Beautiful property

  • 4 of 5

There are a few items which need to be updated on this property preview for potential renters. The owners were receptive and responsive to our needs when contacted. Previous occupants had been extended renters and had left with some attention needed prior to renters coming in. This is a perfect rental for kids! Completely fenced in, playground, basketball court, trampoline and a soccer field with nets when maintained and repaired. Very quiet neighborhood and not too far from San Antonio. You will need to take any food item you need as there will not even be any salt and pepper on site, or at least that is how we found it. Cabins are a nice addition but for us we found, after our arrival, they were too far from the house for us to feel comfortable with our grandchildren sleeping there, ages 5, 7, and 2 10. Perhaps we are too protective? I would recommend this property however, I would ask lots of questions prior to rental were I to rent this property again and I would.

Very relaxing stay near many local attractions

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay at this home. It provides a very relaxing setting and is convenient to many local attractions. We spent a day at Six Flags and another on the River Walk, but spent most of our time relaxing at the house. The outdoor areas are terrific! We would love to return when it is warmer, to take advantage of the great pool! The owner is very responsive.

Overall great experiance hope to go back soon.

  • 5 of 5

Really enjoyed our stay here. We went down for a weekend golf trip. The house was very clean and nice, with the additional cabins this gave us plenty of space and everyone had their own bed. The highlight of our stay was the outdoor patio, cabana, pool and fire pit. The owner of the house was easy to get ahold of and pleasant to deal with. Would recommend this place to anyone and would stay again.

Beautiful place to a private resort!

  • 4 of 5

I stayed at this home for two weeks with my family and we very much enjoyed our visit. This property is a bit off the beaten path (which we like) and is reasonable driving distance from all of the places we wanted to see, including SA and Austin as well as multiple state parks and other natural areas.

As shown in the photos, this property has a fantastic cabana and pool area with TV's available everywhere! Nothing like watching the World Series from inside the pool! The outdoor space is great with a large wrap around porch and multiple seating areas depending on your needs.

The interior of the home is very nice with a plush master bedroom suite, best for a family so no debate over who stays in the master.

I enjoyed the fact that there are animals on the property...goats and a very persistent chicken who is obviously used to being fed by guests.

The owner was available for any questions we had and once we figured out the front gate to the property (stay close to the railway ties), we didn't need much help as everything was pretty straight forward.

The only slight drawbacks that make this a 4-star rather than a 5-star are the lack of wifi, dishwasher and gas BBQ (the outdoor grill is not great for cooking). But these are minor compared with the joy of waking up to perfect hot weather and a private pool resort.

I would happily stay again and would recommend it to anyone looking for a family style home in Texas!

Did not reflect pictures

  • 2 of 5

Again the pictures did not show the whole background. There was a lot of junk scenery in the background. There was an old run down playground with isolated boards and dangerous nails poking through. Upon arrival, we were met by almost a hundred wasps. They were surrounding the entry and the outdoor furniture. Someone came and sprayed a can on them the next day after complaining. Th ey were still around, but not as many. There are tons of signs that you can not wear your shoes in the house, but the floor is super hard. Upon asking the owner about how to turn on the fountain, there was no response. I asked numerous times. I rejected the cabins because there was rat feces on top of the loft. I would not stay in the cabins. Upon opening the back door the blinds fell off the plastic. I put them back on, but some were so rigged it was useless. There is so much more. The renter needs to be more professional and real. If he was a better renter and didnt falsely advertise, it would be a better place to rent. Pros...the pool is nice, there is a nice cabana but don't sit on the furniture, the house inside is very pretty, and the kids will have fun. There is more negative, but I will leave it at that. The owner should show the real background and not advertise lights and fountains unless prepared to let us use them. We had a good time, but there are definitely issues. The person renting this should do something about the complaints instead of getting angry. It could be a very nice rental if.....

