The first thing you see when you walk through the door is the beautiful patio with swimming pool and the stunning Caribbean ocean just beyond! The house is spacious, the kitchen has updated appliances and every pot, pan and utensil you can think of available. The rooms are nicely decorated (love the island paintings!) and everything is clean, comfortable and in excellent condition! The location is perfect for providing privacy and within walking distance of Starfish Point, Kaibo Beach Club and Rum Point. We all loved our stay and would enjoy coming back! We rented a crib from Empty Suitcases, ordered groceries to be delivered from Cayman Shoppers and Judy Ebanks did an excellent job of coordinating everything for us.
Nice pool that the entire family (ages 6 mo. to 67) really enjoyed every day.
BEACH: a line of tree roots and a lot of shells on the beach made it hard for young kids to walk on; the adults had no real problem with it. There is grass growing in the water pretty close to shoreline, which the kids were reluctant to play in.
HOUSE: Overall, the house was fine. Had a bit of an issue with temperature control, as thermostats and return air ducts were located in individual bedrooms, so when those doors were closed it affected the temp in other rooms. The three most used doors had problems. The front door and kitchen sliding door both stuck and the door to the pool always slammed loudly. This was minor at first, but became annoying after a few days. The kitchen was well accessorized. We used and appreciated the two kayaks and the SUP, and the Pac n Play. Nice grounds.
LOCATION: located at the end of a dead end street, so no traffic to speak of. Public beach right across the street which provided calm water whenever the wind was from our side of the peninsula, a plus. Walking distance to Kaibo Beach resort, which has a very protected cove and beach as well as espresso and croissants in the morning and nice meals and drinks on the beach at lunch and dinner. Good music some evenings. Rum Point is a 5 minute drive and a great place to hang out, with water toys, beach bars, many tables and beach loungers, snorkeling and swimming, and boats to Sting Ray City. Red Sail Watersports provides just about any water activity. The big thing to consider is that this area is a 45 minute drive to town and the good grocery stores, etc. This is either an advantage or a disadvantage, depending on your preference for town/shopping.
I hope I can find the words to describe how wonderful our vacation was at Kai Conut. We were a family of nine - Grandpop and Grandmom , three adult children, and 4 grandchildren, ages 14, 8, 5, and 22 months. First of all, the house was absolutely perfect for our family - large enough for us all to spread out, yet cozy enough to really have together-time. Everything we needed and more was provided - plenty of towels, kayaks, paddleboard, snorkel equipment (although we had our own), sand and pool toys, and a VERY well equipped kitchen. The home and location on a sandy beach were both perfect for small children. The best part was that we were walking distance to Kaibo Beach Bar which we frequented often. Good food and a fun atmosphere. Rum Point is very close, but too long of a walk for the little ones. We did spend a day visiting Seven Mile Beach. When we got back to Kai Conut, we all commented that we were so happy that we were on the north side of the island where everything was more private, quiet and tranquil. I would highly recommend Kai Conut for a fantastic vacation!. The grandkids can't wait to go back, and our daughter posted on FB, "Quite possibly the best vacation ever" and she has traveled extensively. If you go to GC, I highly recommend Nick's Private Charters for a wonderful morning or afternoon snorkeling and visiting Stingray City. Nick and Noel was so accommodating and made sure we were all having a great time which we surely did. A visit to Cayman Turtle Farm was fun for the kids. Great home in a super location on a beautiful island! You'll love it!
This was absolutely wonderful and a lovely home and area to celebrate an 80th birthday. All 11 of our family were so comfortable whether we were in the outdoor porch, the dining room, living room (sofa will accommodate 7 adults and 4 children!) or in the pool. Not the place to go if you want busyness, shops, etc., but rather quiet and privacy. Kitchen had everything we needed and more. And the sunsets at Starfish Point - not to be missed!! Hope to return sometime.
Our family thoroughly enjoyed our week at Kai Conut. The house was beautiful, equipped with everything we needed for the week, and the location was spectacular. Since we were in a remote area, we especially appreciated the use of the kayak, paddle board, and sand toys for the kids. Also, the communication from the manager before and during our vacation was very helpful and appreciated.
We have finally unwound from a most pleasurable week long vacation in Kai Conut. We were expecting a beautiful villa, a terrific pool, and a great ocean beach. In a word, we were overwhelmed! Kai Conut exceeded our greatest expectations. We enjoyed every minute of our stay. The adults as well as the teenagers (13 and 11) had their every wish fulfilled.
The villa was immaculate, and stocked far in excess of what we anticipated. In addition to what we expected in terms of appliances, technology, bedding, towels, kayaks, a boat, swim fins and pool toys, there were "tons" of spices in the cabinets, coffee and sugar, paper products, etc. etc. Anyone leasing this dwelling in the future should check the cabinets before grocery shopping (although it is a long trip to the nearest super market - Kai Conut is as far away from the hustle and bustle of Grand Cayman as one can get). The remote location was exactly what we were looking for. The proximity to Kaibo Marina (just a short walk - and they have a terrific barbecue on Tuesday), and Rum Point was just right - close enough for easy access, but far enough away to ensure our privacy. We did visit George Town, 7 Mile Beach, Hell, the Blue Iguana sanctuary, and shopped for the required T-shirts and mementos (Rum Point's supply and prices were as good as any on 7 Mile beach), but were very happy that our villa was in Cayman Kai and NOT near 7 Mile Beach. The bravest among used the villa supplied kayaks and kayaked to the stingrays, rented waveruners at Rum Point, and rowed the villa's aluminum boat to check out the luminescent plankton in Finger Cay. The more sedentary sat and enjoyed the breeze and pool at Kai Conut and kept cool.
We met the property manager, shortly after our arrival and were very impressed. It was obvious that she takes great care and pride of the villas in her charge.
Should you ever need a recommendation for either this villa or your company, I will be happy to provide it.
Thank you for a great vacation.
The entire island is only 22 miles wide from west to east; so you are never too far from anywhere on Grand Cayman. The homes on the sound front in Cayman Kai offer the best beaches as they don’t have as much marine and plant life trying to make a home in the shallows. The beaches usually are soft white sand. The homes facing west offer barefoot swimming and shallow calm water. The sunsets are also wonderful, but the big draw to this area is the proximity to the “Rum Point Club”; a public beach club that offers a fantastic barefoot beach…many watersports, a restaurant, bar, grill, gift shop and pick-up beach volleyball games. (www.rumpointclub.com)
It is from the Rum Point pier that the www.redsailcayman.com 65’ catamaran departs to stingray sandbar for snorkeling trips. Also near Rum Point is the Kaibo Yacht Club restaurant, bar and marina (www.kaibo.ky). Click the map on our homepage for exact locations. The homes facing south (Kai Rumba, Pools of the Kai, Kai Sound Studio) have great white sand beaches, but softer sea bottom. You will probably walk across the street to swim in sandier water) Lastly…about 20 minutes east we have (2) large resorts in the east end (www.morritts.com and www.thereef.com ) that offer manicured beaches as well as restaurants, a modern grocery store, liquor store, gift shops, SUBWAY sandwich shop (and even a coffee/pastry shop). These two resorts also offer scuba, snorkel trips, jet skis, windsurfers, kiteboarding, ocean front pools and bar service. www.tortugadivers.com and www.whitesandwatersports.com offer snorkeling tours, paddle boards, jet skis, etc.
