Amazing location - just a 5 minute walk to the North End or Quincy Market. Quality of the boat was better than we expected. Spotlessly clean, extra towels and pillows and high quality bed linens. Boat is actually at the end of the dock so has an uninterrupted view of the harbor. Our son loved the sleeping cubbies! Only suggestion is some kind of umbrella or bimini for the deck as there is no shade and as it was a 90 degree weekend, we had to wait until nightfall to sit up top.
Pleasantly surprised with this houseboat. The location is absolutely amazing. It's right by everything you want...aquarium, quincy market, mike's pastries and so much more, all while having views of the yachts coming and going and the breathtaking sunsets. We parked our car in the lot next to the harbor and didn't move it until we left. We had 7 people stay on the boat, including 4 children, and it accommodated our family perfectly. We were so happy with our stay, we will definitely come and stay here again when we come back to Boston.
We were having difficulty hotel rooms at an acceptable price in a location that would be central to all the touristy things we hoped to accomplish. All the other VRBO rentals were apartments in the city with 1bathroom and we had 7 people (4 adults, 3 kids). This allowed us the room we needed, we could park the car and used the trolleys and subway to get to everything. My kids thought it was phenomenal (sleep cubbies), my parents thought the master accommodations were amazing and they had limited climbing to do for the 2nd floor living area. There was a central place to hang out downstairs as well as the rooftop deck. The boat became part of the vacation most talked about because we it was so unique. Definitely an experience we would do it again in a heartbeat and will continue to look for other sleep afloat opportunities when we travel. This boat worked best of all for us because we had 7 and there was even room left over!
The boat is located in Boston's North End, and you can easily walk to pretty much anything you would need. There's a Starbucks about a 2-minute walk from the boat, and Anthony's is a great breakfast/brunch place just across the street from the Starbucks. I stayed here with 10 girls for a weekend, and the boat had plenty of room for everyone to sleep and sit. Everyone else staying on the same dock was so nice, and David (who was my contact for the boat) was very friendly and always answered his phone and was happy to answer my many questions. I would absolutely stay in this boat again, and I hope it's not too long until I can return for another stay!
Wonderful accommodation for our family - Very clean, and an easy walk to everything we wanted to do in the city. I will definitely be back to this hidden gem.
This was the most unique, family-friendly rental experience we have ever had traveling to Boston. It was the kickoff weekend to our summer vacation and my parents' anniversary. The houseboat had everything we needed (including comfy beds, fluffy towels, extra pillows, hair dryer, nightlight) and plenty of space for all of us. The location was incomparable: in close walking distance of restaurants, Quincy Market, North End, the Aquarium, a playground, the Rose Kennedy Rose Garden. And truly, there is absolutely no comparison to waking up and having coffee at sunrise on the roofdeck. David was available to help out with getting us settled in, and when the cleaning crew found my iPad after we left, he was right on top of it. I cannot say enough good things about this property; we already cannot wait to come back.
The photos don't do this houseboat justice! When my friend booked it for our girls trip I wasn't so keen on the idea of staying on a houseboat but was pleasantly surprised by the White Elephant.
The outside of the boat looks kind of like a floating box but the character inside makes up for it. Once inside you forget you're even on the water. It's very spacious and our entire group of 8 had plenty of room to spread out.
We spent most of our time hanging on the roof deck which had a great view of Boston Harbor.
The only thing I would suggest others to note is that the steps to the second floor are a bit steep. It might be hard for someone that has difficulty climbing stairs to get to the second floor bedrooms and roof deck.
Other than that it was a fantastic rental and I'd highly recommend it to anyone!
