Cozy, Quiet Hill Country Getaway

  • 5 of 5

The Tiny Home was comfortable and cozy, it is on a street with a few other tiny homes nestled in the Texas Hill Country. It is located about equal distance between San Antonio and Austin, roughly an hour or so away. Also, New Braunfels and Gruene are nearby, which are great towns to explore. The unit was stocked with everything you need; coffee, creamer, and the fridge was stocked with bottled waters. It felt like staying in a home away from home. Also, the owner, Carol, was easy to communicate with and very quick to respond to messages. I'd definitely recommend this property to travelers to the Hill Country who want to getaway and relax, and I plan to stay at another Tiny Home on future trips out this way.

Great location for short or long term stay!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed in Staples for three months this winter. Property is neat, clean, and has everything you need. Owners are very close and quick to respond to questions/concerns. We have family in San Antonio and Austin so location was perfect. Don't forget to check out the music scene in nearby Gruene!

Perfect San Marcos Getaway

  • 5 of 5

This tiny house was perfect for my family of four. Could probably have squeezed in a couple of other kids in the loft if needed. A private bedroom with a queen bed, and two double beds in a loft (adults will have to crawl, but perfect for kids). Everything you need, including dishes, platicware, grill, and games. I would definitely stay here again.

To let you know what to expect, the house is around a 15 minute drive from San Marcos in a cute little town named Staples. Nothing really there except for a cute little park a short walk from the house with HUGE oak trees. The town is all older houses, but most are well-kept. There is a vacant trailer behind the home, but it's in good shape. There is also a cemetery at the end of the road. If that bothers you I guess it could be a problem, but it was no problem for us. There are about four of these tiny homes on the street. The street is lined in beautiful trees, and there is fun decorative lighting between the homes and a nice gravel drive for each home. They all also have very nice porches to enjoy the quiet!

The owner/manager is named Carol, and her emails were very clear. There was a message to me and my family on the chalkboard welcoming us, and a case of bottled water in the fridge! What else can you ask for?

Overall, great place to stay and would definitely recommend it.
