We loved the resort, but didn't like this particular unit. It was very dated, the furniture needs to be replaced, but it was very clean. The staff is very nice and professional. We will be staying again very soon.
We had a great time at Powhatan. The complex was great—a $10 activity fee (per day) covered us for racquetball, swimming, mini-golf, etc. We rented a 2-bedroom condo with a full kitchen, dining room, and balcony. The grounds were well-maintained, the restaurant was great, and the location couldn't be beaten. We'll be returning—it's a great place for a family vacation.
We stayed Friday and Saturday night so we could go to Busch Gardens. Much nicer and larger than any hotel we could have booked for about the same price. We had an upstairs 2BR unit that had two baths too. We didn't get to take in all the resort has to offer but will plan on coming back and doing that. Other than the "Diamond International Resorts" people trying to get you to attend a sales meeting (promising all kinds of goodies) the stay was good. I did not go to the meeting (I told them we weren't interested - it wasn't "too" hard-sell) and all was good.
The grounds are absolutely gorgeous and very well maintained. Check in staff are very pleasant - then you are directed to the concierge desk. Once there you are informed that you have been scheduled for a meeting the following day - basically a sales pitch. We declined and then were asked why - well #1 we are on vacation with our family - for family time/response: bring the children (2) 15 year olds and a 13 year old - yeah right. #2 I am in meetings everyday and came to get away from that/response: It really doesn't last long - we finally just walked away from the desk. The unit was OK - needs to be updated and it did appear that they were remodeling some of the other units. Last day there - when we returned to the unit - there was a message to call about check out procedures - which we did - NOT - just another attempt to get in the sales pitch. I was beyond irritated at this point and glad we were leaving the following morning. We go on vacation for a reason and it is to get away from scheduled events and meetings. Probably will never stay here again!!
Management needs to seriously think about updating the sleep sofa beds. The one in our unit was horrible. Very thin and well worn out. Everything else was fine.
I love this resort!! Clean, beautiful and relaxing.. Just wish there was a time cap on the pool and jacuzzi area for the children.. Couldn't relax there, was over ran with children every where including the jacuzzi after 9pm.. Was so disappointed but still love the resort and grounds.. Can't wait to return!
