Charming, spacious rental with easy walk to neighborhood beach. Owner is friendly / helpful

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our July stay here! It was so nice to be able to just stroll to the beach whenever we wanted,... no hassle of planning and loading up the car. We just loved the peaceful view from the beach of boats in the harbor. The water was clear and pretty. (Sigh.. I am back home in Colorado now, missing it already.) There is also a swim raft. Often we'd walk to the beach a few times a day. Our nearby relatives lent us kayaks, and it was close enough to the beach for the grown kids to carry them to the water.

The main house is very large, with effective portable AC unit for first floor and AC units in the upstairs bedroom windows. (Due to cooler nights and Cape Cod breezes, we didn't need it much downstairs, but nice to have just in case you get a scorcher week). There is lots of white wicker furniture that is pretty and beachy and comfortable. The carriage house adds even more space.. a definite perk! There is a huge dining room and other spaces to gather inside and outside .. our favorite spot was the large back screened porch. We were delighted to have beautiful weather, but it was handy to have lots of room inside if needed during rainy weather. (Keep this in mind when you are comparing rentals - some of the other Cape Cod rentals are really small inside, especially when they are this close to the water.)

There were 3 bathrooms, a nice thing for our multi-generation family group. Although there is an indoor shower, we all really enjoyed the enclosed hot-water outdoor shower. We travelled with carry-on luggage and were glad there was a washer/dryer. The kitchen and grill are ready for you to cook (just bring food), but there are several nice restaurants within a few miles too. Another bonus is 2 decks and also lots of grass. The runners in our group found there are some good options neighborhood runs.

Ginger was really easy to work with. We are so pleased that she and her family have opted to rent the their "Cape Cod Treasure" when they are not there.

Fall River

Quiet summer home

  • 2 of 5

Nice summer cottage in a quaint little town. Plenty of room for everyone! Huge yard and pets allowed. Several places to eat and Falmouth only 10 minutes away for shopping and more places to eat. Very clean. Neighbors friendly. Paid extra for linens but they were not put on the beds. Towels were locked also but owner quickly resolved the issue. Beach was very close, walking distance but water was not the clearest. It would've been better to have access to Hen's cove beach area and the lake nearby. You need to have a town pass and a little too far to walk. Several requests made to owner for pass prior to visit but unsuccessful. Security deposit not received in a timely manner, had to make three requests.

Owner's Response: I know the guests had a fabulous vacation ,as they have told me so. It is a beautiful house and a beautiful community to be a part of on vacation. I would like to clarify some of the above comments. Our home is situated on Barlows Landing Beach .As you can see by the map it is part of the Pocasset Harbor. For forty years , we have enjoyed this home raising our families. We were surprised at the mention of unclear water by this guest. The beach and water have been and are excellent quality ,tested by local officials weekly .The beach ,however, is subjected to the tides as beaches are on Cape Cod. Maximum enjoyment for swimming is enjoyed as the tide gets higher. There is a raft to swim to and a buoyed swimming area for young children . The repeated request by my guests for a parking sticker for Hen's Cove Beach is a mute point . Only property owners in the Town of Bourne may acquire a beach sticker which is affixed to the property owners car. We can park at any beach in Bourne and use the facilities. Our renters may go to town hall and acquire a temporary beach pass by showing their rental agreement. The sticker issued is for parking only at Monument Beach. It is not even valid for our Barlows Landing Beach . That is why our home is ideal .You can walk in 2 minutes to a beautiful sandy beach. The family could be dropped off at the beach and picked up at the end of their beach day if they chose to do that,as it is only the parking that prohibits one from staying and using any beach any where on the Cape. The lake the reviewer referred to is called Picture Lake. The guest did not ask me nor did they realize it is open to the public and they could have parked and used that swimming area. As far as the linens for the beds and the towels, my cleaning ladies were remiss in prepping for the guests and I have spoken to them regarding this issue. I apologized to our guests and directed them to the area where all fresh linens are stored. They were fine with this . And lastly , there was a request about the security deposit and a follow up text. Our family member mails the security deposit out in a timely manner once cleaning and inspection is completed. I hope this has clarified any possible confusion.Sincerely, Ginger,Will and Family .
