Clean. Quiet. Had everything we needed. Owner lives close and responded quickly to our requests. Awesome food and coffee a block away. Beautiful historic neighborhood away from the noise and chaos of the French quarter. (still very accessible though) .

Not to be biased, I grew up in ole Algiers and have always loved the charm of Algiers Point.

  • 4 of 5

Ole, Algiers Point is a very fascinating place with that mystery and charm it can only provide. Algiers has a lot of history established roughly around the early 1700s. One of our most celebrated artists Louis Armstrong also lived in Algiers. Well I started my opening review by stating that I grew up in the area (this was long ago 1964-1994) so didn't want to sound bias. The family and I currently reside in Maryland after a 20 year military career. The wife and I decided to vacation back home to visit family and utilize Home-Away instead of hotel or family members. Our accommodations were excellent and the mangers also had that natural Nawlins charm you would expect. No disappointment here!

New Orleans- The BIG EASY

  • 5 of 5

Staying here made this trip the Big Easy. Parking in New Orleans is expensive. The location of this wonderful shotgun house is walking distance to the ferry, or if you want a parking lot is just below the ferry at a small cost for the day. Our cost was $5.00 per day. Once on the other side of the river you are at the door of the Harrah's casino from there you can jump on the trolley and go up and down Canal street to get to Bourbon street. Yes, Bourbon street is a must see. This very historical house is currently being remodeled and restored. The exterior is freshly painted. The interior is decorated with unique art work and furnishings, which made this house feel like a home. The bed was comfortable. There is a very nice TV, which can be watched at night from the King bed. The AC was on when we arrived and the house was at, and remained at, a comfortable temperature our entire stay. We sat on the front porch every night with Andy and Ellen to Watch people and to chat. Andy played guitar and sang. It was very nice. Within walking distance is the berm with a walking/jogging paved path, some very good cafes, and a local pub. This neighborhood felt very safe and it was extremely quite. We would definitely stay here again

Very clean, Great Neighborhood!

  • 5 of 5

Stay was excellent. We had a 9 month old and he was able to sleep without hesitation because of the quietness. Had breakfast at coffee shop about a block away. Everyone was very friendly. Walked to the ferry for quick access to the French Quarter. Just what we needed for a quick 2 day stay. Will definitely stay here again when we are back.

Loud and weird

  • 3 of 5

Beds were amazingly comfortable and house was clean and very close to the ferry. Aside from that, the internet was unreliable, there's only very basic TV (no DVD or real cable), no bathroom fan, limited street parking. Shares wall with other unit that had incredibly noisy neighbors, shares backyard with neighbors and eccentric nosy owner. He was also doing construction the whole time so I woke up to that every morning.

If it's just a place to sleep and shower it's mostly fine, but if you're looking for a relaxing place to unwind I'd stay elsewhere.

Owner's Response: Ask guest if it was ok painters paint front of house. They said it was ok. Now they complain about it? It is complete now. Its ok to have neighbors in my back yard. Plenty of parking. There is on and off street parking.

Work in progress

  • 3 of 5

Our trip was very enjoyable. Andy was a good host. Beds were very comfortable, living area needs more seating for guests. Kitchen was missing a few items but overall our accommodations were comfortable! Lots of hot water for showering, laundry etc. The ferry was very close and dropped us off on the other side right at the base of everything. Close to the French Market, casino and French Quarter. The ferry ride itself was less than 10 minutes. Algiers Point has local restaurants and bars. The coffee house was getting ready to open, this will be a good addition to the area. The historical houses made for very enjoyable scenery walk. Algiers, is the perfect way to enjoy the city life but get away from it all at the end of the day!

Thanks Andy
