The house is near the Staples Historic Park, Staples Historic Cemetery, and the San Marcos River (The owner does not provide access to the SM River). Staples is a quiet town with a population of 267. Be prepared to relax.
Even though the house is located in a small town, it is centrally located between Austin and San Antonio. You will be about 5 minutes from Martindale (tubing), 15 minutes from San Marcos (shopping, Texas State University), 20 minutes from COTA (Circuits of the Americas), 10 minutes from Lockhart (BBQ) and 25 minutes from New Braunfels (tubing, Gruene Hall).
This property is in downtown Staples. The city doesn't have any street lights or stores. Be prepared to relax and enjoy all the benefits of Central Texas, without the crowds. The birds, stars and sunrises are amazing. You can canoe from Martindale to Staples. The place is ideal for cyclist and nature lovers.
Carol Wester purchased this house in 2014
This house is part of a 'tiny town' that's under development.
Quiet surroundings with all the benefits of Central Texas. We have three other homes (on this property) if you have a group event.
Very nice, clean and new property that was stocked with everything we needed and more. We plan to come back!
Very peaceful stay in a cute, cozy cottage. Outside grill and lights allows for quaint eating. Kid and dog friendly.
This tiny house was perfect for my family of four. Could probably have squeezed in a couple of other kids in the loft if needed. A private bedroom with a queen bed, and two double beds in a loft (adults will have to crawl, but perfect for kids). Everything you need, including dishes, platicware, grill, and games. I would definitely stay here again.
To let you know what to expect, the house is around a 15 minute drive from San Marcos in a cute little town named Staples. Nothing really there except for a cute little park a short walk from the house with HUGE oak trees. The town is all older houses, but most are well-kept. There is a vacant trailer behind the home, but it's in good shape. There is also a cemetery at the end of the road. If that bothers you I guess it could be a problem, but it was no problem for us. There are about four of these tiny homes on the street. The street is lined in beautiful trees, and there is fun decorative lighting between the homes and a nice gravel drive for each home. They all also have very nice porches to enjoy the quiet!
The owner/manager is named Carol, and her emails were very clear. There was a message to me and my family on the chalkboard welcoming us, and a case of bottled water in the fridge! What else can you ask for?
Overall, great place to stay and would definitely recommend it.
The Cabin was more then we could have ever expected!😊 Carol and Cheryl, were there when needed and Carol saved Breakfast with Jelly for homemade biscuits! Truly an amazing place and would come back again! Being in a wheelchair I Was able to move around the house! Love the whole concept of these cabins! Great place, family fun! A Tranquil place in the nice town of Staples! Ps Happy Holidays All🦃🌲🎁🎉☃ Donna & Preston
This place was great! We visit San Marcos often as our daughter goes to Texas State University. We've always stayed at a hotel. We prefer a house for visiting and ability to cook. The tiny house is awesome. The owners have thought of everything. Plenty of towels, coffee, creamer, bottled water in the fridge and everything you need for cooking. The space was great, not small at all. We grilled outside and the front porch was great for eating or just relaxing. Nice quiet area and just a short drive into town. We will definitely be back to the area soon and book here. Thanks for a great stay!
Stayed here for our Girls Weekend getaway. First of all we loved the thought of staying in a tiny house and were amazed at how roomy it was. Carol thought of everything! From the welcome sign to the well stocked kitchen to the much loved coffee bar and supplies. The beds were so comfortable! She also had board games, plenty of towels and we even discovered something for fur babies! Short drives to lockhart (amazing BBQ), San Marcos, Wimberley (market days), etc. it was a perfect getaway spot. Thank you so much Carol!
