Beautiful beach-front getaway

  • 5 of 5

We had a great fall weekend getaway here. The house was perfect for relaxing and enjoying the water view, and it was easy to buy some fresh seafood and of course a bottle of wine nearby for a homecooked dinner. The enclosed porch in the back is the perfect place to enjoy a cup of tea in the morning looking out at the waves, and the couch and chairs inside are incredibly comfortable for curling up with a book. The house is well-kept and tastefully decorated. Highly recommended!

Amazing views, tasteful renovations, comfortable and relaxing setting

  • 5 of 5

Group of three visiting in early spring, coming for a quick get away from Manhattan. We were first impressed by how accessible the North Fork was (less than two hours drive from LGA, where we rented a car). On the way in, picked up some firewood for the fireplace and fire pit and stopped at a few wineries, all within a few minutes of the house.

Well equipped kitchen - we cooked/grilled an elaborate meal and found all of the tools we needed (bring your own charcoal).

Plenty of open public space with seating - kitchen, living, dining areas and deck. Everything was very clean and the furnishings seemed fairly new. The house is renovated, modern and comfortable with many original architectural elements and the cottage character preserved.

There is a new Greenport Harbor brewery tasting outpost/food truck hang-out less than 5 minutes drive down the road and Greenport itself is a close with tons to do.

Best part of the trip was taking our drinks for a walk out across the dune to the beach and watching the sun set over the Long Island Sound. Great views from the deck and North side of the house as well - can't beat the location.

Responsive owners provided specific info ahead of time so that our trip was seamless.

Better than photos due justice

  • 5 of 5

We have used several VRBO properties over the years. Most time the properties are as described and as seen in photos. Every once in a while though, WOW! We walk through the doors and are blown away! This house was a WOW! Attention to detail in each room through furnishings and photo art work made for a peaceful and comfortable stay. The location is unbeatable, on LI Sound near wineries, farm stands and wonderful restaurants. We will certainly book again!

Ideal stay

  • 5 of 5

We rented the cottage for a week the end of August and had a wonderful stay. It was situated near a nature preserve and had a private beach right on the sound. The location was ideal and a short drive from the wineries, farms, beer brewery, as well as Orient and Greenport. The sunsets were amazing! The cottage was spacious and there was attention to detail with beach towels, umbrellas, bicycles, coal grill, and a well stocked-kitchen. The decor was tasteful, clean, and modern. Our stay could not have been better. We will certainly return next year!

Lovely Cottage on the Sound

  • 5 of 5

We rented the cottage for a week and a day in early July. Everything was as listed on the VRBO page. The location off a semi-private Sound beach just minutes away from tennis, dining, wineries, the goat farm, farm sstands etc is perfect. Sitting on the deck at sunset became our favorite thing to do. If we went out for dinner we made sure to be back on time. The decor is lovely with lots of amenities. We like to grill and cook on vacation and the well-stocked kitchen had most everything we needed. We have owned and rented on the NF for years. This is one of the nicest places we have rented.

What's not to love?

  • 5 of 5

I knew this was the place for us when I first saw it... I booked it three months in advance and every day I found myself looking at the pictures and dreaming of being here. First of all, I must say that the communication with the owners is excellent... They get back to you quickly and with kindness. The decor is lovely, beachy, and relaxing. Comfy beach chairs and towels are provided as well as other amenities. The air conditioning works great on those hot days, but most of the time we opened the windows and let the breezes blow in! I know others said they went out to dinner every night, but we wanted to enjoy every second at the beach, so we cooked dinner every night with no issue. The inlet is really just a few steps away and we went tubing (bring your own, you will be glad you did!). At low tide you can walk to the middle of the inlet and it won't even be up to your knees! So cool! Then the tide comes in and the fun begins! Walking the beach in either direction is awesome at any time of the day (we preferred early in the morning) with plenty of shells to collect and even some beach glass for the scavenger in you! We had a firepit every night ... Heavenly! And the Fourth of July had some pretty amazing fire works on the beach. We already told the owners we are booking next year for the 4th of July! Sunsets can't be beat here... We totally enjoyed our stay and can't wait to come back. Thank you Jim and Liz for the best time 😉
