We work and play outdoors. We made Luray our home with the dream of sharing it with others. We consider ourselves on a permanent vacation.
Brooke and Nathan Downing purchased this cottage in 2013
Located in the Shenandoah Valley, surrounded by the Blue Ridge Mountains and accented by the Shenandoah River’s flowing banks, Luray offers an impressive selection of recreational opportunities, major attractions, cultural history, and nature preserves.
Set on the hill side it offers both a view of the sunrise and sunset, open night skies seated around a campfire, peaceful environment, surrounded by nature.
Truly Amazing. We were impressed from the moment we walked in the door. The cottage is a home away from home with everything you could possibly need. We reserved the cottage for a birthday weekend and enjoyed every minute of it. From baking the birthday cake in the truly "stocked" kitchen to relaxing in the amazing hot tub. The robes were a nice touch. It was great relaxing and watching the wildlife from the screened in porch. Nathan and Brooke were very responsive and ensured everything was set for our stay. We will definitely stay here again!
Our stay at the cottage couldn't have been better. This cozy and modern home was just what we needed for a few days outside of DC. As others have already noted in their reviews, Brooke and Nathan really have thought of everything that guests could could ever need or want. The well stocked kitchen had every appliance we needed. The fancy washer/dryer was easy to use and handy to have when we came back to the house with dirty hiking clothes. We enjoyed playing card games that were in the living room, working on one of several puzzles, and keeping warm outside in the hot tub. A quick 15-20 minute drive had us in George Washington National Forest for a serene hike through the woods. Unfortunately, Mother Nature conspired against us and it was quite cloudy, foggy, and a bit rainy so we didn't get to see the sunset either night. But that just gives us a reason to come back! Thank you for having us at your perfect retreat.
We had a great New Years stay at this property! The home is even more beautiful in person than in the photos. We enjoyed lots of outdoor time in the hot tub, by the firepit, and using the charcoal grill. Inside, we enjoyed watching many college bowl games in front of the gas fireplace. Brooke and Nathan were very hospitable and responsive to all of our questions. We would definitely stay here again.
What a perfect place to host a girls relaxing getaway weekend! The house was very beautifully decorated and kept very clean. The appliances were all new and is indeed fully stocked. The binders of how things work and where/what to do were very helpful. We checked out Kennedy Peak and Storybrook trail, which had awesome views. The dirt road to get to the house is doable, although If you have a vehicle with low under carriage might want to be more vigilant. Our biggest regret is that we weren't staying longer!
I had the most wonderful time at the Mountainview Meadow Cottage. I've never stayed at a rental house that was so well stocked and such care was given to the details. We were celebrating a birthday and the kitchen even had an electric mixer when we wanted to make the birthday cake frosting. The bathrobes were by far my favorite touch and we're key to great hot tubbing. The house is located in the most perfect location with so many outdoor activities possible. I hiked Gap Creek Trail and Kennedy Peak. A truly wonderful getaway.
Absolutely a pleasure staying at this cottage. From the moment you walk through the door, you are welcomed with all the comforts of home. So much attention to detail has been put into this beautiful getaway. From the decor, to the comfortable bedding, to the well stocked kitchen pantry, not to mention the wonderful appliances...you only need your suitcase and groceries. Outdoors is just as amazing as you sit on the covered porch enjoying your breakfast while watching and listening to the birds at the bird feeders that line the fence, or sitting under the pergola, Truly the place if you just want to getaway from your busy schedule and just relax in the peacefulness of the beauty that surrounds this property. I can only imagine how beautiful this property is during the spring time! Really enjoyed the stay! Thank you for sharing your cottage!
