When you see it, you'll understand!
This home has been in Holiday TV commercials. No matter the Season, this piece of God's Country is perfect for any activity. You will leave feeling refreshed~
The house was homey and lovely with plenty of room for different interests or cordoning off toddlers.
Our three families with two small children arrived to soft music playing inside the charming, neat and clean Mountain House as well as a welcome note from the owner. The tasteful arrangement of the open kitchen/living/fireplace area with great views onto the Sunday River ski slopes became a focal point for many lasting memories of our week long stay.
Each bedroom and bath were tastefully designed with the wooden motif of the whole house (originally a barn).
An upstairs loft (with a view down into the combined kitchen/living/fireplace area) and an adjoining spacious apartment with full bath and kitchen also had a great view of the Sunday River ski area.
There were wonderful trails in the woods behind the house as well as a pleasant walk in the fields in front of the house all the way to Sunday River and a historic "must see" wooden bridge built in 1872.
All the appliances, furnace and hot water worked well and ample containers were available for either our recyclable or household trash. Excellent snow plowing service was provided during the one storm we had while there.
Excellent written directions to Mountain House from various points were provided and Julie was always available by phone to answer questions before and during our stay.
While I stayed in the Mountain House Lodge next door, I got to see the Farm House and was almost jealous that I didn't stay there. Each bedroom was more charming than the other and was treated to a wonderful ping pong match with the gracious owner Julie who I suspect let me win (just being modest). Just a great experience, fantastic views, diverse walking trails and nice access to other activities. Very relaxing.
I'm not sure I can find the words to describe my first reaction to Mountain House, I had seen photos but they had not prepared me for how stunning this property really is. Anyone looking for a beautiful outdoor setting for a wedding, family reunion, or any other occasion where you might need to put up a number of people I would without hesitation recommend this venue. It is obvious by how beautifully kept the grounds are, to to the cleanliness of the homes themselves that Julie and Frank pride themselves on maintaining a first rate establishment. I wish everyone the same wonderful experience that my family had!
This property was the perfect fit for our wedding. The main house was clean, comfortable and well equipped for our stay. This is the perfect for property for family gatherings, group get-a-ways or out door events. Summer or winter, this is the place to stay!
We'll be back this winter for a ski vacation! Thanks.
My family and I had wonderful time at this perfect ski vacation house. We stayed with another family and had 5 children between us, there was more than enough room for both families. The fireplace and ping pong table were great. and the kitchen was spacious had had everything anyone would need to prepare a gourmet meal. The owner has put together a wonderful book of activities and restaurants nearby, and it is about a 3 minuter drive to Sunday River! We will definitely be back.
X-C skiis, boots, and poles located in property for renters' use. Zip Lines, Dog Sledding, Snowshoeing, Ice Skating, Snowmobiling, Fireworks, Sunday Worship off site. Fly fishing and brook trout fishing on property with private access. Hiking on property and Appalachian trails close by.
