Ouray House Rental Photos and Description

House, 3 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 8-11)

This mountain home is located on a corner lot in a private neighborhood 2 miles north of Ouray. There is a secluded patio with outdoor fire pit, shaded by Pine tress. The patio takes up much of the small back yard, but there is plenty of room in the front for kids to play! Over-sized attached 2 car garage. The original owners of this house built a small log cabin style house. A few years later they enlarged it by adding a large living room with an loft bedroom above it and a large 2 car garage with laundry and entryway. When we purchased this house in 2006, we renovated it from top to bottom, replacing the lovely 80's carpeting with wood flooring, a new kitchen and bath downstairs and a new enlarged bath upstairs, with a skylight in the large shower, allowing for a great view of the surrounding pines while showering.

When renovating, we turned the open loft bedroom over the living room into a semi-closed off bedroom by building a full height wall with double closets. There is still open space between the living room and the master bedroom, so there may be some noise that carries over. Living there, my husband and I had no problems, but if you have a large group, your experience may be different.

There is one bedroom downstairs with a full bath. Upstairs there are 2 large bedrooms, one with 2 queen beds, one with a king bed, and a large bathroom with double sinks and view shower. The living room has pullout sofa bed.

Quiet, yet close to town. Hiking trails within walking distance. An abundance of wildlife is visible regularly, birds, small animals, deer, elk, even bears!!

Keywords: mountain home, quiet, shaded, upgraded, cathedral ceilings, 2 fireplaces, close to town,

About Vicki Rooker

We are retired paramedics from San Francisco, resettled in the mountains to get away from the everyday hustle and bustle of city living. We had visited Ouray several times prior to our move and although the lifestyle change was 180 degrees, we have really enjoyed the quiet and slower pace of our mountains.

Vicki Rooker purchased this house in 2006

What makes this house unique

Master bedroom skylights allow views of the moon & stars as we fell asleep to the quiet with only water sounds from Corbett Creek to lull us to sleep or the occasional soft 'whump' of snow cascading off of the pine boughs in winter.

Wonderful Stay

  • 5 of 5

This was our first time visiting Ouray, CO and this home was the perfect place for our family vacation.

What a beautiful home! It had everything we needed. It was very clean and in a great location in a quiet neighborhood.

We enjoyed the back yard fire pit and our morning walks with the gorgeous views.

We chose this home because it was pet-friendly. My daughter and son-in-law have a wonderful 10 year old dog, Rico, who is part of our family and joined us on our vacation. He loved the house and made himself right at home.

Vicki was very nice to work with and even though she was out of town during our stay, she kept in touch to make sure everything was okay.

We rented jeeps for the day and traveled through the San Juan mountain range. It was the highlight of our trip and I would definitely recommend Colorado West Jeep Rental. Judy was very nice to work with and the jeeps were great. We had a blast driving through the beautiful mountains where the views are spectacular. A definite must do if you visit Ouray.

We stayed at Whispering Pines for five days. We found the rental to be well stocked (kitchen, bathrooms) and centrally located for many outdoor activities. My grandkids found many wilderness trails to explore and we found activities for senior citizens. All in all with the comfortable home to come back to every evening, it was a gr eat vacation.

quiet location and a beautiful home

  • 5 of 5

We just came home 2 days ago from staying in this Whispering Pines home. We found this home to be very spacious and lovely. It was supplied with everything we needed to get started out on the right foot. Everything from paper towels, tissue paper ,laundry soap, spices and much more. Having a washer and dryer was a big plus, it allowed us to pack much lighter knowing we could wash. Having a dishwasher and a very nice cook stove was great too. There were several of and we never ran out of hot water taking showers or doing laundry. There was room to park our long trailers carrying our UTV's. We really enjoyed the outdoor chairs and tables. We truly enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommended this home to others. Thank you so much. The Demoret Family

We just stayed here and I have to say we were overly impressed. Vicki was readily available any time of day to answer questions and was great to work with. Everything that I thought should be updated from looking at the pictures on here was already done. There is a new high quality stainless stove in the kitchen and a flat screen tv in the living room. The projection tv that's shown in the photos is gone. We were a group of 9 and we had plenty of space. The house is very well stocked with anything you would need. I've rented several vacation homes and this home was definitely one of my favorites. You couldn't ask for a better rental or owner to deal with! This property will not disappoint!!

We really enjoyed our stay on Whispering Pines. The house was spacious, very comfortable and well kept in a quiet mountain neighborhood. The owner was quick to respond with any question we had. Definitely a "repeater."

We have stayed in this same house 4 years in a row. It is comfortable, well furnished and spacious. Quiet neighborhood with lots of privacy. The owners invested in new appliances and maintain the property well.
