About Keith Cox
The picture is of me and my daughter after her successful certification dive in Cozumel last year. Our family lives in Philadelphia. We've traveled the world and find the culture and people of Cozumel to be so friendly and interesting that my wife and I were inspired to purchase this house as our eventual retirement residence. In the meantime, you can share our good fortune!
Keith Cox purchased this House in 2011
Why Keith Cox chose Colonia Independencia
Cozumel has world-class diving combined with really interesting culture (think Mayan, not northern Mexico) and a very cosmopolitan, international community. Good food, good times, good people.
What makes this House unique
We picked our house because its IN Mexico, not some isolated compound that tries to keep the local culture at bay. Additionally, the location is convenient to everything you need on a daily basis.

We'd stay again with a family! Lovely home, nice neighborhood, wonderful caretakers and owner!
This home was PERFECT for our 6 adults. A sweet welcome goodie basket was presented, as well as hand painted handicrafts. Equipped with most everything you could think of or need, the photos are very accurate. A/C units worked great, shutting off when out, as instructed no problem, they cooled quickly. All the things in the kitchen were great, did a lot of smoothies (so much great fruit!!), the kids made fajitas & lots of guac. Bathrooms are really nice, water jugs in each for brushing teeth/drinking was nice. Extra set of sheets for the beds, extra pillows, blankets, plenty of towels, face cloths, & a set of beach towels for each bedroom. Beds a little hard for us, but beds are very individual, so NOT a complaint. After long days of walking, swimming, snorkeling, we slept fine! Likely the TVs worked but had no time/inclination to use! The little dipping pool was nice, not heated but so refreshing after walking all day. Small garden yard was so tropical, complete with tiny geckos, occasional parrots and other birds. The entry with secure gate and area for drying items was convenient. Many extras available in the storage closet :little foam cooler, some snorkel gear, & other sundries we didn't use but so nice they were provided. Washer & dryer a nice extra too, took a long time to fill up washer but sometimes water pressure in Mexico is iffy so we didn't mind. The neighborhood is so nice, lots of convenient places to eat(a MUST: Benito's for breakfast!) and shop, and a sports complex the kids went running at most mornings. All the "things" regarding Casa Loro were great, but we felt the sweetest asset was Manuel & Deymi the caretakers. They were so welcoming, kind, and helpful to us through our stay of 10 days. They checked on us, were there for us when we needed assistance, just in general made us feel comfortable and right at home. Tried not to be too needy, but there was one toilet that developed a little leak and Manuel was over in minutes, it was taken care of by the time we came back from our days outing. Kids needed pesos and Manuel took him to a reputable bank several blocks away. Day of departure our prearranged taxi did not show, dear Manuel was at the house for checkout, offered to rescue us & took us to the ferry dock. LOL, He's busy, he's working on his PHD! They, as the Mexican people in general, were the true gems of our trip. Keith: you have a treasure in those two! Thank you so much for your hospitality & sharing your home !!!
Thank you Jnana for your nice comments. Jena and I share your favorable views of Manuel and Deymi. Not just good caretakers, but genuine friends as well. Glad all was good with your stay. Hope you'll be back sometime in the future!
My family of five along with two of my daughter's friends rented this home for five nights as a graduation present. The home is immaculate and the pictures are on point. Communication was easy not only with the owner but the property managers (Manuel and Deymi) as well. They met us for check in and check out. They stayed in touch our entire stay to answer questions and sent us helpful tid bits throughout (we didn't realize our departure was the same day as Ironman which means a ton of closed streets and businesses so the heads up was crucial to getting off the island). The home is in a great part of town away from the cruisers and within walking distance to both grocery stores and many businesses. We ate like the locals and occasionally splurged like a tourist! Taxis were easy to flag down less than two blocks away. The house is stocked very well with pantry items, cooking utensils, etc. We made good use of the juicer and blender! The beds were comfy and we had ample storage for our belongings. We always felt safe. The kids used the pool a few times to cool down and enjoyed a refreshing dip in the afternoons. The fans and A/C work great. We had hot water for showers, though not all of us used it as the cold water is room temperature and felt delightful. There was more drinking water than we could have ever drank provided. The washer/dryer was a bonus as well. Beach towels were provided. All in all it was a great stay and we are already planning our next stay at Casa Loro! Manuel and Deymi, the property managers are multilingual and amazing hosts. We didn't want to stop talking with them because they are well traveled and a wealth of knowledge here on the island and further abroad. We hope to see you all in the very near future!
Hi Melissa! So glad that you and your family had a pleasant satay in Cozumel. I'm glad Casa Loro could contribute to the enjoyment . . . Come again soon!

On a vraiment apprécié!
Quatre personnes.
Amicalement, Manuel & Deymi
Vacation in Cozumel
First time I rented a house in Cozumel. Done the all inclusive, stayed with friends, and they are all good. This was a bit special because we were in a regular neighborhood with the people of Cozumel. The house was well represented by the pictures. No real surprises and a couple of small issues but nothing to make us think twice about doing this again. Beautiful house, well maintained by Manuel and Deimy, and very clean. Air conditioning worked very well which was good since weather was in the mid eighties. Any vacation is what you make it and with a group of wonderful friends staying together it made this visit extra special. We only used the pool in back once, but it was cool and refreshing. Location a bit further from the main drag than I originally thought but again not a big deal. All plumbing worked well and as one would expect not tremendous water pressure but then most all inclusives leave a little bit to desire that way. Kitchen was well appointed, with just about everything one would need to cook. All in all a great house in a great place and I would do this again in a heartbeat.
Glad you enjoyed your stay, James! Hope you return soon.
Amazing place, perfect for a family!
The house was exactly like the pictures. Everything was perfect. The beds where confortable, the kitchen well equipped. The location is closed to the centre, in a friendly neighbourhood. We rented a car, which came more economic than taking taxis all the time. Manue was great and helpful. Gave us useful information and was there when we needed him.
Our stay at Cozumel was great, thanks to casa Loro. Our « coup de cœur » La bendicion restaurant, close to the centre Plaza.
We're so pleased that you enjoyed your stay in Cozumel and that Casa Loro was comfortable for you and your family. We'd be happy to welcome you back next time.
Absolutely amazing stay
Everything about this house is wonderful, clean, well maintained, convenient location and best of all Keith and Manual are very responsive and informative. My cousins and I stayed seven days here (should of stayed a month) and do not regret a single moment!
We're so pleased that you and your group had a pleasant stay in Cozumel and we are happy that Casa Loro lived up to your expectations. Hope you come back soon!
