Upscale 1- Br Cottage With Detached Kitchen, Pool And Stunning Views.

Skyloft, a modern vacation cottage newly constructed in 2015, is perched on a tropical hillside 600 feet above Coral Bay one mile from the Virgin Islands National Park Border. It is one-half mile from the shops and restaurants of Coral Bay. The home consists of two buildings, a kitchen and a bedroom/bathroom. There is a spacious tile deck, a back deck shaded area, and a 12-foot diameter freshwater pool. There are two tropical outdoor showers. Access to the Skyloft deck and the spectacular view is by way of three flights of stairs from the cement parking area.

Many Coral Bay Restaurants, such as Skinny Legs, Indigo Grill, Pickles, Oasis, and Aqua Bistro, are less than one mile away.

A 10 minute drive northwest brings you to the Maho, Cinnamon, and Trunk Bay beaches. A 10 minute drive east brings you to Salt Pond Beach. Also within this radius are hiking trails, plantation ruins, water sports rentals, restaurants, bars and shops.

The Skyloft indoor kitchen includes a sink, a 2-burner stove top, a small microwave, blender, toaster, a unique, full-capacity, under-counter refrigerator/freezer, cabinets and eat-in counter space for 2. There is a small but complete inventory of cooking pans and pots along with necessary utensils and plates.

The outdoor kitchen features a built-in gas grill, a sink and electricity. There is a sheltered outdoor dining/lounging area between the two buildings. Skyloft is specifically designed for guests seeking privacy and elegant outdoor living.

The bedroom is a separate, enclosed, fully-screened building with a queen-sized bed, ceiling-fan, air conditioning, two closets, and an enclosed bathroom featuring access to an outdoor shower. The outdoor shower has stunning views of Coral Bay, Hurricane Hole, Tortola, Norman Island and the Sir Francis Drake Channel.

The large tiled outdoor deck is perfect for lounging, dining and relaxing. At the east end of the deck is a 12-foot diameter freshwater pool. The second outdoor shower is by the pool.

Skyloft faces Northeast. The sun travels behind the property in the southern sky, providing natural shade for the deck in the morning and in the afternoon. There is all-day shade in the outdoor dining area and off to the side of the deck by the hammock.

The property is secluded and private, surrounded by a lush tropical forest.

Beach towels, beach chairs, and a cooler are available for excursions.

Skyloft is closed during the months of August and September. Check the calendar for precise closing and opening dates.

Why Jim Pfeiffer chose Coral Bay

We have vacationed on the island of St. John for over 25 consecutive years. We started as campers at the Cinnamon Bay Campground, graduated to a decade of bareboat chartering in the USVI and BVI, and then began renting vacation homes in Coral Bay. At first, we visited once a year, then twice a year, then on occasion, three times a year. It was pretty clear that we liked St. John and Coral Bay. We purchased the property in 2002, finalized building plans in 2013 and began construction in 2014. The project was completed in January of 2015. Skyloft is built to current construction codes, has an occupancy permit and has passed electrical and fire inspections.

Coralina Skyloft, named for its small footprint and spectacular VIP view of all the 'action' in Coral Bay, is our vision of simple, upscale, relaxing, tropical living. We are happy to share Skyloft with you. Welcome!

What makes this cottage unique

There are many wonderful homes and cottages for rent on St. John. We designed our home to include the best features from all of our rental and camping experiences over the years including upscale villas, Maho Bay Campground, Cinnamon Bay and Concordia Eco-retreat. Skyloft features affordability, privacy, outdoor living and cooking, screened-in sleeping, two spectacular outdoor showers, a small private pool, unbeatable views and a shaded, undeveloped, sitting area at the edge of a mature tropical forest.

Unforgettable!

My wife and I just returned from our stay at skyloft. It is truly an amazing location! The owners have clearly put much thought, love, and expense into making skyloft a superior vacation home.

Skyloft may not be for everybody. The drive up is challenging and the three flights of stairs may be difficult for some but if you know that going in and are up for the challenge, you will be rewarded every time you step out on the deck! It is stunning!

The outdoor kitchen was convenient and easy. I even made omelettes on the grill. Although we found the pool a bit to chilly, it is beautiful, especially when it is lit up at night!

Speaking of lights, the landscape lighting is inspired! We loved the ambiance it created!

We loved skyloft and hated to leave. We keep talking about how beautiful it was and how much we loved it.

I would be remiss if I did not give a shout out to Emily and Anthony the property managers. Pre arrival communication was excellent and professional. Upon arrival, they were gracious, kind, and informative.

To sum up, if you choose skyloft, you will not be disappointed!

A un passo dal cielo

L' alloggio di recente costruzione è situato nella parte alta di una collina che domina la bella baia di Coral bay .

La strada per raggiungerla presenta una elevata pendenza che la prima volta può impressionare ma con un fuoristrada è facilmente percorribile.

L' esposizione della casa è stata progettata con molta cura, la vista dalla terrazza con mini piscina è incredibile.

Dalla camera da letto le ampie aperture creano una continuità con l'esterno, La doccia all'aperto,anch'essa con visuale sulla baia,regala sensazioni uniche.

La piccola cucina è essenziale ma completa con un barbecue esterno per perfette grigliate.

L'arredamento è curato e di buon gusto.

A disposizione teli da bagno e teli da spiaggia.

