Prime location - this Napili plantation style home is located in beautiful Napili and directly across the Lower Honoapiilani Road is the world famous white sand beache of Napili Bay. This fully furnished 2000 sq ft home has been in the owner’s family for over 5 generations and like most Hawaiian plantation style houses is designed and decorated for the casual Hawaiian lifestyle.

This four bedroom gem sleeps up to eight people and is ideal for one large family or two families that would like separate living space while being together at the same time. The home features an open floor plan with a main living area, dining room and fully equipped kitchen. There is additional living space (including a wet bar) which is divided by the entryway/sunroom providing additional room for families or friends traveling together. Air conditioning available in the bedrooms - $22 daily fee.


Two of the bedrooms feature queen beds, one has has a king bed and one bedroom has twin beds. The two master bedrooms have their own private bathrooms. Plus there are two additional tiled bathrooms with a bath/shower combination. Sleeps a total of six eight people.


The kitchen features a granite counter top bar with seating for three, and the dining table seats eight The home has all full sized appliances: refrigerator, dishwasher, electric radiant cooktop, and oven. Plus all the cookware, dinnerware, flatware, and glassware you might need during your stay.


Its prime location places it just steps to the Napili Bay, a tranquil , leeward bay with one of the best beaches in the world. From the southwest facing beach, you will enjoy amazing sunsets with views of our neighbor islands: Lana’i and Moloka’i. The protective reef keeps the waters calm and suitable for snorkeling, paddle boarding, and swimming. Water sports equipment can be rented a short walk from your accommodation. This fabulous home sits just south of Kapalua which boasts additional magnificent beaches, two championship golf courses, and several wonderful restaurants. A short drive to the south will bring you to the famous town of Ka'anapali which is home to another popular white sand beach, two world class golf courses, numerous popular eateries, some of the best shopping on the island, and many fun watersport activities.

The uniqueness of the house comes with its location and history. This residential neighborhood was once considered a very remote area of Maui where a handful of Hawaiian fishing families lived. In more recent historic times it was surrounded by a multitude of orchards that Honolua Ranch manager David T. Fleming planted in an effort to diversify Ranching operations. The historic Honolua Ranch headquarters were located up Office Road, by the Ritz Carlton Hotel. The Seahouse restaurant across the street at the Napili Kai Resort, was originally the Managers Club for the Honolua Ranch at a time when there where no hotels along Napili Bay. During that time, the owner's great Aunt Lahela lived in a house right where this house is today. There were few other homes around. The few that were nearby were other Hawaiian families, and the Ranch managers. There were plantation camps located along what is now Office Road, where the Ritz Carlton is today. The plantation camps were generally set up by race with individuals and families of Hawaiians, Chinese, and Japanese ancestry living in separate 'camps'. Those who lived at these camps were employees of Honolua Ranch and then D.T. Fleming's plantation/orchards. Napili became a vacation destination in the 1960's and most the condo's and hotels you see there today were built around that time. The Napili house property and the pocket of residential homes immediately surrounding it are some of the last vestiges of the Hawaiian community, and Hawaiian families, that were present prior to the Honolua Ranch era and prior to the areas transformation into a vacation destination. It captures the essence of 'old' Hawaii.

There are three additional beaches within walking distance (within a mile) north of the house; Kapalua Bay, Oneloa Bay (Ironwoods), and Honokahua Bay (Fleming Beach Park, fronting the Ritz-Carlton Kapalua). All of these beaches are spectacular and beautiful and the Kapalua Coastal Trail connects them all! The Coastal Trail makes for an amazing walk or run any time of day! This trail passes some of Maui’s most pristine sand dune ecosystems as well as an ‘U‘au (Hawaiian dark-rumped petrel) sanctuary at Hawea Point. This trail also connects to the Village Walking Trails and the Honolua Ridge and Maunalei Arboretum Trail systems are nearby. Please inquire about cultural tours of Maui. If you choose to walk along the Lower Road to Kapalua Drive, you will pass several world-class restaurants; the Seahouse Restaurant at the Napili Kai Hotel, Merriman’s Kapalua, The Pineapple Grill and the Plantation House, just to name a few.

