Mi-Wuk Village Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Cabin, 4 Bedrooms + Other (See Description), 3.5 Baths, (Sleeps 10-12)

Leave behind crowds and commotion of your everyday life and enjoy all that Sierras have to offer from our spacious cabin in the woods.

Wake up to the chirping of birds, pecking of woodpeckers, or the sight of snowflakes floating gently past your bedroom window. Step outside and take a full breath of air smelling of pine and cedar. Listen to the sounds of the forest. Take a brisk walk up the driveway to a clearing from which unfolds a beautiful view of forest and mountains to the west (great spot to watch sunsets, too.)

What will it be today? A day trip to Yosemite? A drive up to the High Sierras? Swimming or kayaking on Lake Pinecrest? Skiing or snowboarding at Dodgeridge, or sledding at Little Sweden? Or maybe you will leave your car behind and hike or ride your bike on the nearby trails?

The possibilities are endless. Quaint Twain Harte with its stores, restaurants, golf course, miniature golf and a nice playground for kids is only 3 miles away. Sonora (malls, restaurants, movie theater, antique shops) is about 10 miles due west. Nearby Sonora is Columbia State Historic Park where you can step back in time to the Gold Rush era and ride a stage coach, pan for gold, or enjoy ice-cold sarsaparilla at the saloon. A bit further away are Big Trees State Park, Moaning Caverns, and Angel's Camp. And don't forget exploring the high country further up highway 108, beyond the town of Strawberry. There you will find the Dardanelles, Kennedy Meadows Resort and Pack Station, and the Sonora Pass. Whether you stay a weekend or a week, you will not run out of things to do.

What makes our cabin truly unique are the 13 acres of pine, fir, and cedar forest on which it is situated, surrounded by acres and acres of state and private forest, which is crisscrossed by logging roads which double as hiking/biking/horseback riding/cross-country skiing trails. There are trails running to commercial areas of Sugar Pine (check out Kelly's Kitchen) and Mi-Wuk (both about 15 minutes walk) as well as to Lyon's Dam, and, from what I hear, all the way to Strawberry. In the winter, a 1/5 mile driveway doubles as a private sled run, not too steep for little kids, yet long enough for grown-ups

Inside the cabin, you will find two bedroom wings, each with 2 bedrooms, making it easy for 2 or 3 families to enjoy staying there at one time. One wing has a master bedroom with a comfortable king-size bed and an adjoining bathroom. A small bedroom with 2 twin beds adjoins the master bedroom. This setup is great for a family with younger kids. The other wing has two bedrooms (each with two twin beds), a full bathroom with shower and tub, and a sitting area with 6-foot tall windows which allow you to enjoy the sight of outdoors while staying in.

The huge living/dining room sports high wood ceiling, a wood-burning fireplace (in front of which we spent many an evening after a day of skiing or sledding) and a TV with a VCR and a DVD player.

Next to the fully appointed kitchen, there is a laundry room with a washer and a dryer and a breakfast nook which will accommodate 6-8 people.

Downstairs, there is a large family room with a game table (air hockey, pool, and ping-pong) and a TV with a VCR as well as bunk beds and 2 futons. A gas fireplace tucked in the corner will keep you nice and cozy. Adjoining the family room is a full bathroom with shower.

It's a great cabin in a great location. Come and enjoy it, and bring a friend or two.

About Andre Kruglikov

I am a software developer, and after days (and sometimes nights) spent in front of a computer, I always look forward to the space and the solitude I find at our cabin.

I love taking long hikes or bike rides through the forest, exploring different trails.

In the summer, Lake Pinecrest is great for swimming or kayaking and a 5-mile hike around the lake is reasonably strenuous with plenty of spots to stop, take a swim in the lake and enjoy the scenery.

In the winter, we head up to Dodgeridge for skiing or snowshoeing or to Little Sweden for sledding (there is no lift, and you get plenty of exercise hiking up the hill, but the ride down is well worth it.)

Andre Kruglikov purchased this cabin in 2002

Why Andre Kruglikov chose Dodge Ridge

My better half was almost born in Long Barn, and their family has been vacationing in that area almost every year. When we happened on this cabin, we loved the space, the solitude and the proximity to Lake Pinecrest and to Dodgeridge.

What makes this cabin unique

This is a great place to unwind and relax, with plenty of space, both indoors and outdoors for a large group of people.

Beautiful house in great location

  • 5 of 5

12 of us stayed for two days. This house is spacious and has everything. There is plenty to do, play games, walk the forest, chill out and listen to the nature, watch your favorite movies. The owner is very helpful and accommodating. I stayed in july and it was bit hot at this time. Would love to come back in May.

This should be the new standard of glamping, Home in the woods.

  • 5 of 5

The driveway was a little rough & you have to look carefully to find the turn off. Also to follow the arrows because it is truly a home in the woods with multiple paths into those woods. Inside was very clean and vermin free. The pictures don't do justice as to how large the space is. The amenities and television were also a plus. Woods to explore around the house. We rented a boat, fished and swam in Pinecrest lake (20 min away). We also went horseback riding at Aspen Meadows Pack station (33 min away) at a affordable price. We consider ourselves campers for a long time, but as I get older I knew I needed more comfort. I tried glamping in a bungalow, eh, it was ok. This, this was great. I spoke to the owner about how we wanted to bring our fire pit and the logistics of how we would take care, and he allowed it. It made for great evenings.

Very nice property

  • 5 of 5

When they say Cabin in the Woods they're not kidding. What a wonderful property in a beautiful place. The owner is very nice and accommodating. My only problem is the laundry policy. As a suggestion, please increase the cleaning fee to include the cost of laundry. The nightly rate is cheap enough for people not to complain. It is very difficult for people like me to wake up really early in the morning of check out and wash the linen. I would definitely stay here again however it might be a challenge to drive down to the property in snow conditions.

Nice and quiet

  • 4 of 5

This is the second time we have stayed at the cabin and we plan on making it a yearly trip. Quiet mountain home with plenty of room. Short drive to Sonora for anything you may need and not too far from many other attractions, we went to Ironstone and a couple of the caverns in the area.

Excellent time up in the mountains!

  • 5 of 5

My friends and I could not have had a better time at this cabin. If you do a bit of homework finding this cabin is not difficult at all. Once you get there you will be amazed at how spacious the cabin is. There were 5 of us and we were so excited to see how nice the cabin is once we entered for the first time. It definitely exceeded our expectations. Everything you need is there. Kitchen was very big and had everything a person could need. Every room, bed and bathroom were very clean and comfortable.

Cabin is secluded and surrounded by towering trees but there is enough of a clearing to see immaculate views of the sky day or night. The deck was large and where we spent most of our time. The game room downstairs along with the extra space it offers is a fantastic touch. There is a big table adjacent to the living room where you can enjoy a feast or play hours of board games that the owner kindly provides. The book selection is amazing as well. You will not be "roughing it" up in the mountains at this cabin one bit.

Location is great. Very close to Twain Harte, Sonora and Pinecrest Lake. The owner was fantastic. Was very patient with all of my questions and was available during the weekend in case we needed something. My only advice to renters is pay the fee for the garbage pickup or be prepared to haul it back in your car like we did. This is mandated by the city, not the owner by the way.

You can't ask for a better cabin, location or owner to work with. We will definitely rent this cabin again.
