In the heart of Old Town is a classic Conch House that has been completely renovated and updated while retaining all of its historic charm. Surrounded by lush tropical foliage with brick pavers leading up to the front door, this home is immediately pleasing to the eye. Wide porches grace the front of the house, which is painted the palest shade of yellow accented with purple shutters.
***This home is available for lease by the month, in accordance with local ordinances strictly enforced by the City of Key West. The minimum lease is for 27 nights in February and for 29 nights during any other period.
THE LIVING AREA...
As you enter through the double French doors, you'll immediately see the large framed print that gave this home its name: a beautiful red flamingo who may be dreaming, but that will be up to you. To your right is the lushly furnished living room. At the back of the house you'll find the kitchen and casual dining area, with a high vaulted ceiling. The kitchen has everything needed for the family's best chef to prepare the most ambitious meals, and there is even a bar for casual dining (or kibitzing the chef).
A wall of French doors opens to the spacious back porch, which is just two steps away from the pool with a waterfall. The pool is surrounded by dense landscaping that provides complete privacy.
The master bedroom suite with a king bed and its private bathroom is conveniently located on the main level. There is even a private door that lets you go directly from the pool to the master shower. Upstairs there are two more bedrooms, each with a queen bed. A gorgeous custom bathroom with its lavish tropical murals is down the hall.
Central Heat and AC, Ceiling Fans throughout, Heated Pool & Spa, Private gated & lushly landscaped yard with BBQ Grill, Washer/Dryer, 37' LCD Flat Screen TV, Cable TV Service, DVD Players, Microwave, Blender, Toaster, Full Gourmet Appointed Kitchen, Linens and Towels provided. We were really happy with this home. It was bright and clean and was stocked with everything we needed for our stay.
The staff was unbelievably attentive and prompt and ready with answers and solutions to any issues. I would particularly like to shout out to Amanda. She was personable, reliable, helpful above and beyond the call of duty, and we were happy to get to know her.
My husband and I enjoyed our vacation here very much. The pool temperature was nice and warm and the home was very clean. The inside is very tropical and pretty and the yard is well taken care of. The master bedroom and bath on the first floor was perfect for our situation. The location is convenient and the area is quiet, which we liked. Lori was helpful to us and we were very pleased with the service we received.
We came to Key West for some fun and relaxation. This home provided that and so much more. Lori was there to greet us and helped me throughout our stay. We could not have asked for a more beautiful home or pool area. Everything was meticulous and clean. I would recommend this home to anyone who wants to experience Key West at it's finest.
We stayed a month in this house and it is very well appointed with nice furnishings and amenities. It is on a quiet street close to downtown Key West backing up to the historic KW cemetery. It is within walking distance to Duvall Street, but be prepared as it is a long walk and then once you get there it is (up and down) Duvall. We found it much more convenient to rent a Scooter to get around.
The beach and grocery stores are not within walking distance and cab rides can get expensive around the island.
There is surround sound throughout the house and out by the pool, which is great. However there is not an AUX plug in which leaves you to listen to only the local radio stations. So if you want to listen to your iPod or other music player you will have to bring a wireless adapter or your own speaker. Be aware there is a noise ordinance in KW that is mentioned in the house book several times and posted on the streets, so don't count on playing it loud or having big parties here.
The kitchen was great with a separate ice maker. Nice area to prepare meals. The cabinets were stocked with spices and such from the previous renters. We used the grill and outdoor area daily. It was very relaxing and private even though there are neighbors on both sides, you would not know it. The pool is cement and is heated. There is a groundskeeper that comes on a schedule and keeps the place very clean.
The only reason we give this house 4 stars is the electric allowance of $100/ mo. For a 3 bdrm (sleeps 6) per month house, this seems a bit low. Anything over the allowance the renter has to pay. There was only two of us for all but one weekend and we exceeded the allowance by almost $300. Considering the monthly rent on this property, the allowance should be higher in my opinion.
Overall, we had a great time and loved the house. Last Key Realty Property Managers were excellent and provided prompt customer service when we called to ask questions or needed assistance, even after hours. We would recommend this property and would rent again.
This house is good for a romantic getaway as well as families.
Second year we've stayed here......going back next year.....lovely home...great location if you want to be able to walk in/around Key West...close to many good restaurants...very well-maintained and appointed...property managers very responsive....fairly quiet given how close the homes are...wish the roosters would all go away;...they start their "music" a bit early...very comfortable patio/pool area....
First class home with outstanding amenities. Highly recommended for anyone wanting a private getaway. Make this Key West home YOUR home! Better than any B+B and far superior to any hotel.
