Cosy villa with a special ambience

Villa Santa Sabina is located in a quiet residential area in Balcon Al Mar with a sea view. Nearby there are several picturesque bays, which can be reached on foot like Ambolo or within a few minutes by car. Moreover, there are very large and wide sandy beaches along a turquoise coloured sea in and around Xabia, which invites you for swimming, sunbathing and long beach walks. The house lies just before the famous lighthouse of Cabo de la Nao. In a 10 -minute walk from the house towards the lighthouse, you can see the sun setting in the evening dramatically over the cliff and even see Ibiza on clear days - for instance from one of the local restaurants. The house is surrounded by a romantic garden (1000 m2) with pool (8x4m), pool complex, palm trees and old Mediterranean plants and has 4 sunny terraces. From the solarium (rooftop terrace) you can view the sea. Behind the house there is a built-in barbecue with stone seats. Everywhere here your spirits will soar and you can relax and unwind. Within walking distance you can reach several restaurants, and a well-stocked supermarket, which is open every day, a hairdresser's salon and a newspaper stand. By car it is about 10 minutes to Xabia 's town centre and other bays and sandy beaches. (More photos on request).

Recreation: The villa is ideally situated to explore further. In half an hour's drive, for example, you can reach the famous caves of Benidoleig. Or take a fantastic mountain tour around Bernia in Spain. Have you heard of Jalon with its popular wines? Or have you ever seen huge potholes? There is a lot to discover in the hinterland - and your culinary senses are very well taken cared of. So you can travel into a gigantic mountain range without much effort / dive or relax on various sandy beaches and / or rocky bays. It is so versatile that weeklong you can experience something different exciting or relaxing, without repetition. We would also be glad to give you more tips from our own extensive experience. But you should also have interest in seeing the town and do some shopping. Valencia offers as a great experience. But you should not miss a visit to the nearby coastal towns to enjoy all the variety. Even a trip to Ibiza or Majorca by ferry from the nearby Denia is possible every day.

Whoever wants to enjoy his holiday free from cooking, can reach 4 restaurants directly from the house on foot.

We live in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, in the high mountains. Our house in Javea is our second home by the sea. Because we feel so comfortable there too, we want to give this opportunity to you too. We ourselves visit the home 2 times a year and take care of everything with love. It should be your personal home too during your vacation.

Our tenants feel happy instantly and tell us: 'The recovery begins immediately and so I really have some of my most valuable days of the year'. We offer you a second home away from your own. The garden is grown wonderfully with old plants and great atmosphere. From the solarium you can see the sun rise in the mornings and set again in the evening. This gives the feeling of experiencing a long day from start till the end. And of course, to watch a beautiful starry sky cosily in a deck chair, that is something quite interesting.

The proximity to Capo del la Nao is a cherry on top of a cake. Only a 10-minute walk and you are at one of the most beautiful viewpoints in Spain - with distant view and the nearby cliff line, with offshore islands and 160 metres vertically above the sea. Around the house there are a total of 8 Miradores - viewpoints to get the most beautiful country side views and sea views. They are all popular and well worth a day trip. Beauty in a little space.

What makes this villa unique

Very quiet location in a central holiday resort. Sea view - proximity to the sea - with various beaches and wonderful rocky bays. Every day you can experience a new beach or take a tour into the mountains. A diverse holiday that offers something for everyone. Or take a stroll in the historic centre and enjoy yourself in the many cafes and restaurants and relax lying with a book at your own pool the next day - for us this is what holiday and relaxation means. Or, if you want, you can even take a trip to Ibiza or Majorca. Ferry ride from Denia - 20 km away from Javea.

Tainted Paradise

This villa is situated in a beautiful area and has a rustic charm. Our visit was spoilt on several counts as follows: When we arrived we were surprised to discover there are 11 steps to reach the ground floor (entrance) level and carrying heavy suitcases and food boxes up these does not come easy for older people. The villa is described as suitable for elderly and infirm! Anyone arriving at night will struggle in the dark garden (tree surrounded) and will not find the outside lighting until they have entered the villa and found the switch - in the rear hallway.

Once inside the only instructions left for us were in german - apparently the cleaner forgot to leave english info. At this time of year it is quite cool in the evenings but the 2 gas heaters agai had no readable instructions. The TV is an old analogue model, there is no cable vision and the satellite box has only german and french programmes. The TV failed after 45 minutes and never worked again.

