I bought Beach-to-Beech chalet after renting it and others at Beech Mountain a few times. We use it as a week long get-a-way throughout the year.
We were very impressed with the property. The view is great from the back balcony and the home is tucked away down a quiet residential street. We saw many deer wandering around the area in the evenings. The property is just a short drive to the top of Beech Mountain and few more minutes down into Banner Elk. We found great places to eat each day in Banner Elk, from fine dining to casual dining. We also found the home conveniently located near a number of the better hiking options such as grandfather mountain trail, profile trail, and the Boone fork trail.
We found the home very clean, well maintained, and ready for us upon arrival. The home was very well stocked with everything needed to make it your home away from home. All you need to do is bring / buy food, if you plan to cook. I don't think the photos do the place justice. The great room is quite nice with a beautiful high wood ceiling, large windows, and a large wood burning fireplace in the middle. The other rooms are well appointed as well. We greatly enjoyed relaxing in the evenings to a nice cracking fire (chopped fire wood provided by the owner) and a good movie after hiking all day. They have a good amount of DVDs and have all the premium movie channels as well. There is also a nice fire pit with lots of chairs behind the house. We were not able to use this as a front blew in early during our trip. It rained all day the first day and was much too windy the rest of the weekend.
We have no complaints. My only comment is that the road to the house is not paved nor is the parking area by the entrance to the home. It rained quite a bit the first day and the areas got quite muddy. Our vehicle did not get stuck, but it was a bit messy going up and down the road to and from the closest paved road.
I would definitely stay here again the next time we visit the Beech Mountain / Banner Elk area.
This property is absolutely gorgeous. Well equipped with many board games, puzzles, and movies to turn a rainy stay into wonderful family time.
The property was excellent. Very nicely appointed interior, nice great room / dining room combo with giant rock fireplace. Large deck with gas grill and an outstanding area for outdoor dining. excellently furnished kitchen with plenty of utensils, plates, pots and pans. My family had a ball
We stayed at Beach to Beech for a month. Our son, daughter-in-law and two grandchildren ( 5 and 2) joined us for 2 weeks. Beach to Beech is such a comfortable home we did not want to leave! It is conviently located on the mountain with easy access to all Beech Mountain and area has to offer. The owners have gone above and beyond to make sure guests have everything they could possibly need and then some! (Cut and stacked firewood, extra gas tank for the grill, 3 large umbrellas on the deck, etc.). They were also quickly available to answer questions and provide us with information about the house and Beech Mountain. There are endless activities at Beech and surrounding areas. The hiking trails are fabulous and plentiful. Beech Mountain Club and Buckeye Rec Center have activities for all ages. We enjoyed our stay so much we are planning on returning next summer.
I have all good things to say about this Chalet except one thing. The cabin was very nice, great open living room with big fireplace, fully stocked kitchen, nice back yard and outside firepit and great location! The only problem we had when we were there was the TV and sound! We were there during the Superbowl, so we definetly were looking forward to watching the game on the flat screen! Well unfortunately, the surround sound system never worked, the TV wasn't HD and the TV volume only played at a very low level which you could barely here! So needless to say our Superbowl watching experience was not a good one! Especially since it was my favorite team and they lost! If they can fix this issue, the Chalet is a perfect place for anybody!
This is the second time we have stayed in this cabin and we have been very happy on both occasions. The rooms are well furnished, the beds are comfortable, there are lots of towels and all the linens are included. The kitchen is well stocked with just about everything you could need for cooking (we did bring a larger crock-pot than what was available because we were cooking for four people.)
We were very comfortable with four people and you could probably easily add a couple more without feeling crowded.
The owners are friendly and respond very quickly to both emails and phone calls and were very helpful with all our questions. Firewood was available for our use and we really enjoyed sitting around the fire at the end of a day of skiing (or all day!) They have wifi internet, cable (which we didn't use) and a DVD player (which we did use.) It's about a 25 minute drive to Sugar Mountain and about 10 minutes to Ski Beech (depending on road conditions, Hawks Nest snow tubing is about 45-60 minutes away.)
Fred's Store is at the top of the mountain and they have just about anything you might have forgotten to bring... plus lots of fun things like chips, candy, wine, movies to rent and popcorn!
The only less than positive aspect was the lack of hot water. The water felt warm for hand washing but, even with only one shower going at a time, we all agreed that the shower water never really warmed up. That being said, everything else about the cabin, the owners, the location and the setup is absolutely wonderful and very much recommended and we will probably be back again next winter!