Owner's Response: I am sorry you were disappointed during your stay which was never mentioned before. Writing a review after almost 4 months of your stay is not very helpful. The pictures are real and there a lot of pictures so you can get a feel of the property. The pictures were taken by a professional realtor and my husband. It is a large property (6.5 acres) and of course there areas that look like a ranchette. It is a ranchette home and we keep up with the property the best we can with such a large piece of land. Our cleaning lady does a great job maintaining the home. The living area is very well kept and when not rented, my family and friends go there every weekend and we do sit on the outdoor furniture and we do have a great time. We send pest control and spray once a month, as I stated before being such a large property there are bugs and insects and the wasps were taken care of and then we did send the professionals. The problem is that in the summer months wasps are looking for water so the sprinkler system and pool grab their attention. I am so sorry about all of your negative comments, the problem is that all the renters that have been so happy have not written reviews.

First Impression: doesn't look like the images posted on (grass not mowed, outside play area not kept up and not all working, porch and area not clean of leaves or dirt)

First day of arrival - arrived at 4pm to an enclosed compound & unpacked. Around 6pm day of arrival we noticed banging, it was construction workers working on the house which we were not aware of. 2nd day, there were more workers on the property doing painting outside to one of the cabins. Emailed the owner to ask if it would be going on duration of stay - didn't really answer just apologized. Asked if there was a way to turn on the fountains/jets and waterfall to the pool - owner said no there is a lock on them because of past guest leaving them on and running his electricity bill up. So the images are deceitful of what your actually getting. I thought I would have the waterfall trickle as I laid out & relaxed with my family by the pool - not the case at all. Mind you my kids are 15 months old & our first family vacation. Also, the outside shower that is off of master bathroom had masking tape & broken wood particles from the construction crew. 4th day the pool man arrived, cleaned pool for 2 hours during early afternoon so we were unable to go out to the pool. There were workers on the property as well. 5th day there were outside cleaning crew that arrived mid-morning that were there for several hours cleaning around the house and pool area - water hose, blowing the leaves in pool. My hubby cleaned pool w/net. Owner arrived as well the 5th day wanting to get his boat out of his storage asked us to move vehicles. The last couple days there were construction crews in & out, people dropping off RV, etc. I would have to say that there were many disappointments when I was looking forward to a very much needed relaxing vacation as a new mother to 15 month old twins who had not had a vacation in 2 years. I believe we paid good money for a resort like feeling & feel we didn't get that by staying here. To top it all off there was a free range chicken on the property that came right up to the house porch/breezeway area & pooped on the slab. My toddlers pick everything up & put in mouth - My daughter picked up chicken poop not knowing, but thank goodness I caught her before it went to mouth. If I wanted interruptions we would have went to a RESORT!

Good thoughts - inside of house was clean, neat and tighty. Beds were comfortable and clean.

Owner's Response: The property is a 6.5 acre property. We do make take cleaning very important (I am a clean freak), so the place is not clean it is super clean. As I stated before it is a 6.5 acre property and some areas are wooded and by consequence it is a ranchette property. I will answer each one of the concerns stated above: * The photographs are professional realtor pictures so they are real, they have not been photo shopped or altered. * The day that of arrival I did ask for permission to work on the 950 LNFT iron fence that surrounds the property. The fence was 90% complete and they had to finish it which consisted of 3 days of work. I did ask renter for permission if one worker could finish the job. The fence is about 800 FT away from the main house and pool area. There is also a heavily wooded area that cuts the visibility of the fence, the only thing the worker would be doing was welding, there was no banging. * The same day that I asked about the fence, I had asked permission about the painter, that had been painting the property. I asked if he could paint the cabins that had been not rented (used), they are also 600 FT away from main house and are behind the heavily wooded area. * The jets and waterfall have been locked. I cannot afford to have irresponsible renters that will leave the jets and waterfall on for their entire stay and have to pay an electricity bill of $1,250. That is something that I cannot control and have to keep locked. * The master bathroom has 2 showers an indoor and an outdoor shower. The outdoor shower has 2 shower heads and the previous renters had broken one of the showerheads but the other showerhead was working perfectly. * The property has to be maintained, one of those things is the pool guy that goes on a weekly basis especially in the summer so the pool can be in sharp condition., The pool guy usually takes around 30 minutes to do his job. * There is always a midweek cleaning that the renter pays at the time of booking, this is so the place can be maintained as it is a very large property and so renters can enjoy their stay. * Regarding the boat I called the renter to pull out my boat from my boat storage and they did give me permission to do so. * Everything that was done in the property was authorized by renters, we always asked the renters beforehand. * We do have goats and chickens on the property and always send pest control once a month.
