The bathroom has been fully renovated. The home has been refurbished but maintains its old Florida charm including Dade County pine flooring. There are large oak trees and a mango tree that likely predate the 1925 home. Parking is plentiful with two driveways and additional on street parking. Sidewalks and crosswalks extend from the home to just about anywhere you'd like to travel in downtown Stuart.
This home was purchased in 2014 by real estate investors. Both partners fell in love with the home and the location. Instead of 'flipping' the property, the investors decided to renovate the home and keep it for personal use and occasionaly a tenant.
Steve Allison purchased this cottage in 2014
Location and charm.
The property owner and manager lives and works within a few miles. He's happy to share tips on the best restaurants, beaches, and activities.
This 762 ft square cottage was a very pleasant surprise to us. This open concept rental appears a lot larger than the square footage. Comfortable furnishings and tasteful decorating makes this an appealing rental. The updated bathroom is lovely. A surprise to us was another building with a second bedroom, which we did not use.
Excellent customer service....The property owner, Steve was always assesible and if you needed anything, he made it available very quickly. He receives a five star plus!!!
The rental is a five minute walk from downtown Stuart, which is great and a ten minute drive to the beach is easy. There are many choices for dining, music and a beautiful and well maintained boardwalk, which winds itself around the town, close to the Khatib bridge center and numerous golf courses. Our favorite restaurant is Oceola's.
The neighbors are friendly and welcoming.
We will be renting again next year for two months. So yes, we would recommend this property to friends and relatives.
I didn't realize how close and convenient the location was to downtown Stuart. Everything was wonderful and easily accessible.
The cottage has recently been renovated but the original pine floors have been perfectly restored and add a level of authenticity.
Perfect for two or three people with the rollaway. They have furnished about everything you could want to have a nice relaxing vacation. New wall mounted TV (but you're in Florida so go out and enjoy!) and a large bed in the bedroom. The space was very open and enjoyable. Would absolutely return, it's nice not to always stay in a hotel!
i was looking for a charming house in Stuart within walking distance of the downtown for three people. This neighborhood of beautifully maintained old Florida houses with surrounding gardens is just on the edge of town, many of the houses have square mosaics of colorful tiles and glass set into the sidewalks in front of them.
When I contacted the owner he had only the couch to offer for our third guest but when I asked him if he could buy a rollaway bed he instantly complied and our third guest had a very comfortable place to sleep with wonderful high thread count sheets on the bed. The house has recently been renovated and professionally decorated and is very well appointed. I understand a washer and dryer are coming soon as well as bikes! We could not have been more comfortable for our four day stay and give very high marks to the owner for his willingness to make guests comfortable!
My friend, her daughter and I spent a very pleasant four day stay in Stuart and found this charming little cottage totally suitable for our visit. The house, though small, is well equipped, and has a nice open space feel, and is within easy walking distance of the downtown area with good restaurants and appealing shops and a theater that shows a constantly changing roster of performers. There is a lovely waterside Boardwalk along the Indian River. I would recommend this house for a couple or any three people, two of whom are willing to share a room.
We were the first official customers in this recently remodeled cottage. Don't be afraid of the sq. ft total ... the floor plan is wide open, giving a spacious feel. Kitchen, dining room, living room all connected ... outstanding original Dade County hardwood flooring throughout. The new double-door walk in shower is fantastic, as is the huge king bed. Internet and TV service weren't quite ready yet but coming soon. Large antique desk available for computer use etc. Owner has purchased and mounted a Samsung 40" LED HD Smart TV on the wall and I believe there will soon be a DVD and maybe Blu-Ray player available. We didn't stay inside long enough to miss these items but they will be good for anyone considering a longer stay. The location is perfect: walking distance to old historic downtown shops and events along the river. A short drive to the north or south gets you to Port St. Lucie, Jupiter, Hutchinson Island, Fort Pierce, and other places of interest. Just blocks away is US 1 highway, which provides many shopping and dining options within 2 or 3 miles to the north or south. Owner was very easy to work with and readily available for questions if needed. He was also helpful with tourist attraction suggestions in the area. The cottage helped make our visit from the much colder climate of central Indiana a huge success.
Historic Downtown Stuart is home to over 50 locally owned shops, restaurants, boutiques, antique shops and art galleries...all in a charming old Florida atmosphere. Enjoy a walk along the river or drive 6 miles to enjoy the public beaches. Live music fills the air at many local restaurants and bars. Walk or rent a bike or scooter and take a tour of all that Stuart has to offer. Sunday green market is a year round event within walking distance. Catch a show at the Lyric Theater or enjoy a free concert at the Riverwalk Stage when in season.
