About Daryl Dancer

Seventeen years ago I arrived on the Island and knew at once I was at home. Surrounded by the ocean and mountains I can't think of being anywhere else. I hope you enjoy your visit. Make yourself at home and go walking around the community.

I am an artist, naturalist and grizzly bear viewing guide! You are probably wondering how art, nature and grizzly bears are related? Nature and my outdoor passions opened the doors to many of my art experiences. I am inspired by nature. My relationship between art and nature is closely interwoven. I feel textile arts have been connected to the landscape for hundreds if not thousands of years.

I welcome you into my home where the walls are lined with original art, some of my own, from friends and fellow artists. Painting, weavings, woven paintings, stitched landscapes and wildlife photography.

Daryl Dancer purchased this house in 2002

Why Daryl Dancer chose Comox Valley

The beauty of this neighbourhood is the quietness! Nature abounds here, deer grazing, numerous songbirds and woodpeckers. It is only a 12 minute walk to the marina, which takes you past the golf course, tennis courts, coffee shops, library, art gallery, restaurants and shopping. The recreation centre which offers a variety of classes and a fitness studio is a short walk away. And let's not forget the creek walk to the beach with ocean and mountain views. We are also 10 minutes from the airport.

What makes this house unique

This property is within walking distance of the golf course, tennis courts, marina, beach, recreation centre, library, art gallery, coffee shop, restaurants and shopping. There is no need for a car. You could spend a week or more just exploring without getting into your car.

The several of the local community events such as Snow to Surf, Shellfish Festival, Nautical Days and the Filberg Arts Festival are held just a 10-15 minute walk away!

Clean , Comfortable and Convenient

  • 4 of 5

We made such a great choice flying to Comox and staying at Daryl's for week. We have access to everything we need. We enjoyed walks around town, along Brooklyn Creek and out onto Goose Spit. Nearby coffee shops include the Komox Grind and Twisted Plate and many others - all fantastic. Great restaurants such as Toscanos (don't miss pasta Mondays) and a fabulous waterfront pub called the Black Fin. Our HomeAway had lots of room, a well appointed kitchen and dining room and a comfortable bed and living room. Bus connections made it easy to get to Courtney, Cumberland and beyond. Nice place to kick back after a busy day exploring. Thanks Daryl!

Wonderful accommodations

  • 5 of 5

We had a delightful stay in Daryl's home. Her house is located in a quiet residential area, an easy walk to shops, restaurants, the library, a golf course, and the list goes on and on. We very much enjoyed the comforts Daryl provided for us and we have never slept better than we did at her place. It was February and the weather turned against us but that's another story. It is our intention to return to the Comox Valley and we are already planning for our second visit later this year.

Comfortable and Quiet

  • 5 of 5

Very enjoyable stay. Was down island for business and thoroughly enjoyed the convenience and comforts of the suite. Easy access and plenty of space allowed me lots of room for all my gear. A really nice touch was the large queen bed behind french doors. After a day and a half of ferry travel and driving I had my best sleep in days. Even managed to get a load of laundry done before I hit the road again. Thanks Daryl!

Sweet Spot

  • 5 of 5

First, Daryl was really accommodating and very wonderful to deal with about everything. Second, the big, charming suite is a sweet spot to stay. Flowers and fresh ground coffee awaited us on arrival. Modern conveniences cover anything desired or required. The quiet location in quaint Comox is superb with all basic and entertaining amenities only a few minutes walk away. We only drove the car to go exploring fun nearby areas like Campbell River, Cumberland, Mt. Washington, Nymph Falls and such. We are so happy to have had a marvelous month here. Thanks, Daryl!