There are a variety of activities that you can enjoy in walking distance that include swimming, snorkeling, hiking, boating, tennis, golf and surfing. Ka‘anapali is 5.8 miles south and Lahaina Town is 9.4 miles south. There you can enjoy more beaches, shopping, dining and lots of fun activities and entertainment.

Napili cottage

Our family enjoyed staying at this adorable plantation cottage across the road from beautiful Napili Bay.

A very nice alternative to beachside condos, more privacy, very laid back place with a local feel.

The cottage slept 6 which was a bit tight but absolutely perfect for 4-5. Owners were helpful and welcoming. We enjoyed cooking at home but there are also very good restaurants within walking distance.

Would definitely come back again.

My Dream Hawaiian Vacation!

I LOVE this beautiful paradise. The area is extremely calm and friendly. the gentle breezes from the ocean are so nice, and the relaxed comfort was absolutely fabulous! I LOVE this peaceful and quiet/tranquil neighborhood...such a "gem" and rare to find! Where else can one stay on a real "Old Hawaiian Plantation?" The management team really showed us lovely Hawaiian hospitality and friendliness...I cannot wait to come back and bring my extended family (there was so much room we didn't use!) I am so refreshed to start back to work! Lovely vacation! I will be back! PS= apparently, they are expanding to 4 bedrooms! WOW!

Not as expected

I have booked numerous vacation rentals thru VRBO and this is the first I have even been really disappointed. The house was as pictured and it was clean. On the inside it looked as expected. It was the outside that was surprising. We have been to Napili Bay before and this was not what we expected. There were people walking thru the property at all hours. Animals as well seemed everywhere, dogs and chickens. The roaster was not just in the morning. The houses behind the rental were messy looking, to put it nicely. And there were a lot of children around. They road dirt bikes all around the property.

It was not what we were looking for. There wasn't a good outside space that was private in anyway. We left early.

We are sorry that your experience with the 'neighborhood' with was less than desirable and have taken measures to correct the issues you outlined in this review. We have built a new wall behind the house making the back area private. Our home is a duplex so there were long term tenants next door - we have converted the entire home to a vacation rental which resolves the amount of activity around the property. We are confident that these modifications will make our guests much more comfortable and able to enjoy our home and the area as much as we do. Mahalo.

Wish we booked longer

It was our first visit to Hawaii and was well worth the trip. The house was super cute with comfy beds and everything we needed for our stay. When we noticed the blender didnt work for our welcome margharitas, a new one was left on the doorstep the next morning!!

Great week in Napili

the house is great, high ceilings, great kitchen, comfy beds, nice showers (inside and outside the house), beautiful huge tree in the yard. Location: perfect, amazing beach across the road (with a nice restaurant) and other beaches south and north, walking distances or short drive. One hour drive from the airport. 3 min drive from a good grocery store (Whole Foods-like). Great customer service, answered all my questions fast.

minor negatives (not enough for us to remove one star, maybe half a star): the picture of the house is somewhat misleading, it is attached to another house (or rather the large house is split into too, with a simple door in the middle) - the neighbors were fairly quiet but we could hear them from time to time (although never late at night or too early in the morning). Similarly, as mentioned by the other reviews, lots of dogs and chicken in the area, and the local roosters wake up early...

Paradise perfect!

We spent a week in the Plantation cottage. Four people, perfectly comfortable. The cottage is tastefully decorated and is amazingly well equipped. The kitchen and bathrooms have absolutely everything you need and there is even a cupboard with beach chairs, boogie boards, mask and snorkel etc. The cottage is literally across the street from one of the most beautiful snorkelling beaches on Maui. We highly recommend this cottage - we loved it!
