My husband (Peter) and I (Zoë) bought the home in 1972 and lived in the main house until the children came, and we realized we needed a 'neighborhood' for them to grow up in and play. At the same time, my parents retired (1981), moving to Maine from Rhode Island, and they lived in the house until their passing.
At the time of our purchase in '72, the former owner had already raised the beach house, winterized it, and put 2 apartments in the walk-out basement. (We also rent out the apartments ((2 bedrooms each - 1 king and 2 twins)) at a reduced rate for families that are interested.
Peter is a former Real Estate Broker/Financial Aid Director for the University of Southern Maine. I taught middle school for 35 years, retiring in 2006, or so I thought! I now am an Adjunct Instructor for the Maine Community College System, teaching math at their campuses in both Wells and South Portland.
We have 2 children ... my son lives here in Saco and my daughter lives in RI.
To say the least, this beach house has held a very special place in all our hearts. Many beautiful family memories were built there, both when we occupied the home and when my parents did.
We have been renting the main house since 2006 and have made wonderful new friends who have become like family to us.
Zoe Gregory purchased this house in 1972
Loved our vacation as usual. The weather was wonderful (no such thing as "too hot" when you're at the beach) and we can't wait for next year already.
Thank you for sharing and letting us stay at your house. It was just perfect for us. See you next year.
This was our 9th year under the same roof and it is still a wonderful week that we cherish. We are already looking forward to next year at Ocean Park. We are privileged to be a part of this unique community where life is a beach and we love it. Another week in Paradise ! Great week among friends and family and the weather was perfect.
Thank you, Zoe, for those sweet memories. Your kindness and hospitality overwhelms us.
Such a fabulous week...lots of biking, exploring the beautiful sandy beach and creek, found 3 sand dollars, ate delicious meals, ate ice cream everyday, built sand castles in the sand, and body surfed. We love Ocean Park and will be back. Your home was a perfect place to create our memories. Thanx Peter and Zoe. You guys were great.
This was our first time renting this property, short distance to the beach. House is very roomy and clean. We enjoyed our stay and would rent again. Thank you Zoe and Peter...
This is our family's 6th year at this property. The owners, Pete and Zoe, are great people who always ensure our stay is comfortable and enjoyable. You can't beat this location and easy beach access.
Ocean Park is a small beach community located in Old Orchard Beach. It is a family oriented community where families have been coming for generations. Less than a minute walk from our home, you will find a variety store, 2 restaurants, a small grocery store, gift shop, antique shop, library, church, shuffleboard, tennis, walking trails, biking trails, and a community center. We are steps away from a beautiful white sands of a 7 mile beach, and a short driving distance to marshes, preservations, marinas, golf courses, and fishing piers.
In downtown Old Orchard Beach you will find an oceanside amusement park, arcades, shops, restaurants and much more.
Grocery stores, water parks, and cinemas are minutes away by car. You can even venture into Portland (about a 15 minute drive) to enjoy their wonderful restaurants, museums, stage plays, and shopping in downtown Portland or at the Maine Mall.