No information about the wifi which also faile after about 2 hours. Later on the local agent (Marie) came to the villa and told us we must visit the supermarket 5 miles away and pay to "re-charge" the Orange router to avail wifi. Though we did do this and paid 20 euros the wifi would not work. Marie came and tried but could not get a wifi signal so took the router to be tested at the weekend but was told it worked, we never saw it again and lost the 20 euros.

We were also told if the gas ran out we must find a garage/stockist to exchange a cylinder (up and down those steps!) and pay the fee. None of this is mentioned on the Homeaway website description of this accomodation and would have put us of making this booking. The villa would be a delightful place to stay in summer with hot weather and light evenings but as mentioned before the steps make it unsuitable for the elderly (we are both 78) and carrying heavy calor gas bottles up and down the steps could be very dangerous!

To summarise we feel the description of the villa should be amended in line with our comments.

Owner's Response: My wife and me are sorry for the incommodities felt by guests. But sometimes these incommodities/difficulties would have been avoidable: most elderly guests are able to make 11 steps. How "elderly" does someone feel and when is it to much for this house?  There is no general scale for that. There also is an  2nd entrance to the house from the back  and there are less steps to climb. The 84 years old mother of my wife was more the 4 times in the house without any step problem. If there are doubts, it would be best to ask about circumstances before renting. This is just a mail to me as the owner. And there are all the pictures of the house.If the house information was not given in english, this was a mistake by our agency. It should not happen and reason for me to apologize. In such a case Marie from our agency should be contactet, she talks fluently english and all information is available in english.The TV worked, but was old and now is changed in to a more modern one.In Spain always the gas bottles have to be changed by oneselfe, this can be done in any gasoline station. The gas bottle for cooking is in the basement, so it has not to be carried over the stairway. There is a switch for the garden light  close to the entrance door from the street.For all our guests the wifi box works fine. There are no complaints. Our agency told me, in this case once it was forgotten to press the "on" button, then the other time the battery of the box was not recharched. Using any kind of set, the instruction should be read. As mentioned in the description in home away, in the wifi box there is a  spanish prepaid SIM card, that has to be recharged when empty by the user.There is no general heating in the house. There are 2 gas heaters and the chimney. In summer surely no heating in the house is needed, in spring and autum in the evenings you get along with this heating system, if there are doubts, a house more expensive with general heating should be rentet. So it says in the advertisement in home away. Anyone renting should read carefully the advertisement and in any doubt ask me as owner, I am allways glad to answer any question there might be.As mentioned obove, my wife and me fell sorry if the vacation in our home was not as exspectet, especially if the reason is a mistake by our agency in Javea, but many wrong exspectations or unpleasant situations can be avoided by reading carefully or asking me.

Private & relaxing

We found the villa to be in an ideal location for a very private and relaxing holiday. A car is essential to reach the lively resorts of Arenal and Javea but there are also restaurants within walking distance. We particularly enjoyed the pool and garden. We would love to come back to the villa another time and would definitely recommend it to friends and family.

Lovely traditional villa, with great outside space

We had a lovely holiday and found the villa to be perfect for our needs. The BBQ area, outside shower and of course the pool were all great. The villa was clean and perfect for a family of 4, there aren't all the mod cons, but you're on holiday! I'd definitely recommend getting a car, although there are 2 good restaurants/ bars within walking distance and shop/bakery too. It's about 10 mins drive down to the Arenal.

Tolle Anlage

Schönes Ferienhaus mit klasse Pool. Leider wurde der Einruck durch intensiven Katzengeruch im Außenbereich etwas getrübt.

Die Betreuung durch den Vermieter im Vorfeld war optimal.

Alles in allem war es eine schöner Urlaub zum Relaxen

Owner's Response: Es tut meiner Frau und mir natürlich leid, wenn Störungen aus der Nachbarschaft empfunden werden. Das Haus steht aber nicht alleine auf weiter Flur - wie mit Ausnahme von alleinstehenden Fincas -  sondern wie üblich in Spanien in einer Urbanisation. Und Balcon al Mar ist eine sehr angenehme weil mit viel Baumbestand, Freiflächen und keine so enge Bebauung. Natürlich kann es wie überall mal zu irgendeiner Belästigung kommen, wie z.B. durch Katzen.In unseren 22 Jahren in Javea ist uns eine solche Belästigung noch nie begegnet und von Gästen auch nicht mitgeteilt worden.

Casa sabina

Wij hebben genoten van onze vakantie in casa sabina!

De tuin was zo mooi, het zwembad top, heerlijke relax stoelen rond het zwembad prima huis. Heerlijk overdekt terras in de schaduw.

