About Brenda Hendrix
A Note from the owners: We're Brett and Kim Turner, residents of Savannah Georgia. Kim's from Connecticut and Brett from Florida. Kim's a periodontist and Brett a real estate developer and investor. We're both very active and enjoy outdoor activities such as cycling, running and yoga. We met through our mutual interest in competing in triathlons. We love to travel, art, cooking, spending time outdoors with our dogs (rescue) and, of course, escaping to our Hideaway on St Simons Island every weekend that we can! Due to our busy lifestyle, we have brought Brenda on board to manage the property. We hope that our hideaway will be a special place for you to make memories with your family or to enjoy a romantic weekend away, as it has been for us.
Brenda Hendrix purchased this House in 2012
Why Brenda Hendrix chose East Beach
We searched St Simons Island for two years before purchasing Hideaway. The beach and views were very important to us and most of St Simons Island has tidal beaches. Only a small stretch of East Beach, approximately 15 homes, are directly on the beach with views of Gould's inlet, so when Hideaway became available, we jumped at it!
What makes this House unique
We put as much into the outdoor spaces as the indoors, the outdoor living areas on the ocean are spectacular. Private heated salt water pool surrounded by palm trees, and oleanders other tropical plantings, it feels like your own tropical oasis. Kids love the first floor of the home, the beachy bunk rooms with port hole maps and the hand painted artist mural of St Simons Island on the rec room wall. Views, views and more views!

Great place to get together with all the family. Beautiful home and the views are extraordinary. Property manager, Brenda, was awesome!
Great family beach vacation
Our group (6 adults and 4 small children) thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We loved the house, amenities and comfy furniture. We spent our evenings on the back deck viewing the stars and enjoying the breeze. If you have a lot of beach equipment I recommend bringing a beach wagon with wide tires to assist with the walk down to the beach. The houses here are set back quite a bit from the ocean/beach which I really appreciate bc the natural beauty of the dunes has been preserved. We booked a family photo shoot during our stay and the dunes were the perfect setting!
Nice property. It is as presented in the pictures. Shore fishing in July is dead but grabbed a charter and snagged a Tarpon! Local rep is great to work with. Comcast is kind of shakey, as everywhere. Local area is nice. Recommended.
Beautiful beach house. Attentive and responsive management
This house is amazing. Stunning views. Great outdoor seating. Beautiful kitchen. I loved that there was nice soaps, bath and beach towels, bikes and beach chairs. The house was better equipped than many beach houses and I’ve never had such helpful service from management. My only comment for improvement would be the bedroom description. I was unaware that two of the bedrooms were in the basement. This was not a big deal, but would have been nice to know.
St. Simon stay
Best beach house. Great beach. Long walk to the beach.
Beautiful, relaxing oceanfront oasis
I just returned from spending 4 days 3 nights at this property with a group of 4 couples, and it was exactly what we were looking for. There is an incredibly impressive beach-facing deck with room for lounging, dining, a fire-pit, and just gazing out at the ocean. We never wanted to leave to do anything else on the island! The kitchen was equipped with everything we needed, and the owners were kind enough to stock the house with enough of the basics to get us started (i.e. toilet paper, toiletries). The pool is under the deck - this was part of the oasis-like experience for us. After spending hours on the beach, we would retire to the pool where the late-afternoon sun would sparkle through the trees, and soak in the shaded pool and listen to music before showering for dinner. We were grateful for the pool's location, as we had already had plenty of sun out on the beach! To get to the beach, you walk through beautiful dunes and tidal pools to pick a spot, but it doesn't take long, and it was honestly easy for us to pop back up to the house to grab things, make lunch, etc. This is my personal experience with southern coastal beaches - they are long beaches when the tide is out, and it adds to the beauty of the scenery. The master suite was gorgeous - huge bathroom, wall to wall windows with a semi-private deck and a gorgeous view of the sunrise every morning. Heaven. I will note - this house may suit families with younger children or groups of 3 couples vs. more, only because, even though there are 5 bedrooms, 2 of them are bunkrooms in the basement with minimal light and space - something that made me feel personally guilty about the couple staying down there who had paid as much as we did, yet had a very different sleeping experience. I understand that, due to coastal flooding, it makes sense to keep the bottom floor more simple, but just want to manage expectations! Perfect for kids, because there is a game room with ping pong and it is opens out onto the pool! Also VERY worth it if you are 3 couples traveling so you can all enjoy the top floor, or if you honestly don't care where you sleep. It is a personal preference!
Thank you so much to the owners and the property manager for ensuring such a lovely stay. I also loved the birthday card and welcome gift! This rental is a fantastic find.
