We wanted a house that could accommodate two families of four each, both with two adults and two elementary school aged kids (8 total people). The house was absolutely perfect in that regard. The floor plan is smart, functional, collaborative yet allowed families space and separation when needed. We did choose to flip a coin for the more choice master bedroom. Externally, the house is a little tough to find as it's driveway entrance is hard to discern and tight, especially at night. The front yard was only used to grill, which worked out well. The back yard was amazing. Palms everywhere, a hammock, lounge chairs, well groomed sandy ground. The swing was not functional. We didn't use the pool as the weather never got hot enough, due to constant coolish breeze, but it looked great. The view out the back, under the covered patio, was top shelf and truly awe inspiring. The beach condition started off poorly with lots of washed up turtle grass and debris. We spent an hour raking all that away to reveal a nice 20 meter stretch of sandy playground. Would have been great to have that taken care of prior but no big deal. Water entry wasn't the best for kids with lots of broken coral, turtle grass, etc... One can't blame the house for that but keep it in mind. This isn't an area of 100 meters of white sand out into the surf. We rented kayaks which worked well for cruising around (at high tide). Snorkeling was very good with abundant sea life if one is comfortable out past the turtle grass, shallow sea fan barrier, small breakers, into deeper ocean-side (10-15 feet) water, roughly 200m straight out.
We noticed with the separate locked garage, there seemed to be a 2nd story apt which apparently had tenants. We didn't interact and only saw a car there at night.
The booking process was easy, informative and pain free. The on-island property manager, Roy, lives across the street and was friendly and helpful. The house was situated within easy, relaxed drive of Rum Point, East-Side, Crystal Caves, etc...
Our extended family of nine adults had a wonderful time for the nine days that we rented this beautiful beach house. RPC
Our family of seven comfortably enjoyed this well stocked, clean, thoughtfully appointed, and colorfully decorated Rum Point home.
The view from inside the house, under the gazebo, and the beach was spectacular.
Overall, this house and experience was relaxing in the way that it should be.
We had a few minor maintenance issues..nothing that was the fault of the owner, just things that arise when you own a home in the Caribbean.
The maintenance team resolved them immediately, effectively, and in a friendly manner.
Our stay was not disturbed at all.
We look forward to returning some day.
We had 9 adults and 2 children staying at the property, which provided more than enough room and privacy to accommodate all. The location, about 5 minutes from Rum Point is perfect - not too touristy, but close to a lot of amenities.
The beautiful beach and water is right out the back door, along with the private swimming pool.
The design of the house with a Great Room (Living Room, Dining Room, Kitchen and Sun Room), with 3 bedrooms off one side and 2 bedrooms with a sitting room on the other side made for great privacy, yet having a focal point for all to gather.
The furnishings and beds were very comfortable and clean with more than enough linens, towels and bedding.
The outside of the property was expansive, extremely well landscaped, with lots of furniture to accommodate all the guests.
It was a tropical paradise.
Also if needed the local property manager is located nearby and is available on any day to answer your questions, and any concerns you may have.
I would definitely recommend this property. It is a first class accommodation and well worth the cost.
This house is amazing! We were so comfortable. The beach was very nice. Beautiful blue green water! Totally enjoyed the snorkeling! It was such an adventure. Turtle Farm, Hell, shopping in Georgetown, snorkeling at Paradise, loved all the fresh fruit!. Driving on the opposite side was fun! And then we returned to our "home".So wonderful having my coffee outside in the morning and hearing the ocean. I would love to return to this very spot! I highly recommend this house. Definitely 5 stars!
This house was perfect for our group of 8, which included two kids (5, 7) and six adults, including grandparents. The house is casual, clean, well-appointed, quiet, and situated on a beach with very fine snorkeling right out front. The new covered sitting area near the back porch overlooks the ocean and captures the breeze around the clock - we spent many hours there too. The balance of common and private space is ideal in the house. The space is open and inviting. The kids loved the modest, yet clean pool and the outside shower was great for getting the salt off after time in the ocean. We rented kayaks and snorkel gear and ventured farther out off the beach and saw a great variety of sea creatures. We will definitely return to this house whenever we find ourselves on Grand Cayman again - which we hope will be soon!
The entire island is only 22 miles wide from west to east; so you are never too far from anywhere on Grand Cayman. The homes on the oceanfront in Rum Point offer great reef protected snorkeling. The beaches usually have plenty of white sand, but also can have spots of rocky “ironshore” with natural rock formations. The closer you get to Rum Point, usually the sandier the beach as well as swimming. Either way, with the abundant marine life we have in the water, you will want to wear foot protection (pool shoes or fins).
The prevailing breeze (trade winds) from the east also make flying insects less of a nuisance—many of the homes in Rum Point don’t even need a screened porch. The big draw to this area is the proximity to the “Rum Point Club”; a public beach club that offers a fantastic barefoot beach…many watersports, a restaurant, bar, grill, gift shop and pick-up beach volleyball games. (www.rumpointclub.com ) It is from the Rum Point pier that the www.redsailcayman.com 65’ catamaran departs to stingray sandbar for snorkeling trips. Also near Rum Point is the Kaibo Yacht Club restaurant, bar and marina (www.kaibo.ky) Click map on our home page.
Lastly…we have (2) large resorts in the east end (www.morritts.com and www.thereef.com ) that offer manicured beaches as well as restaurants, a modern grocery store, liquor store, gift shops, SUBWAY sandwich shop (and even a coffee/pastry shop). These two resorts also offer scuba, snorkel trips, jet skis, windsurfers, kiteboarding, ocean front pools and bar service. www.tortugadivers.com and www.whitesandwatersports.com offer snorkeling tours, paddle boards, jet skis, etc.
