This Beach Cottage built in the early 1900's approximately a block from the beach. The cottage sits on two large lots in a tropical setting of palms, large banana trees, camellia's, and oleanders. You will relax outdoors on the front porch or in the garden patio area complete with grill and fire-pit. Sorry, not wheelchair accessible.
The two story property offers a true cottage feel with original hardwood floors and eleven foot ceilings upstairs. Here you find a cottage style kitchen, one bath, two bedrooms and a sitting room. The upstairs is furnished with one queen bed, one double bed and a queen sofa sleeper.
The downstairs area has a beach inspired decor that will brighten your day. There you will find two bedrooms providing a queen bed and two twin beds. Additionally you will find a day bed in the family room. Downstairs includes one bath and a large laundry room.
The property is located one mile west of the Island View Casino and close to Historic downtown Gulfport with some of the best seafood restaurants the coast has to offer. Also nearby you will find Gulfport harbor which includes a free children's splash park and hosts many festivals, boat shows, Ship Island excursions, and fishing charters.
Just steps away you will find the kid-friendly Westside park which includes a splash pad and the westside fishing pier. You will enjoy long walks on the white sandy beaches, watch the sunrise across the barrier islands. All the while experiencing what the Mississippi beach life has to offer.
For the Sportman, guided fishing trips can be arranged as well. The owner is an avid fisherman and local fishing guide. All tackle, bait, fish cleaning, and valuable information included. Check him out at WildBills-fishin-blog.simplesite.com.
This property has been in my family for many years. In the past we have shared this cottage with friends and family as a weekend getaway. We now offer our home as a vacation rental. Our family has always enjoyed the Coastal life. Fishing is one of our favorite things to do and we still enjoy it today.
Bill Hancock purchased this cottage in 1974
This property has been in our family for years. Our children and grand-children have many fond memories of times spent in this place. They look forward to using this place as their get-a-away. As it has been quoted, 'If you are lucky enough to live by the sea, you are lucky enough!'
The beach lifestyle is so accessible here. Everything is within walking distance or bike riding distance. No cars necessary to enjoy the sandy beaches or fishing piers. It is centrally located to the unique shops in Bay Saint Louis and Ocean Springs. There are so many festivals and events to experience; such as the fishing rodeo's. There is nothing like seeing the gamefish brought in daily during the Mississippi Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo, held annually on the Forth of July weekend. This event is held right down the street at the Gulfport Harbor/Jones Park.
The house was a super cozy home with plenty of room. The back yard was very nice. The house is well stocked with everything that you will need. It is a nice neighborhood and close to the beach. The only thing that we would recommend is putting a shower in the upstairs bathroom. Only have one shower makes it a little hard with a bigger group of guest.
This house was perfect for our family. At one point we had 7 of us at the house, and there was plenty of room and beds for everyone. Close enough to the beach that we could easily walk. Very quiet neighborhood with little traffic. The house was beautifully decorated with everything we needed. Even though there was only one TV, we managed! We would definitely want to stay here again. Thanks for sharing your home with us. My guys want to come back later and fish with you so we will be in contact.
We love this place and it was very hard to leave , this cottage we beautifully decorated and had everything needed to cook. The home owners where great to work with and just made it very easy to get this home booked. I would defiantly recommend if your staying in Gulfport or Biloxi you should stay here, you will not regret it! We will be back next summer! - Joyce Kitchens -- Kingwood , TX
Great place! Very comfortable and well kept. Close proximity to beach a major plus. Bill and Rebecca do whatever is necessary to make your stay pleasant. Will be back soon!
This home is incredible, its within a short walk to the beach, close to everything. If you're looking for a beach feel you cant beat this property. Everything was perfect, the house is decorated as my wife kept saying "it's so cute". I have a feeling we will be spending $ to buy some of the decorations for our home. Has everything you need. We will definitely be staying here again! Probably the only thing would be the shower which if you're tall you will need to duck down to use it.
What a most delightful location. As soon as you walked in the door you immediately felt welcomed. The cleanliness, attention to detail and "little extras" let you know you are welcomed! Every inch of this property is maintained and cared for, thank you. Sittin' on the front porch talking with family and friends while feeling the breeze from the Gulf was wonderful! We are looking forward to our next stay at "The Castaway"! M. S. Wesley, New Orleans ,Louisiana
