Project in Progress
We had a great time in Scottsdale over a 4 nite weekend. The casita is in a nice neighborhood and location. Though 15 minutes to Old Towne, we discovered the Musical Instrument Museum off of the Loop, near the Mayo Clinic. We spent 3 hours taking in the 2 floors of instruments from around the world and got a bite at the cafe. We had breakfast (twice) at Butterfields which was about 5 minutes from the Casita. It gets super busy on weekends. But I had a great Eggs Benedict (and I'm fussy). The Casita itself is large and has a full kitchen with new appliances. There is also a full bath which us closer to the front door than to the step down bedroom. This Casita is still being completed for rental. There were issues that still to be dealt with before future renting. These have been noted to the owner. Given that, my only major criticism is that the mattress needs replacement and because if the spanish tile flooring throughout, some strategically placed area rugs would help. Kind of hard on the feet. The is not from Scottsdale so we were lucky that we had a chance to meet him. He was very nice and a fellow musician (violinist) and working hard on this property.
Just big enough my and my dog. Toby loved the big yard. Great location near some our neighbors from
Great location. Owner was great. Someday we'll be back.
Beautiful fenced back yard for our dogs. Well located. Nice stay
Excellent value, location
Great spot for two people. Central to almost everything in the Scottsdale area. The Owner made it easy to get in and followed up which i thought was nice. We had a dog with us and the large fenced backyard was perfect for him to roam around. There
Comfortable with big backyard
Pictures are accurate for this 1-bedroom guest house. The main house is also a rental property, so this could be an ideal set-up for a larger friends gathering. I was in town for just 2 nights for a quick weekend--I brought my dog so liked that there was no carpet and a huge backyard (lots of cactus) for him to run around in. The pool was drained, didn't try to use the hot-tub. Inside it's 1 BR with a stacked w/d, living/dining room combo with small kitchen and small, outdated but workable, kitchen. The water (commented in a previous review) wasn't an issue at all; the AC had to be turned on rather than being automatic but worked well.
Cons: (1) The quality of the kitchen equipment/linens/towels isn't great, which I suppose is to be expected with a rental home...if you want to do fancy cooking plan on bringing your own equipment. (2) The house doesn't seem clean--clearly hasn't had a deep clean in a while, I had to sweep the floor when I walked in. That's the flip side of not having to pay a cleaning deposit I suppose, but it is kind of gross to rely on the previous renter to do the cleaning before you.
Pro: (1) I was impressed by the owner--he was out of the country and went above and beyond to make sure I got into the house on time despite his property manager being unavailable (I made my reservation late in the week). He was in immediate contact with me, followed up to make sure I was okay and was fairly prompt with the return of my deposit. Professional and gave me confidence. (2) The house was convenient to Scottsdale/other areas I needed to be over the weekend without being in the middle of everything. Pleasant neighborhood for walks with my dog.
