English Basement apartment in an 1891 brownstone on East Capitol St. in the heart of the Capitol Hill historic district. The US Capitol, Supreme Court, the Library of Congress and National Mall are just a short walk from this completely renovated one bedroom apartment.

There are dozens of restaurants, cafes and bars within a few minutes walk. It is 3.5 blocks from historic Eastern Market.

Capitol Bike Share is located a block away at Lincoln Park.

Completely furnished and outfitted with all new kitchen pots, pans, silverware, dishes, linens, towels, hair dryer. Everything you would need for a visit to DC.

The living room has a 42' TV with DirecTV and the sofa opens to a bed for guests. The kitchen has an electric ceramic top range, microwave, garbage disposal, dishwasher, full size refrigerator. The dining area has seating for 6 and an additional breakfast bar with 2 stools. The bedroom, with a queen bed has a 27' TV and french doors that open to a brick patio area. The apartment has 15 to 20 feet of closets! At the end of the hall of closets is a full size washer and dryer. The bath has a tub/shower combination. The apartment has its own central ac/heat. WIFI is included.

The apartment is exactly advertised as in the VRBO listing. Owner and housekeeper very accommodating to our needs. We love the location. Close to everything we wanted to do . We walked a lot, took Uber, and were able to visit all the places we wanted to visit. The neighborhood is safe, quiet, and quite lovely.

great location in historic section of town

the Eastern Market district is beautiful. great cafes and the actual market is well stocked. We purchased groceries and used the kitchen most nights. the little P&C market around the corner has a wide variety of wine/beer. The basement unit is dark as can be expected but clean. Having a washer/dryer is wonderful. There really is NO patio as advertised. The owner was not in town but her housekeeper responded. There was a hiccup with the wifi but the owner resolved it immediately. I would recommend the district but the actual unit is a steep stairwell decent upon entering and has low ceilings and only 1 window with sunlight in the whole apartment. We walked to all the monuments and museums and used

the metro and busline for farther reaching locations. All the transportation in D.C. is perfect - so well organized and clean and safe!

Perfet Size in Perfect Area

This is a great walk-out basement apartment 10 short blocks from the U.S Capitol and 15 minutes from Union Station. Before we went on vacation, we bought Metro passes, but this place is so well-located we never used them! Very bright and clean, just like the pictures show. The main bedroom is large and the bed itself quite comfy. It has it's own AC and thermostat, plus a dehumidifier, which is a huge plus in humid summers. The neighborhood is quiet and we felt safe regardless of the time of day or night. You do occasionally hear the family upstairs but its still quitter than most hotels I've been in. Plus, since its in a nice residential area, there a bazillion great restaurants that cater to the local clientele rather than being tourist traps. There are several small markets nearby as well. The kitchen has everything you need to prepare breakfast, lunch or dinner (except food of course) and the washer and dryer were lifesavers after a long day walking in the sun. My only caveat is that the bathroom is en suite with the bedroom, which might be a bit awkward if you're rooming with someone other than family, but that's a minor issue. Tons of storage in the closets and plenty of towels, linens and other supplies. This is one of those places that's so nice, you want to keep it clean and tidy as you found it!

Super Location

We enjoyed our time here immensely! Conveniently located to the Eastern Market and the metro there and also within walking distance of the Capitol, etc.

Stove looked brand new, marble counter tops, clean and comfortable. There was one small glitch with wifi, but Andrea was prompt in her attention to the issue.

This was great place for a couple!!

Home Away from Home

This apartment was just what we needed! We stayed for a couple of weeks and it became our home base for vacation AND a surprise appendectomy for my son. The apartment was spotless and comfortably furnished. The kitchen contained all of the necessities plus some. There were plenty of linens and a lot of storage space (closets, etc.). The washer and dryer were a definite plus! I think my favorite thing about this Capitol Hill apartment was the location. It is located in the most beautiful and pleasant neighborhood just blocks from the U.S. Capitol, U.S. Supreme Court, national mall, etc.... There are great restaurants within walking distance as well. It was just fun walking through the neighborhood to get to our destination! Looking at the gardens and beautifully painted old city homes was a treat in itself! Eastern Market on the weekend was a favorite (and is the closest Metro station). We learned to use Waze in D.C. versus Google maps (definitely recommended) and Uber became our friend as we realized that we could Uber almost as cheaply - and definitely more conveniently - than using the Metro system. The owner, Andrea, was a great resource and help. She was wonderfully kind and made our stay special. Her property caretaker, Rosario, was super attentive and available when we had needs. It was a great experience for us to stay at the 1008 E. Capitol Hill NE basement apartment! We would do it again.
