A spacious 155 sq. m 3 bedroom apartment with two bathrooms.

A beautiful and bright 3 bedroom 155 sq. metres basement apartment with accomodation for 6 guests. The apartment is in a beautiful, historic house located right in the centre of town. It was fully renovated in 2005 in a beautifully blended classic and modern style by the owner and his daughter who are both architects. The kitchen is fully equipped with a stove, oven, microwave, dishwasher, etc. Two of the bedrooms have double beds (queen size) and one has two single beds. A baby cot is available in the apartment and can easily fit into either of the two larger bedrooms. There is also a studio couch in the TV-lounge. The main bathroom has a shower / bathtub, wc and wash basin. The second bathroom has a shower, wc, wash basin and a washing machine. Both bathrooms are provided with a hair dryer. Two bathtowels are provided for each guest. There’s a wireless internet connection in the apartment and a TV in the TV-lounge. The TV has a built in DVD player. A storage room is provided for your suitcases. There is a clothes dryer in the store room. In front of the apartment there is a small patio with a table and chairs in the summertime. There are two bicycles available for guests.

About Pall V. Bjarnaon

I am a self employed architect in Reykjavik and my wife, Sigga, is an editor with the University of Iceland press. We like to travel around the world and our country. We have stayed in rented apartments in Europe and think this is a brilliant way of travelling. It opens another dimension in travelling. We have three daughters and eight grandchildren. I would describe us as sociable people who like to meet other people. I am very fond of classical music and attend concerts of the Icelandic symphony orchestra on a regular basis.

Why Pall V. Bjarnaon chose Reykjavik

I am a restoration architect and we bought this house literally in ruins and restored it. You could see it was a beautiful house with a great location right in the center. Everything is within reach for us the owners as well as for people who stay in the apartment.

What makes this apartment unique

The house was built in 1918 in a traditional decorative neo-baroc style and we have recently restored the basement apartment in the 1920s style, mixed with brand new design furniture and luxurious beds. The location is perfect for guests while staying in Reykjavik. You don´t need a car and if you need we have two extra bicycles for our guests. In front there is a small patio with a table and chairs exclusively for our guests in the summer.

Perfect location, wonderful home, fantastic all around experience!

We are a family of four (parents and twin girls, age 10) who LOVED Pall and Siggi's basement flat in this fantastic, historic home! The flat was exceptionally clean and well suited for our needs. The location in Reykjavik was perfect! A short walk to everything, we never got in a taxi once. Pall and Siggi were welcoming and helpful giving us tips and ideas for things to do in Iceland. Additionally, the kitchen was stocked with basics for cooking, which was a delight after a 14-hour excursion in the south of Iceland and we didn't have the energy to go out to dinner! The washing machine was perfect and used daily, so we didn't have to pack too much for our week long stay. The living room and TV room came in handy as well, we had plenty of space to relax after our long, fun days exploring.

We've stayed in over a dozen home rentals over the past few years and have pretty high standards, and we can say, without a doubt, this was our BEST place yet! I would HIGHLY recommend staying here on your next trip to Iceland!

Couldn't be better!!

Wonderful apartment- spacious, comfortable, well equipped.

Very nice and helpful hosts. The basics were in the kitchen when we arrived which saved us a trip to the grocery store our first night ( coffee, milk, bread, juice).

The location is close to everything in the center, so great for walking .

While there's only one shower, there are two toilets, which made it all work well for our party of four adults.

Fantastic place!!!!

Perfect location for exploring Reykjavik!

On a quiet residential street in the city center. A car is not necessary, except to visit sights outside the city (which you should definitely do!). We walked everywhere - to the grocery store, to dinner, to shopping, etc. If you do have a car, the on street parking is metered. But it is inexpensive and we never had trouble finding a spot after returning from our adventures. The owners were gracious hosts. All emails were promptly answered. We would stay here again.

Amazing apartment, well located

I had an amazing stay at this place when I stayed in Feb 2015 with some friends. Pall, the host, was very welcoming and friendly, and because we arrived on a late flight was kind enough to provide some food to tide us over. The apartment is as in the photos - the basement of a beautiful house in the very centre of Reykjavik, literally 3 minutes' walk from the main shopping street, bars, and from the central square and town hall, and only a little bit further to other attractions. Pall even provided a list of some recommendations for places to eat and drink; nothing disappointed us!

The apartment is large, very comfortable, newly decorated and clean, and warm (which is important when visiting in February like we did!). The bedrooms are very comfortable, and the kitchen well equipped for cooking meals, with some basic essentials (and coffee!) provided. There are washing and drying facilities and a store room for bikes . luggage etc. There's good Wifi and (should you need it) a separate TV room. The apartment is great for friends staying together, or I suppose also for families (there's a cot in the main bedroom).

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the apartment and in Reykjavik more generally. It's not often I go somewhere and itch to go back soon - I would not hesitate to recommend this apartment to my friends.

A beautiful and bright 3 bedroom apartment with accomodation for 8 people. The apartment is in a beautiful, historical house located right in the centre of town next to the central pond. Minutes walk to shops, restaurants, cafes, museums and art galleries and the old harbour. Tourist information offices and souvenier shops within miutes walk from the apartment.