E' fornita di condizionatore e di ventilatori a soffitto,collegamento wi-fi e i-pod.

Silenzio e privacy sono garantite.

Abbiamo trascorso una settimana circondati da una meravigliosa natura.

Owner's Response: Translation into English: This newly built accommodation is situated at the top of a hill overlooking the beautiful bay of Coral Bay. The road to reach it has a high slope that the first time can impress but with an off-road is easily passable. The orientation of the house was designed with great care, the view from the terrace with a mini pool is amazing. From the bedroom, the large windows create a continuity with the outside, the outdoor shower, also with a view of the bay, offers unique sensations. The small kitchen is basic but complete with an outdoor barbecue perfect for cookouts. The decor is nice and tasteful. There are bath towels and beach towels. Included are air conditioning and ceiling fans, wi-fi and i-pod. Silence and privacy are guaranteed. We spent a week surrounded by stunning nature. Recommended sincerely. Monica and Mauro

Breathtaking view

The owner is quick to respond to emails and questions. The property managers were extremely helpful offering advice on best beaches, bars, and restaurants. The view from the outside shower pool and patio are incredible. Close proximity to great hikes and beaches. Great attention to detail including wifi and an ipad with Netflix in the off chance you catch a rainy day. The drive up to the skyloft is very steep but after going up and down a couple of times you get used to it. Well worth the price of admission!

having trouble finding the words......

i told my wife that I was going to review skyloft by telling people "stay away, this place is terrible" so as to keep the masses away; I want this place all to myself! then I got home and started evangelizing: i've already told a neighbor, co-worker, and my sister all about it. words truly fail, and the photos don't quite do the place justice. we hit 6 different beaches in 7 days, each beach more beautiful than the next. then, up the mountain for the late afternoon and evening with a million dollar view and surprisingly perfect weather. about that mountain, other reviewers were right about the initial climb up being somewhat daunting, but they were also correct in saying that you get used to it pretty quickly.

skyloft was spotlessly clean when we arrived, the kitchen was easy to use, the bed was comfortable. in the tropics in late july and we never turned the AC on once, the breezes and ceiling fan were perfect. plus, the owners supplied snorkeling gear, beach chairs, beach towels and coolers for use.

this was our 20th wedding anniversary trip, and I can say without qualification that this was the best trip we've ever taken. we definitely plan to come back to st. john and when we do, we'll be staying at skyloft.

one other thing, I'd be remiss if I didn't give props to Emily, the property manager. she was in touch with us several days before we left, answered many questions, met us in town and showed us up the mountain to the house. she even helped carry luggage up the three flight walk. she gave a great orientation to the island and to skyloft, and made it clear that if we needed anything at anytime, to let her know, even to the point of saying she'd come to clean leaves out of the pool. turns out we didn't need her for anything after we settled in, but it was reassuring to know she was available.

Ideal rental for two

The property was beautiful - the listing pictures truly did not do justice to the view. I'm generally not one to want to sit "at home" on vacation, but the view from the main deck was enough to keep us there some evenings.

Skyloft is well-appointed and very well thought out. It's clean and well-maintained - very easy to feel at-home there for a week. It's everything you need for a couple - especially if you're spending most of your day enjoying the island anyway. The arrangement of the buildings and sitting areas on the deck actually makes the property feel spacious.

The lack of a conventional indoor living area didn't feel like a negative. Granted, we had very little daytime rain during our visit, but the ample outdoor space was very comfortable and (perhaps more importantly) private. During the occasional rain shower, ducking into the kitchen was fine. The counter is a comfortable place to read and wait for the sun to come back out.

I would not hesitate to book this property again.

Amazing!!!

Skyloft is an amazing property! My husband and I had never been to St. John and debated whether we wanted to stay in Cruz Bay or Coral Bay. Coral Bay was definitely the place for us! We loved the tranquility of that side of the island and waking up to the sounds of roosters and donkeys. The view was impeccable. The villa was thoughtfully planned out with all necessities provided. We thoroughly enjoyed driving to the beaches (north, east, and south shore were super convenient) during the day and returning to the cool refreshing pool in the evening. Restaurants, shops, and a small market were a quick drive away. The property managers, Emily and Anthony, are very accessible, friendly, and a wealth of information! Definitely get a jeep to make the at first daunting but quickly comfortable bumpy drive up the hill!

Coral Bay is a small unspoiled village on the eastern end of St. John. It borders the Virgin Islands National Park. There are five restaurants within a ten minute drive from the house including the well-known Skinny Legs Bar, Indigo Grill, Oasis, Pickles, and Aqua Bistro.

Many pristine north shore beaches, including Maho, Trunk and Cinnamon are 10 minutes away. Cruz Bay, a hub of activity where the ferry from St. Thomas is located, is 30 minutes from Coral Bay.

There are three flights of stairs from the upper driveway parking to the Skyloft deck.

St. John is steep and volcanic. Guests must rent a 4-wheel-drive Jeep or equivalent vehicle with high road clearance. Secondary roads on the island of St. John are unpaved and not maintained. Late model, all-wheel-drive SUVs, which rental companies consider 4WD, may not have enough road clearance for St. John roads. 3/4 of the .5 mile road from the paved route 107 sea level road to Skyloft is cement roadway. 1/4 of this road is unpaved and requires 4 Wheel Drive.

The tax imposed by the USVI Government on vacation rentals is 12.5%
