About the property

Picturesque marina and mountain views from this quaint cottage

We love what we do and it shows! Harbor View is a quaint cottage with a beautiful view of the Northeast Harbor marina and Elliot Mountain from both upper and lower floors. Just steps to downtown's quaint boutiques, art galleries, shopping, restaurants and close to all of Acadia National Park's beautiful offerings.

Comfy, linens, upscale appliances and dishware finish off this 2 bedroom, 2.5 bath exceptional cottage. Perfect for a honey moon, romantic get-a-way or a family with smaller children. There is an energy efficient heat pump for maximum temperature comfort, great for chilly nights or icy cool for hot and humid days.

A nice sized grassed back yard offers a propane bbq grill, patio dining furniture and a picnic table. Off street parking for one car under carport.

The master bedroom is nicely finished in white, it has a queen-sized very comfortable bed. Down the hall is a smaller second bedroom offering a twin sized day bed with a twin-sized pop up trundle unit.

We are nestled in on a tiny side street in the beautiful village of Northeast Harbor. Downtown is a two minute walk. The marina, which offers ferries to the outer islands is a 1 minute stroll down the hill. Some of the best hiking and biking trails within Acadia are just up the road within 2 miles. Seal Harbor Beach is 3 miles away.

Northeast Harbor is comprised of quaint boutiques, art galleries, and restaurants. The population in the summer increases with both summer residents, as well as tourists. Come and see some beautiful, ocean view -million dollar homes.

We are close to all that Acadia National park (some of the best hiking and biking trails in Acadia are less than a mile away) and Bar Harbor has to offer while not feeling over-crowded by the masses of cruise ship excursionists. Bar Harbor is accessible from the most amazingly-scenic route the Island offers through Seal Harbor and is about a 6-7 mile ride. Seal Harbor Beach is just driving minutes away. Incredible Thuya and Asticou gardens are within walking distance of our property.

The BEST.

  • 5 of 5

I've rented about 5 houses through VRBO now and this was by far the absolute best house I've stayed in. It was IMMACULATE. (I have horror stories about some others...) Everything we needed to make quick dinners was included (utensils, dishes, full Brita water pitcher, etc.), and everything to get us started (paper towels, toilet paper, etc.) I gave a quick call to the owner to figure out how the AC worked because it was 85 degrees one day, but it worked well, as well as the heat we needed later in the week. It's a charming little house and the views are spectacular. Yes, it overlooks a parking lot, but look further and you can see the gorgeous harbor and beyond.

People mentioned the steep stairs but they were no issue for a 51 year old and a 16 year old. The main bedroom was beautiful and light, with a comfy Queen bed, and lots of closet space. The second bedroom included two twin beds. We were a family of two, but it would be awesome for a family of four as well. The living area had plenty of space, including a little window seat and a desk where you can do your travel journaling or computer work. It also had two bathrooms upstairs and a powder room on the kitchen/dining/laundry room level.

I cannot say enough good things about this house and experience. Did I mention it was super clean? I want to thank the owners for providing such a lovely little house that helped to make our visit extraordinary. A+++++++

Owner's Response: Lisa-Thank you so very much for the glowing review! Only in Maine can you require the A/C and Heat all within the same week. :-) We very much enjoyed having you as our guests and look forward to having you back real soon!

Loved our stay in NE Harbor

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time in Northeast Harbor. It is a super quiet, quaint town with a great sense of community. We loved being able to walk to the harbor and into town for breakfast. The home was immaculately clean and tidy and tastefully decorated. It is small and cozy. It worked great for my family, but expect a lot of togetherness as the rooms to both bedrooms have louvers on them so you can hear anything that is going on. The second bedroom is tiny, but does have 2 beds in it and my boys didn't mind sharing. The property is in a great in-town location, but is right on a public parking lot. This was not a problem for us in mid-June as it wasn't too crowded, but it may be a privacy issue for some. View of harbor is partially obstructed by the cute town hall building, but we enjoyed it. Super close to Acadia so that was a huge plus too. Can't wait to return!

Great location to explore Acadia NP

  • 4 of 5

We had a great time staying in this house. It was nice to be in quiet NE Harbor as opposed to Bar Harbor which seemed like the typical touristy place. It was close to both sides of Acadia NP, which is why we were there. The house itself gave us plenty of room (family of 3). We enjoyed our time exploring Acadia NP for sure.

Convenient Home away from Home

  • 4 of 5

Very clean home, 2- story, with kitchen/laundry facilities downstairs, and bedrooms /living area up.

Convenient to shops, restaurants in quaint village of NE Harbor. Nice view of harbor from living area.

Easy check-in/check-out.

With rental car, we enjoyed being close to Bar Harbor (15-20 minute drive), without being in the midst

of all its traffic/activity.

For gourmet dining, The Fork and Table is a 4-minute walk. The Asticou Inn (across the harbor)

is a 5-minute drive, with a good restaurant and gardens. Other casual restaurants are a 2-3 minute walk.

Early-mid October is an excellent time to visit, for Acadia and spectacular colors, though a few businesses

are already closed for the winter by then.
