Our stay on the Delphinus Houseboat was unusual, enjoyable and memorable! As we expected, the space is compact and functional. Our adult daughter opted for the couch, rather than the tiny sleeping loft, which she would have adored as a child. The bathroom was functional, the kitchen was well equipped, and we enjoyed our morning breakfasts on deck. Does the boat rock? Yes, it does, gently most of the time, it was like sleeping in a waterbed, which my husband had back in the day. When other boats puttered by, the boat did rock more, but it was thrilling, reminding us that we were at sea. Communication with the host was excellent. Our check-in was smooth sailing! Donovan even helped us figure out how to use the DVD player and the coffee maker. The location was fantastic! We loved being so close to the harbor, and near to Fells Point restaurants. What was the best part? Telling everyone at the family party we were attending that we were staying on a houseboat. A great conversation starter!
Our group had an enjoyable stay. Great location, houseboat has nice features, quality management.
When we arrived, our contact person was right there waiting for us. He showed us the features of the houseboat. Very helpful and told us he was on call 24/7 should there be any issues. (There were none.)
The houseboat was exactly as described...but better than we expected. The loft sleeping area would be great for kids. Ladder access. AC's worked great.
We enjoyed the atmosphere in the marina. Most boats were live aboard. The locals all knew each other and were friendly with us "short timers".
Access to the site was easy, with plenty of parking. Grocery store near. Great location to explore the Inner Harbor. The "water taxi" landing is about 100 feet from the boat. We ate at Captain James both nights and totally enjoyed. We ate at the bar...so there was no wait!
We would totally do this rental again.
Home away from home! The two of us stayed on the Delphinus which could have easily slept 6. Extremely clean with all the amenities of home.
Felt very safe and Metro was only a block away. Donavon, our contact, was great. He even brought us a case of water when he found out we hadn't rented a car!
Overall a 5* experience!
We had such a great time on this houseboat! It is such a unique way to stay in Baltimore. The location in Fells Point is great. There is a water taxi right next door that you can take to the Inner Harbor in minutes or you can walk in about 15 mins like we did most days.
We were in town for a work event and this rental really made us forget that once we were home. The best part was hanging out on the front deck at night. It was really peaceful and the neighbors were very friendly.
We had a wonderful time in Baltimore and staying on a houseboat added to the adventures. There were 4 adults and 2 college students (adults too) in our group. Each of us had beds and there was room to hang out together in the evening. One thing I did not expect was the rocking of the boat throughout the evening. It wasn't a problem, and was soothing as we laid down to sleep. I was worried that we'd be cold but the boat heated up nicely. Donovan, the caretaker, met us when we arrived and had the boat warm and inviting. He was helpful giving up tips for the boat and downtown area. The location is ideal. We walked downtown in minutes and had a plethora of restaurants, shops, and coffee houses to choose from. We ate dinner at an Ethiopian restaurant downtown that was marvelous. Others staying on houseboats (visitors like us and locals that live there) were very friendly. The only downside was the mattress for the pull out couch. It was awful and made sleeping very difficult and uncomfortable. There was a blow up mattress available but it was a single not a double. The mattress in the state room was exceptional! So much so that our friends plan to buy one for themselves. I would recommend this house boat and the company to others, in fact, I already have. It was very affordable, comfortable, warm, in a great location (parking was abundant at the marina - thank you), and a different experience for a weekend visit.
