A spacious 155 sq. m 3 bedroom apartment with two bathrooms.

A beautiful and bright 3 bedroom 155 sq. metres basement apartment with accomodation for 6 guests. The apartment is in a beautiful, historic house located right in the centre of town. It was fully renovated in 2005 in a beautifully blended classic and modern style by the owner and his daughter who are both architects. The kitchen is fully equipped with a stove, oven, microwave, dishwasher, etc. Two of the bedrooms have double beds (queen size) and one has two single beds. A baby cot is available in the apartment and can easily fit into either of the two larger bedrooms. There is also a studio couch in the TV-lounge. The main bathroom has a shower in the bathtub, wc and wash basin. The second bathroom has a shower, wc, wash basin and a washing machine. Both bathrooms are provided with a hair dryer. Two bathtowels are provided for each guest. There’s a wireless internet connection in the apartment and a TV in the TV-lounge. The TV has a built in DVD player. A storage room is provided for your suitcases. There is a clothes dryer in the store room. In front of the apartment there is a small patio with a table and chairs in the summertime. There are two bicycles available for guests.

About Pall V. Bjarnaon

I am a self employed architect in Reykjavik and my wife, Sigga, is an editor with the University of Iceland press. We like to travel around the world and our country. We have stayed in rented apartments in Europe and think this is a brilliant way of travelling. It opens another dimension in travelling. We have three daughters and eight grandchildren. I would describe us as sociable people who like to meet other people. I am very fond of classical music and attend concerts of the Icelandic symphony orchestra on a regular basis.

Why Pall V. Bjarnaon chose Downtown

I am a restoration architect and we bought this house literally in ruins and restored it. You could see it was a beautiful house with a great location right in the center. Everything is within reach for us the owners as well as for people who stay in the apartment.

What makes this apartment unique

The house was built in 1918 in a traditional decorative neo-baroc style and we have recently restored the basement apartment in the 1920s style, mixed with brand new design furniture and luxurious beds. The location is perfect for guests while staying in Reykjavik. You don´t need a car and if you need we have two extra bicycles for our guests. In front there is a small patio with a table and chairs exclusively for our guests in the summer.

Stay here! We will again next time!

super great location in central Reykjavik, we walked all over the area to restaurants, shop, museums, everything. Tour pick up location is a 100 yards away at Bus Stop 2.

The owners are great with good suggestions if you have a question, the place is roomy with 3 bedrooms. they did a great job when they renovated the house and this apartment. We will stay here again. I loved the small touches like the the brochure they made with the history of the house. they made another brochure that detailed instructions on how to work everything and suggestions on what one might do in the the are for shopping, restaurants, museums, etc. very thorough.

Incredible apartment

Our family of 6 enjoyed 6 nights at the Historic House apartment. The space was perfect for us to spread out when we wanted to and to come together. The amenities are prefect, the location is close to downtown and bus stops for tours. We enjoyed our time here and when we come back to Iceland, we'll most certainly start with booking this unit.

This is a beautiful home that is perfectly located to the center of Reykjavik. Pall, the owner, is very attentive and full of helpful tips. There is plenty of room in the house for 6 people. It is well stocked and extremely clean!! We would definitely stay here again!!

I highly rec’d this home. Perfect location. Clean, organized and the owner was extremely helpful.

The house is quite unique (make sure to read about the history in the brochure provided). The three bedrooms were perfect; beds were very comfortable. We loved running along the lake (and on it since it was frozen). Restaurants and shops were within a five minute walk. We didn’t cook but the kitchen was well stocked and the owner even had coffee, milk, tea and bread for us - don’t know how normal that is but it was quite welcome. If we come back to Reykjavík we would definitely stay in this house. We were a family of four with two teenage daughters and having two showers worked perfectly for us - as did the living area. The living arrangements aren’t really in a basement as the windows allowed much light (and were very large). We can’t really think of anything negative to say as it was quite charming. Parking was never an issue for us - always available and the parking meter accepted coins and a credit card. The owner (Pall) was organized and lovely. Enjoy your stay!!!

Perfect home away from home

Absolutely loved staying here. Firstly, the apartment is really spacious so you don’t feel on top of one another. The location is great, short walk to restaurants, bars, coffee shops. Also it’s right by one of the tourist bus pick up points, so really quick to get on excursions. Would definitely stay here again!
