helpful when we had questions and the home itself was on a street with a beautiful view and easy bus access to NYC (Port Transit building where lots of tourist info can be obtained).

Fantastic place to stay

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 6 stayed here for 5 nights. The unit is immaculately clean and extremely spacious. We all had room to roam and spread out. The beds were VERY comfortable. I wish I could have taken it back to Chicago with me :). There are 3 A/C units in the place. Some caution needs to be taken so that the electrical lines don't get overloaded and short circuit. We did that the first morning we were there but it was quickly turned back on for us. And last but not least- THAT VIEW. The view alone is worth every penny. What a way to wake up every morning and to see all glittering at night while sitting on the couch. It was amazing.

Street parking is ample. The place you buy the passes is a bit of a hike but my advice is to try to do that in the morning before heading into the city. The bus stop is about 500ft from the front door of the house. We found the Transit system to be very reasonable cost wise. The bus into Port Authority is $3.50 adult/one-way and $1.50 child/one-way. Children are FREE on weekends and holidays. Make sure you know this because we had a driver try to tell us differently at one point. From Port Authority, (essentially Times Square) you can take the subway or walk wherever you need to go. We never had to wait more the 5min for a bus to come.

Overall I would definitely stay here again. It was so nice at the end of the day to leave the hustle and bustle of the city and come home to the peace and quiet of the apartment.
