"Acienda" is in a "dry" county. It is best if you get your alcohol before you arrive. It is much cheaper in LasVegas.
We have the best of two world's. We are located half way between St. George (less than 20 miles) and Zion National Park (a little more than 20 miles). Acienda is located near the quaint town of Hurricane. St. George has shopping, restaurants, antique stores, and live theatres. Zion has hiking, biking along with great art galleries.
Our home is located in an exclusive subdivision with 30 other southwestern homes. We are located on 1.6 acres. The custom adobe home has acid etched floors through out the house with log pole ceilings. It is detailed with southwestern artifacts.
It has four bedrooms. Three of the bedrooms have queen size beds. The living room has a hide-a-bed couch that makes into a queen size bed. The fourth room has a trundle bed with two twin size beds.
There is a full bathroom between the Jack and Jill bedrooms. The master bedroom has its own bathroom with two sinks, a walkout shower and a large master closet. There is an additional half bath located close to the living area.
The kitchen is spacious and is next to the dining room that seats 6 people. There is a bar that seats 4 additional people.
There is a patio that goes the full length of the house. The dining area, living room and master suite all have French doors to access the patio. The outdoor area has a picnic table, fire pit, barbeque, chairs and a chaise lounge to enjoy the beautiful views.
There is a long front porch that is adorned with an 8' church pew and a sunken garden. Enjoy your morning coffee or your evening wine on the private patios with beautiful mountain views and spectular starry nights.
The rates are $195.00 for 6 or less people. The limit is 8 people with an additinal fee of $25 per night per person for the additional people. There is a non-refundable "Pet Fee" of $100.00 for one dog and $50.00 for each additional dog. No cats are allowed.
John and I chose to move to Utah because of the beautiful red rocks and the mountains. We moved from California. We both enjoy the outdoors and Zion National Park. We live next door to our vacation home so we are readily available to answer any questions you may have. We respect your privacy and will not interfere.
Captain John Whitton purchased this house in 2009
Romantic Get Away; starry nights-gorgeous sunsets and sunrises, living room and master suite with fire place, massage upon request, large sauna with robes.
Pet Friendly; front yard enclosed, bare floors, $100
nonrefundable fee, $50 for each additional pet.
"Kids room" with T.V., D.V.D. player, kids books, and puzzels.
The benefits are that you are only a 35 minute drive to Zion for hiking etc. You are also in an ideal spot for biking with Gooseberry Mesa only a short distance away. There is also an outdoor live theater in a box canyon called Tuacahn. Many retail stores, restaurants etc near by in St. George.
What a lovely home for our southern Utah get-away! The house is beautifully decorated with many charming, artistic accents. It is clear that Kathryn and Captain John truly care about this home and want their visitors to feel comfortable. There were many thoughtful touches (ie. night lights, bathrobes, coffee and creamer, etc.) which made our stay feel more like visiting a friend's home than renting a place. There was plenty of room for our family of 5. We were so happy to have laundry after some muddy hikes in Zion and Bryce. Plus, there's nothing like the view from the back deck, which we enjoyed while sipping our morning coffee and while grilling our dinner. This home made our trip to this beautiful area especially enjoyable!
We just came back from our trip in Hurricane and rented this beautiful house with our teenager daughter. We all loved it. Lots to see and do in the area if you are an active family. The house is very well equipped, in the kitchen everything you need to cook, spices, tea, sugar, even zip locks to make sandwiches when going on hikes, bedrooms(house coats, plenty blankets if needed), outdoor(fire wood, games)... Everything you need to have a good time as a family.
The owners are amazing. They came every day to see if we needed anything, or share places we should visit... Captain John even drove us to see the dinosaure tracks near the house. We are already talking about going back.
Beautiful home that made our family vacation really special. Lovely desert setting and great southwestern motifs; we also really appreciate our pets could come too.
This home exceeded our expectations. You could not want for anything. Great location for visiting Zion National Park and many other locations in the area. Kathryn and John were so helpful with many recommendations of place to see and go in the area. The location and the quietness of unbelievable. Didn't realize how noisey our neighborhood was until we returned home. Plenty of room for all your family, friends or guests. Big plus it was dog-friendly. Our little guy loved walking outside and seeing the rabbits and roadrunners go bye. We loved the area so much we actually purchased a home while in Hurricane. We can't wait to sell our house and move. We definitely recommendation this place.
Very charming and comfortable accommodations. A large home that generously provides private sleeping for a family of 5. Decorated in a southwest decor bringing charm to our stay. A quiet, private area close to Zion and local hiking. A wonderful property for just hanging out or using it as a base from which to explore the area. The hosts are most accommodating.
This Hurricane adobe house was a terrific home away from home for my wife and I for a week, though it could have easily accommodated 8 or more. A beautiful oasis with breathtaking views, it was the perfect spot to use as a hub for our day trips exploring, and to unwind each evening. A large well-equipped kitchen had everything a chef would need. The beds were extremely comfortable. Bathrooms more than ample and conveniently located. Great quality towels and linens.
Katheryn and Captain John were engaging, available next door if/when needed, and the source of great information and recommendations. The back patio is a great place to eat breakfast or unwind with a glass of wine after a day of hiking.
The sofa bed in the living room was not all that comfortable to sit on (time to replace ??), and I wish there were a wider array of cable tv channels available than just the minimal base package. Internet service was great. Wish we could have stayed another week or two, as we barely made a dent in what is available to see within 2 1/2 hours. Next time I will bring my golf clubs because there are some high quality golf courses nearby. Overall, this place was a gem. Thank you John and Katheryn.
very private exclusive scenic. entertainment for all ages. peace and quiet
