Overview

About the property

Serenity Point- a 2003 Cape boasting 3 BR/2BA home recently renovated, kayaks

Welcome to Serenity Point! Our home is perfectly situated on a peninsula with 200’ of water frontage on beautiful Damariscotta Lake! It is the perfect place to shut off your phone, spend some quality time with the family, or just read a great book. It is a rural setting yet only 15 minutes to coastal Damariscotta where you will find fine dining, theatre, shopping, and live music. Although situated on a lake, you will find ocean activities close by from Boothbay Harbor, to Rockland, and Pemiquid Lighthouse all within a 40-minute drive.

Our home, built in 2003, is a charming, 2-story cape with 3 BR/2BA that sleeps eight (8). It has all the modern conveniences we have come to expect plus a charming lake house with nautical décor. The first floor consists of an open concept kitchen and dining experience with all the necessary appliances and cookware for your lobster, clam bake or fish fry (caught fresh on the lake). The dining area opens onto the wrap-around deck for sitting and relaxing. The first floor also has two of the three bedrooms, and a three-quarter bath with washer and dryer. The Alewives’ Room, the local fish that spawn in the lake, boasts a queen bed and decorated in lake décor. Adjacent to The Alewives’ room is The Bunk Room, holding two sets of twin bunk beds, with a nautical theme.

Upstairs, you’ll find the master bedroom—The Moose Room—which holds a queen-sized bed with an en-suite full-bath which boasts a jet tub for soaking. Also upstairs is an open concept living room and office space, opening to an upper balcony overlooking beautiful Damariscotta Lake. Enjoy a nightcap on the upper deck while the children are entertained with a movie in the adjoining living room.

In the basement, you will find a recreational room with a ping pong table and foosball for those days of inside fun. There are also myriad board games, dice games and, of course, a cribbage board.

The setting on beautiful Damariscotta Lake is amazing. The property boasts a dock and a sitting platform near the water. A picnic table is situated outside for dining amid the natural surroundings. Two sit-on-top kayaks are provided to allow guests to explore all that this gorgeous lake has to offer. The house is on the east side of the lake allowing you to enjoy amazing sunset views.

Serenity Point is an amazing place to relax while enjoying the beauty and activities that Damariscotta Lake and the surrounding coastal areas afford.

About Tammy Amnott

We are the Amnott Family. We have been coming to Damariscotta Lake for 5 summers now and decided that we wanted to continue making family memories here for many years to come. Glenn and I have three sons (21,20,11). We have enjoyed boating, kayaking, hanging on the dock, roasting marshmallows by the fire, and the many other things this area has to afford. We both have full time jobs which wouldn't allow us to visit every weekend so we have decided to share our home with other folks so that they can experience the joy that our family has found on the lake. Glenn and I both grew up in Massachusetts (Glenn on the North Shore and Tammy on the South Shore) but moved to NH in 2001. Glenn is a West Point graduate (1990) and received his MBA from The Whittemore Business School at UNH in 2004. Tammy, a graduate of the University of MA, Dartmouth, 1993 earned an M.Ed in Education from Curry College in 2001. We are thrilled to be able to share this amazing property with you--we trust you will love it as much as we do.

Tammy Amnott purchased this house in 2015

Why Tammy Amnott chose Damariscotta Lake

It wasn't a difficult choice to purchase Serenity Point. When I got out of the car the setting was just like no other we had seen on the lake. It was . . . for lack of a better description . . . peaceful. It made me feel so homey and comfortable and I hadn't even stepped in the house yet. Another important aspect was the west-facing views that allow viewing of the amazing Damariscotta Lake sunsets. One of my favorite things to do in the evening is sit on the dock with a cocktail or cup of tea and watch the sun go down. Our goal is to be able to continue making family memories and eventually retire here for the summertime months...but that is a LONG ways away.

What makes this house unique

Another reason we chose Damariscotta Lake is its proximity to the ocean. After living on Cape Cod for 10 years, I (Tammy) have a love of the ocean and with Damariscotta just a few minutes away and Pemiquid Lighthouse just a tad farther it gives me great access to that ocean smell, sand and sound. Glenn loves a lake growing up on Keuka Lake (NY Finger Lakes) as he always says you can do so much more in a lake than the ocean, well, I have come to understand and appreciate that thought. I have watched my 11 year old son go from a timid 5 year old, very cautious about the water to become a confident youngster who now swims like a fish, tubes like an adrenaline junky and climbs trees as high as possible to jump out of them in order to launch out of a rope swing into the lake. It has not only become a special place for our family to have fun but I have seen a family come even closer by playing silly dice games at night, float in inner tubes and go to town to see the famous pumpkin chunker at the Pumpkinfest in October. The sunsets are going to knock your socks off from the dock, deck and balcony so kick back, relax and put on your flip flops and make some memories.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We really enjoyed our stay. Your house and property were a perfect match for us. Although we used it as a home base for visiting colleges part of the time, when we weren't on the road, it was a wonderful place to relax and have fun in the water. Everything got used: from the ping pong table, upper and lower porches, fire pit, kayaks, dock, and the sitting platform by the water.

Great house in a great location

  • 5 of 5

We have been going to Damariscotta Lake for years but wanted easier access to water (and wi-fi ;-)) and this house was perfect. A little adjusting to the upstairs living room but the view is wonderful and the water access is very easy.

Perfect location on the water

  • 5 of 5

This location is wonderful if you want to be outdoors all day and night! We loved walking out the back door and getting right into the water! When not swimming, we sat on the dock, staying cool in the breeze and admiring the scenery. Every night we enjoyed a fire after dark. The home had all the amenities we needed and more, and the living room inside the house was so comfortable as well but we didn't even want to be indoors at all! If we take another Maine vacation, we will return to Serenity Point!

Perfect lakefront retreat

  • 5 of 5

Best trip we have ever taken with our 4 boys! This home had everything we needed to truly enjoy our time at the lake-bunk room for the kids, well-equipped kitchen, big farm table for dining and game-playing, huge yard for exploring, laying in hammock, building a bonfire, and playing with water soakers. Comfy TV room but we didn't even turn it on! Spent the days on stand up paddle boards (rented at Maine Katak), kayaking, fishing off the dock, playing on the dock, digging up clams, looking for frogs, swimming, enjoying the beautiful view from the lakeside deck. We didn't schedule many activities, but we all enjoyed the Hardy Boat Seal Tour (saw the lobster boats up close as well). We got fresh baked goods and produce at The Spear Farm Stand. Homemade ice cream at Round Top. Excellent groceries at Hannafords. Loved having such a clean, well-maintained lake home as our home base. We can't wait to come back!

Wonderful Family Vacation Spot

  • 5 of 5

The house was beautiful and in wonderful condition! Great view from the porch and very close to the lake! Brand new dock that is great for adults and children. The view down the lake from the dock is unforgetable! We enjoyed the dock for the sunshine during the day and at night to watch for falling stars which we saw many of:).

We enjoy the Lobster Festival and this home is only a short distance to the Lobster Festival. It's also very close to the famous Moody Diner which is a must try!!!

Wonderful home to visit, great location, and wonderful family memories made here very easily! You feel right at home!

I know we'll definitely be back for another week to enjoy more wonderful family memories!!!!!