Het huis was schoon en eenvoudig ingericht. Alles was aanwezig. We kunnen dit aanbevelen! Sunhouses regelde alles prima!

Mooie omgeving, wij kennen Javea al vele jaren, maar zo dicht bij de vuurtoren waren wij nog niet eerder!

Aan de eigenaar: niets te veel gezegd, alles prima!

Ende Mai / Anfang Juni 2016 hatten wir ( meine Frau unsere Tochter und ihr Freund und ich ) herrliche zwei Wochen in diesem schönen Haus. Im Haus ist alles vorhanden was man braucht.Es gibt eine schattige Terrasse vor der Küche und eine sonnige Terrasse mit herrlichem Blick aufs Meer. Ein gepflegter und schön gestalteter Garten mit tollem, sauberen Pool, Liegen und Stühlen und einen gemauerten Grillplatz der super gemütlich ist. Die Sitz- und Liegefläche am Pool ist sehr großzügig bemessen und man kann die Sonne bis abends geniessen. Das Haus liegt in einer schönen, ruhigen Siedlung und morgens kann man bei einem entspannten Spaziergang Brötchen holen. Dieser kleine Supermarkt führt auch ein Sortiment für den täglichen Bedarf. Das Restaurant CASA PEPE ( 100 m vom Haus ) ist auch zu empfehlen. Insgesamt bietet dieses Haus und die Umgebung alles was einen schönen Urlaub ausmacht. Schöne Strände und Buchten, schöne Städte ( VALENCIA und DENIA ) und man kann am Montgo

( dem Hausberg) herrlich wandern. Es gibt soviel zu entdecken , dass selbst mehrere Urlaube nicht ausreichen würden. Wir haben herrliche Abende beim Grillen verbracht , tolle Stunden am Pool und haben uns rundrum wohl gefühlt. Wir können sowohl das Haus als auch die Umgebung uneingeschränkt empfehlen. Und vielen Dank an die Vermieter die uns im Vorwege mit viel Geduld unsere Fragen beantwortet haben und viele Tips gegeben haben. Wir werden wieder kommen.

PS: Die Aussendusche hinterm Haus ist genial.

Javea, the 'Pearl of Costa Blanca', is surrounded by lemon and orange groves. It is a charming little town with a marina, historic centre, a long promenade by the sea side from Arenal with many pubs and restaurants up to the harbour. Directly at Javea you will find various sandy beaches and coves, cliffs and fantastic mountains all around with varied scenery and views. The place is known for Europe's best healing climate (Mediterranean herbs grow everywhere, sea air and no industrial buildings). Javea and its surroundings invite you to take a stroll, walk, explore and enjoy. Recovery by itself is pretty fast here. However, you do not even need to move to Javea (10 minutes drive from the villa). A walk from the villa will take you up to the swimming bays Granadella, Ambolo and Las Barracas, or on the peninsula of Portichol, from where one can see the hinterland and mountains. Cap Negre, with its magnificent view is also only 10 minutes away from the house

The shortest hole is No. 7 with 140 m and the longest is No. 5 with 475 m. *** Ifach - Location: Highway Moraira a Calpe, 3 km. Towns San Jaime, Benissa, the stretch amidst pine, almond and carob trees. Valley with a beautiful sea view. 9 short holes require safe 'Drive' and experience in the game over shorter distances. Trees and obstacles increase the difficulty level. *** La Sella - Location: Highway La Jara - Jesus Pobre, Denia. Surrounded by Mediterranean forest and mountains, near Montgo Nature Park, play field with 18 holes and a total length of 6,072 m. Nice scenery and extensive, easily accessible access services. Suitable for players of all levels. Varied, beautiful views from all routes.

Comfortable furnishings, you will feel right at home. It has everything that you need. The living room furniture is cosy; the dining table in the living room is extendable (for 6 persons). A fireplace takes care of cosy hours in the evening. 2 gas furnaces provide comfortable warmth. The kitchen (American kitchen with service hatch) is fully equipped with all kitchen utensils. In front of the house there is a carport for 2 vehicles. Outside the house, there are 2 outdoor showers in the garden. One of them with hot water, the other by the pool side with cold water. Garden furniture is also available naturally as well as the grilling utensils at the barbecue. All around the house care has been taken to ensure that you feel comfortable. Pets are allowed and will be charged € 60 per stay. A security deposit of € 400 will be refunded 2 weeks after departure. Upon individual requests we would be glad to send more photos.
