the building was easy to find. The room was decent. It had a kitchen. The location was great. downhill from all of that.
When I arrived Thursday night, August 11, I was greated with the snobbiest, most rudest security guard while checking in. It was my first time in Chicago and first time at that place so i thought I just had to give my name, not know any other information. Well, because I didn't give her the information she wanted, she yelled at me and made me feel like I was bothering her.
Days 2-4 the hot water stopped working. Called multiple times to see if it would get fixed, and every time, they told me it would be fixed by that night, it wasn't. Taking freezing cold showers 3 days in a row isn't fun.
The last day, at 10am a maid came into the room, very rudely, and scared me while I was getting ready and said that check out was at 10. My reservation said check out was at 11. I told her that and she rolled her eyes and said, "no check out is always at 10" and slammed the door.
I emailed again about the cold water issue and about the maid coming in early, just in case they charged me a late fee of some sort for the confusion. Haven't heard anything back even though they say they respond within 24 hours. It's been 6 days.
It was my birthday weekend so I tried to ignore the rude staff and have fun and I did manage to have a great weekend, outside of the building.
I did like this place because of its location but that's pretty much it, everything seemed easy up until I arrived there. They seem to respond back before your trip and during, but once you're gone and paid for everything, they forget about you.
Overall, I would recommend this property. The building is in rough shape (frayed carpet in the lobby, broken up tile floors, peeling paint on the walls etc.), but the room itself was well maintained and clean. The presence of a doorman/security guard at the front door 24 hours a day was reassuring that the poor maintenance of the building did not reflect the safety of the location.
There was some confusion about my reservation with SP Suites when I checked in, the wrong dates were marked. SP Suites' employee Mike quickly resolved issue after a couple of quick phone calls and apologized for the stress caused by the confusion.
House in an excellent area, central and close to every tourist attraction. My apartment was on the 19th floor clean and complete with everything needed for cooking and bathroom products. Also pass to do the cleaning. Free WiFi. I recommend to everyone.
