About Shawn Mullins

My wife and I both grew up in Michigan and currently reside in Southeast Michigan. We have a passion for Northwest Michigan and purchased what became our first 'vacation rental' about 7 years ago. Sharing our homes with other travelers has been a joy and the many relationships we have developed over the years have been a blessing!

Shawn Mullins purchased this cottage in 2014

Why Shawn Mullins chose Western Michigan

Since deciding to expand and purchase another vacation property, we were looking for a place that was new, beautiful and close to all that Northwest Michigan has to offer. We found it with this place!! The minute you drive down the tree covered path and pull up, you'll know you're in for a great vacation! Inside, the place looks and feels hand crafted and the open concept is great for hanging out with family and friends. Outside, there are beautiful mature trees everywhere and a gorgeous view down to the pond!

What makes this cottage unique

What makes the Blue Spruce even more amazing is how close it is to all that northern Michigan and Lake County have to offer! With 156 lakes, and 46 trout streams, four major rivers, and over 300 miles of ORV & ATV trails and over 750 miles of groomed connecting snowmobile trails, it's a sportsperson's and trail rider's paradise. Plus you can ride your ATV -ORV and Snowmobiles right from the cottage to the trails. If you don't have an ATV or Snowmobile, no problem, there are places nearby that rent them out. World Class Fishing for Trout, Salmon and Steelhead, in the Pere Marquette River, Pine River, Big Manistee River and Little Manistee Rivers. Great pan fishing in most of the 156 lakes. Here are just a few things in the area to take advantage of-

Pere Marquette River…..3 miles

76th St North Country Hiking Trailhead……1 mile

Marquette Trails Golf Course……1 mile

Baldwin River……2 miles

Canoe, Kayak, ATV, ORV rentals…..all within 2 miles

Na-Tah-Ka Bar and Restaurant…….1 mile

Ludington & Lake Mi beaches…..30 miles

Big Star Lake……walking distance

These are just a few examples of activities that are all very close by! We promise that our cottage will always be Very Clean and Comfortable. Feel free to call us with any questions you might have. We look forward to sharing our “Up North” getaway with you and your family!

Beautiful!!

  • 5 of 5

Very clean, great aroma inside, like fresh cut wood!!!

All the amenities you could need plus some!!

Great place to go and relax, or bring your ATVs if you own any. Tucked back and perfectly hidden from all the rigors of your daily life. Definitly a place to get away from it all!

Will be going back to this property!!

New, nice, clean

  • 5 of 5

We visit Baldwin every summer, and this cabin is by far the nicest we've found! It is spacious and updated and the pictures really don't do it justice. It is beautiful! The owner, Shawn, was courteous and quick to respond. The only negatives about the cabin was that the water is very hard (bring/buy water to drink & make coffe) and there was no wifi (some of us like to be more connected than others). Overall, an awesome place to stay in Baldwin!

Owner's Response: Hi Jess, thank you for the wonderful review! It was great interacting with you as well. Our place is very new and clean and we like to think it is one of the nicest rentals in Baldwin as well. The hard water is being taken care of. Thanks again for the review and we look forward to seeing you soon! Shawn & Cassie

Awesome stay!

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely loved this cabin(actually feels more like a home)! When we first arrived, we were so impressed with the place, it was really charming. We have friends with a place on Big Star Lake. This cabin was within walking distance(about 5 minutes) from our friends place. We spent most of our days at their place, but it was so nice to walk back to this peaceful setting and unwind for the night. We only had ourselves and our young daughter with us, but this cabin would definitely be big enough for a larger group. The place was really clean and we felt at home as soon as we arrived. There is a grocery store about 10 minutes away and quite a few good restaurants if you don't feel like cooking your own meals. We will definitely be staying here again, next trip will be longer than a weekend! Thanks for such a great experience!

Best Cabin we ever stayed at!!

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed at another property of the same owners before and liked it so much we took a chance and rented this one this past weekend for snowmobiling. Let me start out by saying the pictures if the inside do not do it justice. From the minute i walked thru the door i could not stop smiling long enough to get my husband in there to see what i was seeing. from the tile kitchen with all stainless steel appliances to the full size (i mean full size ) bathroom which in a lot of these cabins you don't get to the beautiful master bedroom to the fine detail and craftsmanship of the staircase. this cottage can easily sleep 8 with plenty of room for every one and everyone's stuff :) it if very centrally located to all snowmobile / orv trails (we do both so it works great for us ) very close to shopping / gas / food and entertainment. Peaceful enough where you feel like your away from home but not so far off the beaten path that your scared... it had every amenity i needed to cook / sleep / entertain ourselves. Huge flat screen tv in the living room with satellite . I could go on and on. if you are needing a cabin in the Baldwin area this is the one to rent you will not be disappointment. We intend on going back in the fall to take our quads and experience the local fishing and everything the area has to offer. The owner Sean is always quick to respond answers any questions your have and is right there trying to help if you need something. Beautiful property!!
