Convenient location close to all major venues, restaurant, beaches and public transportation.

What makes this apartment unique

The property is a short walk to one of the most sought out beaches in San Juan and the Condado Area. At the same time is at walking distance from Loiza Street and the Plaza de Mercado in Santurce which as of late are pushing the envelope with their gastronomic offering.

Clean, conveninet and quiet

  • 5 of 5

The efficiency apartment worked just fine for me - close to a restaurant for breakfast, etc., walking distance from the ocean, convenient for cab services, neighbor helpful when I arrived to get the owner and the key. A respire during a weekend wedding for my "granddaughter."

Nothing but good things about our stay!

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed everything about staying at the studio! Eduardo and Beatriz are great people take great care of the studio. We ran into them on multiple occasions (coming/going for our nightly walk to dinner in Condado, morning runs along the main drag in Conando, coffee or food trips to all their recommended spots, etc.) And we have nothing but great things to say about them.

The studio was just as described, about four small blocks from the beach (5 min), had everything we needed for beach trips (awesome beach chairs) and super close to hopping on the highway to anywhere you needed to go. We ventured out everynight for dinner in Condado and walked it everytime (about 1.5 miles depending on where your going) but we enjoyed the safe route and cool breeze via the beach. Theres plenty of parking options available but the 30 min walk each way also helped prepare and burn off all the yummy food.

Highly recommended you book this location and the FANTASTIC owners!

Okay but not the comfort I am used to

  • 2 of 5

I have travelled to all 50 states and 12 different countries. So I feel I am a seasoned traveler. I try to stay at nice but affordable hotels. When booking in San Juan, hotels I would normally stay at were about $350 to $450 a night, much overpriced from other locations when I have stayed stateside. So I chose to book with homeaway which I have had very good success with during other travels. Please keep this perspective as I write this review.

The property managers were extremely nice and helpful. They were always courteous and prompt to answer any question or concern that I had. I would certainly rate them a five out of five stars.

However, the property itself, was much lower quality than I am used to staying. There was street parking. However, the street was very narrow. Many property owners had buckets in the street to block parking. I never had a problem finding a parking space near the unit. However, one morning the mirror on my car had folded in. It is very difficult and tight to pass between parked cars when cars are parked on both sides of the road.

The unit reminded me of a garage that had been turned into rental property. It was located behind the property owner’s home. There looked to be two other rentals on the property. I had to use a total of four keys to access the rental unit. One to unlock the barred gate to enter the property, one to unlock the barred gate on the rental unit, one to unlock the deadlock bolt on the door, and one to unlock the door. The walk from the barred gate to the unit was a little messy with older looking chairs and tables for tenants to use. I also had to pass the garage dumpsters on the tight walkway to get to my unit.

There were always tiny little flying bugs in the unit. I believe it was fruit flies. The property owner told me it was mosquitoes. I may have had one bug bite. The bed was a full size bed and I am used to sleeping on a king. The headboard was not connected to the bed and my pillow kept falling between the headboard and the wall. The mattress was not a high quality mattress, I was really missing my mattress and bed from home! I am very picky about where I sit. I never used the couch to sit on. It looked a little soiled. I went to Walmart and bought a rubber mat to put in the stand up shower. I was a little afraid to shower without flipflops or a mat down. There were plenty of towels provided, but only one washcloth. So I also picked up a pack of washcl

Owner's Response: We’re sorry to read your stay was not as expected. We strive to offer the most comfort within our price range. We find interesting that you compare our $75 night property with a $350-450 night property, less than 25% from what you used to pay per night in San Juan. While I value you comparing our property to an expensive hotel, I respectfully think it may not be a balanced comparison. The apartment is a ground floor casita located at back of the property, we keep updated photos on the website as well as a description so there are no surprises. One of the comments we often get is, “Oh, it looks just like in the pictures”. As you acknowledge, our street is narrow, as are most streets in the Condado and Santurce neighborhood. We are glad you found convenient parking although one needs to park very closely to the sidewalk since it is a two way street. We realize that using four keys get confusing, we have added to our list to streamline the door hardware. We also have plans to update the yard furniture a bit. My grandmothers’ patio furniture may need a new coat of paint. We designed and built some of the patio chairs ourselves, so we may be attached. The bins you saw on the yard are for recycling, we are making an effort to get all our tenants to recycle and it requires the bins being visible. Unfortunately there is very little we can do about the mosquitoes. On any tropical island mosquitoes can be a nuisance even with all the precautions. We provide repellent for our tenants and have mosquito’s screens on the windows. Regarding the murphy bed’s headboard, we will make sure the cleaning lady positions it properly so other renters don’t run into the same problem. We would like to add that we try to be meticulous about the cleaning. The shower, as well as the toilet and sink, gets disinfected and brushed thoroughly each time a renter changes. The floor gets mopped, all sheets changed, etc. The futon cover is washed often. When you arrived the futon cover had been changed recently although the microfiber gets shadows when it’s vacuumed in different directions. Our property has been listed for more than 4 years on VRBO and other websites and reviews overall has been consistently favorable. Nevertheless, we will take notice of your observations and work to improve our property. On your next rental we do recommend talking to the host during your stay to give them the chance to address your concerns. Still, we thank you for giving our hosting 5 stars.
