I am an architect specializing in the renovation of San Francisco properties
The Castro & Noe Valley offer the quintessential San Francisco experience-a Victorian neighborhood near great restaurants, cafes, services and excellent transit connections.
This property is in the heart of San Francisco close to many cultural destinations and points of interest. In contrast, it faces a verdant and tranquil mid-block open space that is calming to contemplate through the course of the day.
Whether you are visiting for business or pleasure, this property is a great location from which to engage and explore the Bay Area. Public transit connections abound. There is also excellent vehicle access to highways 101 and 280 south serving Silicon Valley.
We enjoyed the decor details, such as the high-end chefs kitchen faucet that sets the tone for really nice finishing touches.
Amazing bathtub, and spa like showers, fit lots of people with comfy common areas and beautiful backyard without a feeling of being cramped or crowded.
Unfortunately, a few drawbacks: very thin walls inside apartment and also bordering other neighbor apartments. Noisy. Beautiful space, some cheap finishings and some nicer. Downstairs smells like mildew or old cigarette smoke maybe.
We would likely stay here again!
Rented this property for a our family so we could all stay together and was disappointed on several fronts:
- the exterior of the building is in dire need of repair/painting & the garden is overgrown
- too many ridiculous rules and excessive stipulations (binder full of rules)
- neighbors are fed up with the renting of the property and will make your stay uncomfortable
- working with the owner was difficult and unpleasant to say the least. Complete disregard for the fact that you are their customer.
Bottom line is the house is large but not worth the rental fee and I would NEVER recommend renting from the owner. Don't make the same mistake I did and listen to the several bad reviews and your gut.
the photo does not accurately show the house, which is further down and in desperate need of painting, inside and out. It was not clear that there would be other renters staying overhead, although not noisy- you can definitely hear them moving around, feet and furniture. House is not good for young children or small pets- steps can be challenging- tub needs safety strips, it is an accident waiting to happen. There are so many rules, more fitting for frat house than people who are homeowners. Garden was overgrown with grass which they did cut when informed of the situation. Will not be back and will not recommend this house to others- First disappointing house I have ever rented in San Francisco and I have rented several. We like to try new areas but will be returning to ones we know what we are getting.
We enjoyed this gorgeous property, as an empty lot next door along with the home being perched near the top of Eureka Valley, allowed for a view of the Skyline. The art, spaciousness, and lighting helped to set the tone for our three night stay over Halloween. We'd pop down the hill and back for coffee, meals, drinks and dancing, along with the convenient groceries near by, to hold us over. We brought our own music and speakers, to keep the atmosphere at it's peak, aided by the commanding views, decks, and windows throughout it's three levels. There was plenty of room for everyone, as seven very comfortable beds were made up for our seven occupants, with plenty of closet space to go around. Any one of us would gladly return to this stellar property, and feel fortunate to have uncovered this sparkling gem.
This home is in a very nice neighborhood and close to Dolores Park, shops and bakeries. The home is big and can fit a lot of people so don't hesitate to have two-three couples share the expense. The view from the large floor to ceiling glass window is wonderful. The exterior still needs a lot of work but the inside has all been renovated.
